Birthday at Castle Inn

Room was ideal, good size and a few surprises. Tastefully decorated, colours were lovely, nicely stocked. Bed was lovely and comfortable.

There was no signal for the TV on main channels. The description said there were shampoo and conditioner but there wasn't.

Adequate but disappointing.

The room was comfortable. Clean, tidy and the bathroom was also maintained and provisioned to a high standard. Monday evening quiz evening was fun even as a team of one with no hope of competing.

The sound and light proofing of the room. Being on a small roundabout traffic slowing and accelerating made for a disturbed night and the intensity of the street lights could have been improved if the curtains had been fitted with a pelmet. The one breakfast and one evening meal I had were adequate but nothing special given the prices. The bar is expensive and the single spirit measures barely wet the bottom of the glass.

Room was NOT cleaned even though we placed the cleaning tag on the door had to go to reception for second days milk and tea bags. expected an apartment got a room! with a small reduction in rate.

Expected superior room to be bigger. For £180 breakfast should be included and preferably with hot options. Walk-in shower just means water all over bathroom floor.

The cost increased 100% because the Great Yorkshire Show was on. This is profiteering as it should be first come first served, not increase price just because you can. Unfortunately all hotels do the same.

Exceptional

Perfect & luxe stay in the countryside. I loved the beautiful bathtub and thoughtful little touches. The in-room coffee provided was artisan ground coffee with a french cafetiere. The pictures don't do this inn justice - look forward to returning.

Room was gorgeous, clean. Staff were really helpful, kind and could not do enough especially the evening staff and all whilst catering for a birthday party and christening. Big shout out to Emanuel for going above and beyond!

Morning staff and breakfast. We came down at 9.35 and he said he was tidying breakfast away in five minutes despite it being served until 10. There wasn't much there, one crossant left.

Rooms were big and we'll appointed, lovely bathroom and toiletries. Staff were amazing, couldn't do enough for you. Expensive for what it was.

The rooms were absolutely, blinking freezing and so was the bathroom. After an hour in bed with clothes on and the heater on full blast it was OK, but the bathroom temperature never got above baltic. And I know it can't be helped in older buildings but I didn't enjoy lying in bed listening to wildlife crawling about in the walls.

Hidden gem!

Staff friendly. Comfy room, well decorated, with lovely big bathroom (Balmoral). Food very good. Would return :)

the staff were very helpful and pleasant. we had a good meal

unfortunately we had a room that had an extremely bad smell coming from the drain in the bathroom. The staff tried to resolve it but it never went away. No bleach or cleaner would remove the smell.

Good accommodation, pub and food - would stay again

Location is good and great for a stop on your way north, not being too far from the motorway. Very comfortable beds and room has everything you need. Despite having a roadside room it was very quiet. Breakfast was good, with a good continental choice and cereals. We had a meal on arrival, which was very good.

The only negative I had was that there were other very noisy guests on the night we stayed. In and out of their room and up and down the stairs being loud until about 4am. Unfortunately as no staff are on site overnight, not much can be done in this situation.

Pre Christmas Getaway 💕

Gorgeous pub/restaurant/hotel in a beautiful location, really well connected when it came to Harrogate and in turn, York (via the train). We loved it and the staff were just fabulous. We'll certainly be back.

exelent stay with very friendly staff thought food a bit dear and not much to chose from but quality of food very good we were in the bridal suit very clean but you need to dust the beams every so often but all in all a lovely stay
