Family of 5 with 3 kids. Perfect location and facilities if you want to bring your kids on a safari. Expert staff, very well run in all aspects
Nothing perfect for a family safari

The tent was lovely. Secluded with a lovely view of the mud wallow. The staff were fantastic and the game drives and the bush walk excellent experience and education.
The food choice was a bit limited, especially for a coeliac, who must be gluten free.

The staff were so helpful and kind.
The game viewing was incredible and Dario, the ranger, was very respectful of the animals, passionate about what he does and knowledgeable.
The location is perfect, the watering hole is a lovely spot to quietly watch animals as you read your book. Very convenient to get to from PE airport.
The rooms were clean with appropriate decor. I loved having a bath in our safari tent whilst watching for animals out the window.
We stayed at Bukela, the more expensive and 5 star equivalent and had a better experience at Hlosi. I'd highly recommend Hlosi to anyone wanting a high quality safari experience.
The food was average. I would expect more from a 4 star establishment.

Wonderful experience! Staff was friendly and promptly met every need. Food was good. Rooms were comfortable. We loved watching wildlife from our tent windows and deck. We enjoyed the hippo family at the lodge. We saw lots of animals on our game drives.

The game drives were outstanding - lots of animals and a fantastic ranger. The reserve offers big and diverse landscapes
The food was a bit rustic

Beautiful lodge and ideally situated with its own water hole and a resident family of hippos. During our 4 night stay we saw antelope, wart hogs, antelope and elephants (to name just a few) visit the water hole for a drink.

It was ok. the pictures are better than the actual rooms. The staff was very friendly. Our ranger Greg was very nice and explainend many things to us.
it wasn‘t very clean and the rooms need to be renovated. Bugs everywhere and no moskito net over the bed. we couldn‘t use the outside shower because of 50 Bees living there. Food was ok.

The staff always willing to go the extra mile made our anniversary evening very special....
I would love for the game reserve to be a little more stocked with wildlife, u can't have three lions, three cheetahs and an almost non existent Leopard.....u kinda chase to see the same lions and cheetahs most days....the game guides are excellent...no doubt about that...the food at the lodge although plentiful must be of better quality ....lastly the noise that comes from the traffic on the N2 during the night....u just can not enjoy a peaceful sleep..

The lodge offers a great vista to see animals. Really awesome to see the baby hippo at the watering hole nearby! The food is really good too! The game drives were also excellent! Pack warm clothes for the winter drives!
There was a mixup with the expected arrival time. The lodge sent us the summer schedule for game drives when actually they were on the winter schedule. Make sure you confirm what times they’re doing the game drives! The company didn’t offer any compensation for their error. When entering the GPS coordinates on google maps, it navigates you the wrong way to the game park. Rather put in these coordinates (-33.5348050, 26.0861731)

Amazing experience! Great safaris with knowledgeable, motivated and enthusiastic guide who really cared for the wildlife and their wellbeing as much as for that of his guests. Very thought through service and structure of day.

The staff were friendly and tried to help they moved my guests to a new room when they complained about the rooms condition and no hot water
this was marketed as a luxury resort and the price was definitely for a luxury resort however the maintenance of the resort, game vehicles, and rooms were far below standard on our game drive the sundowners was really poor and 0n the morning drive the forgot the coffee. We had no hot water in both rooms and the toilet was leaking.I was really embarrassed as I had told my USA guest they were in for a really upmarket experience

The staff was welcoming and everyone went out of their way to make our stay a memorable one. My 2 year old daughter enjoyed herself and everyone.
Food was amazing and special thanks to the chef.
For the price of the stay, I found the house wine a bit bland, especially if the place is 4 stars.

Everyone is super friendly and sweet
A map needs to be displayed with the routing (the description online is VERY confusing!!)! even pointing out that the gate for Amakhala (main camp) is the same point of entry would have helped. Do not follow Google maps.
We had no hot water due to winds being too strong, this is a windy area, so I'm sure this is a common occurrence.

The lodge is situated within the Amakhala Game Reserve. So the safari starts right in front of the lodge. We booked the morning and afternoon game drives (3 hours each). They were included in the price already. Our guide was Wonga and he was very competent and super funny. We saw lions, a cheeta family with babies , rhinos, hippos, giraffes, elephants, warthogs, buffalos, Kudus, and many, many more animals.
The staff at the hotel was extremly friendly, the food was nice. You get a small breakfast at 5.30am before the safari, and a second, larger one after you return around 9am. There is a light lunch as well as a nice dinner included in the package.
The lodge is situated at a waterhole. We could observe giraffes, elephants, warthogs, buffalos, and many smaller animals from the outlook.
So overall, it was a positive experience and we can recommend the Hlosi Lodge to everyone.
