Friendly staff, place had character,
Loved it, food was good, beer was betterššš
The weather

Breakfast was excellent, the place had its own uniqueness and charm, slightly off the beaten track.
Good selection of non alcoholic cider and beer which was a pleasant change, as many places only seem to stock one beer/lager and if you are lucky one cider, this establishment had 2 of each
Very soft bed, and perhaps guest should be warned of the shapes of the internal features within the establishment, Yes low beams and wonky walls all of which are charming but can catch taller customers out.
Plus some of the rooms are directly above the noisy bars

The village! The accommodation was dirty , I know it was an old building but no excuse for the lack of cleanliness, the shower had mould in the grout, not just black but furry! Sat on the bed and hit the wooden slats straight away! Was not informed untillwed booked on that there was a music bash on! 7.30pm band right beneath our room, tv had 5 channels not even freeview! Not that we could turn the volume enough to drown out the sound! Paid Ā£162 to turn round and go home! Atrocious

Rooms are a little tired

Quaint old pub decor a little tired but friendly and pub food tasty
I think it requires some investment

The triple room needs some work myself and friends booked for a tough mudder event but I would take my kids there as to many hazards and the bathroom was filthy and requires updating
Staff were sound and welcoming

Very friendly staff, pleasant evening meal.
Beds comfortable.
Garden rather tatty, room could do with a lick of paint

Amazing staff and breakfast. Great little extras in the rooms
Basic room, needs a little TLC, however got what we paid for

Great location and character being a medieval inn.
Staff very friendly and helpful and meals good, especially breakfast. Room comfortable and clean with en suite facilities. The price was exceptional value for money. We would happily stay there again.
There were some very minor issues with the bathroom which will be easily rectified now they are aware of them.. Our room and two others were accessed from an outside staircase. This was no problem to us and it was summer.

Breakfast was great, and Julie (the owner) got it ready for us at 06:30 on a Sunday - amazing service!

Comfortable accommodation, nice food, very helpful staff.
Location not ideal for us as we were walking the Vikingās Way and had to walk several miles extra round trip to get to the Blue Cow. Hard to fault the actual accommodation or service.

Perfect location to visit family. Breakfast lovely and hot. Staff very welcoming.
It was a lot more expensive than the year before when we stayed but appreciate the rise in the cost of living.

Lovely building

Lovely genuine pub and food was really good. Staff were really kind and helpful. Thank you for the big fan!
Room on fop floor up some metal steps which you could see through to the ground. The rooms were quite noisy when the other guests- (family with children?) finally arrived about an hour after weād gone to bed, and they mistook the room a couple of times. Bed a bit soft for me.

really good
nothing

Good breakfast, quick check-in, no fuss, own key so able to access rooms after pub had closed, lots of parking spaces
Low headroom (ouch), slightly too soft mattresses, room could do with redecoration

staff were friendly
beds very uncomfortable meant very little sleep, room was cold, no room in the bedroom to move around in no shelves in the bathroom so nowhere to put shower items or washing and toothbrushes, stairs up to the rooms were open metal grating style, not enough plug points, very difficult and dark to access the pub from the street.
3.0
Lovely old building. Friendly staff especially Sean. Clean. Food nice.
Room was tatty and needs updating. . Mattress uncomfortable and needs replacing..
Onsuite facilities passable.

Extremely handy for travellers on A1, it is a mile away and a genuine timbered old fashioned pub in quiet little village.Fabulous wonky floors too. Food appeared genuinely home made and a nice change from the prescribed chain pub menu
The real ale was just ok not quite right. You will get noise in Ur room from the bar but that isn't a criticism it's the nature and age of the building with the bedrooms directly above the bar

Food was ok
the room was dire. Very little attention to cleanliness. Appreciate itās an old building but when youāve got two different makes of taps it just sums up how little attention to detail. and the blue tap was on the hot ??
3.0
No breakfast menu, member of staff did not say was on offer. Had to ask then told it was not available, ie black pudding, breakfast tasted fine.
Room could have a revamp. Bed was bit soft for me.
4.5
The staff. The old building. Certainly the food. Great chef. We also had good conversation and laughs.
There wasn't anything to dislike.
