I love everything about this house. I was not happy about vacasa raising the prices.
8.0 / 10.0
It's a very welcoming cottage and it was clean. We had a total of 5 guests and it was adequate for that number. The view is outstanding. If you aren;t a good walker or lose balance easy, I would not recommend going down to the beach on the rocky stairs. Also, access to the beach is about a block away from the cabin. It is a very peaceful place to unwind and relax.

Ok so I’m a review reader and writer. I read every review before I rent a place and like to give honest detailed reviews as best I can. This was truly one of our best rentals in Rockaway, and we’ve gone every year and always try a new place. The view upon entering cannot be beat. The whole front of the house is windows that just look out at the ocean. House was perfect for the four of us, could also work for more. One of the things I look for is living room seating for relaxing time. This home had two couches, plus a Loung chair, so would seat 7, a great amount of space for dad to take a nap and the rest of us to be very comfortable. Dining table seats 6. Tiny kitchen space, crazy to go old fashioned and hand wash dishes but it’s good for us lol. Comfy beds. No tvs in the bedrooms but not the end of the world. Superb outdoor space, we ate our crab on the picnic table overlooking the ocean. Crows nest was fantastic. A great use of space. Negative was the rocks to climb down. It’s not just 2 or 3, but a small rock cliff. If you’re physically challenged in any way (or have had a few too many beverages) it’s literally just a couple houses down for safer passage. Only a couple ants that we saw, but we’ve seen them in every house we’ve ever rented there. Laundry soap provided but not dryer sheets. And couldn’t find a pizza cutter. I agree with another reviewer that said new pans with lids would be nice. We used a plate to help drain our hamburger meat but again not the worst. I would rent this funky fun house again in a minute.

House was nice and had wonderful view. It looks from the pictures to be right at beach level but there was large rock wall to go up and down for beach access- FYI. For us it didn’t detract from the experience but for those limited in mobility it might be an issue.

Waking up to the beautiful beach view and going to bed with the beautiful sunset was sensational. The deck, firepit, and sand area were perfect for all the family, We had everything we needed plus more! Would recommend this place and would love to come back every summer.

We absolutely LOVED the view. It was hard to beat and most appreciated because getting down to the beach was hard for my 80 year old mom with bad knees. She made it down the public rock staircase with a stick moving slowly and carefully, but because it wasn’t easy getting down there, getting to enjoy the ocean from the views this little cottage provided was priceless. We grew very attached to this house and wouldn’t hesitate to book it again. I especially loved the lookout nook where I blissfully spent time painting, drawing and unrolled my yoga mat. We did wash most of the dishes before we used them, but that was understandable since there isn’t a dishwasher. The beds were really comfortable as were the couches. And the water pressure in the shower is lovely. This is the perfect no frills but super comfortable and inviting charming beach retreat. We loved it 🥰

This property has amazing views of the beautiful ocean. We would rent again. What you should know is that there are no chairs for the backyard, the electrical outlets are minimal and since is a pet friendly property, you will find animal fur in many places. However, it is clean and rustic, ready to make memories.

Overall the property was perfect, great ocean views. The posted property pictures were quite dated, but again, overall there was plenty of space for family and our labs. Did have some trouble with ants in the kitchen and dining area and could find no repellent.
We plan to rebook next year diring the same period.

The JUST DON’T LOOK house because everywhere you looked, there was dust! And not just the kind of dust that’s been sitting there for a month. This was months of dust and cobwebs. Having to clean dishes and glasses and silverware. Every Chachi had dust on it. Everything you touched outside of the surface cleaning that was done had dust on it. A cobweb that had months of dust balls in it. Too bad there’s nowhere to post pictures because I had a ton of pictures.

Perfect location right on the water. The house was nice for an older rental. It could use a little updating here and there, but everything seemed functional. Some areas get overlooked for cleaning- corners of rooms, the fireplace mantle was very dusty, etc, but overall it was a nice rental.

We really enjoyed our stay. The view is amazing and the place itself is very comfortable. If we could have used the indoor fireplace it would have been perfect.

The ocean is the backyard, the covered area outside is nice to relax and watch the waves. This small cabin is rustic, has everything you need except meals. Coffee was included. We will definitely stay again sometime

We enjoyed the great deck area with the observation room above. The awesome oceanfront view from inside the house was nice. We had a nice fire in the wood burning fireplace while we watched the stormy weather. Over all it was a very nice property.

My review is in two parts: First the review of the home. What an amazing, unobstructed view of the ocean. The home is a bit dated but that mostly adds to its beachy charm. We enjoyed sitting out on the covered porch reading and listening to the waves crash in. The crow’s nest is cozy but a bit musty smelling. I thought it was a nice, somewhat central location. About 15-20 minutes from Tillamook, 40 minutes from Cannon Beach, and we even drove about 1.5 hours up to Astoria and crossed over to WA and had lunch in Long Beach. My only suggestion is that the home could use a deep clean. The ceiling fan was quite dusty and in a search for a possible outlet behind a bed, it was clear it had been some time since it had been pulled out and cleaned behind it.
Second is my review of Vacasa. I really don’t have any major complaints. However, on our last night, someone came to the door attempting to get in stating that she was renting the home that night. She was able to open the lockbox but luckily, we had the key in the home. Vacasa was very responsive and attempted to figure out who was trying to get in. The home was blocked off by the owner after us and, according to Vacasa, the owner stated it wasn’t any they knew. Vacasa sent a local representative to change the code (not sure how that helped since we had the key), but I learned that if the lockbox is not electronic, the code not only isn’t necessarily changed between each rental, the same code may be used for several homes in the area. So, my only guess is that the person attempting to enter our rental was at the wrong house but had the same lockbox code for their rental. I have to admit that my daughter and I were a little freaked out!

Spectacular views, sunsets and ocean waves! Beach access is very difficult (even at the Beach Access arena) but can access easily from the hotel that is not too far away. House is nothing fancy but very homey and comfortable

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It isn’t fancy but it had everything we needed for a cozy stay. The crows nest/book nook was the best! It was a stormy weekend but that made it all the better.

The location of this house is outstanding, right on the ocean, gorgeous!!!!

From the minute we stepped out of our car and into the house, we were captured by the quaintness and simplicity of this oceanfront home. Our favorite spot was 'the nest', which was the upper, outer lookout room which was the perfect spot to nestle up with one of the many books in the Little Library (bring one of your own to trade), put together a puzzle or hust sit and watch the waves. We played Cornhole (which was one of the outdoor games on the property) and sat by the edge of the property watching the sunset. There is a beach access three houses down and the house is conveniently located about half a mile North of the main town...an easy stroll down the beach! We all said this home was perfect! Well stocked on kitchen needs...just bring your own firewood for the outdoor fire pit.

The view was amazing. We did have a few plumbing issues with slow drainage in one shower and a sink.

What a dissapointment compared to the photos listed. This place needs way more than some TLC. Where do I begin? One sofa is threadbare and torn in places. The other is positioned to look onto the underside of the neighboring house. Some kind of rack is attached to the refrigerator with tape. There is virtually no lighting - a bare bulb above the kitchen counter, another lamp with so many chords hanging around it in a complete mess. The water filter jug in the frig came with a long hair hanging out of it. The blanket on the bed had stains on it. Honestly I didn't want to touch anything! Additionally, as in all Vacasa homes, the linens and towels smell so strong of scented laundry detergent it gives me a headache. But that might be to cover up the smell of cigarette smoke which is always lingering. I would've left early if I could have gotten some kind of refund. But no one responded to my email. I have pictures. Where can I post them?

This house is cozy and welcoming! Plus the back area is amazing. Though the lookout room may have been our favorite feature. Everyone thought the mattresses+pillows were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans/utensils/etc. We felt at home during our stay and enjoyed our time here very much!
Something to keep in mind is the windows don't open in the living area, and the patio door doesn't have a screen. We put our dog's crate in front to keep him in and have some airflow. It did get warm without having the door open.
The early check-out time meant we spent most of the morning packing up then taking care of the required tasks. We would have loved to have a bit more time to enjoy the beach view.

This was the perfect little spot to getaway. The house was perfect for me and my boyfriend and had plenty of room. When you walk outside to the patio, you have such a great view of the ocean. This house reminds me of my Grandmas house, it has a older house smell of wood and memories that I loved. The rental company was very prompt with any questions I had. I absolutely recommend this place. Its affordable and just has so much personality to it. I will defiantly rent again.
In some of the reviews, it said other people complained about ants, but we had no issues with ants.

If you want a true beach cabin, this is it. It's fun, comfortable, well stocked and a little rustic. The view is perfect and we enjoyed sitting out on the deck even when it was cool outside. We did have problem with the cable connection and called the number pro ided (Vacasa) twice for help on the 2nd day of our rental period but didn't get a response until 2 days after we checked out. There were also some sugar ants in the kitchen and 2nd bathroom.

We really enjoyed our stay. The weather was rough, but the nice windows to the ocean were great. We loved the elevated sitting room. We used the outdoor fire ring twice, even with the rain. We brought our own firewood, but had to go to town to get a lighter.
The photos seem to indicate direct access to the beach. But it is not so. Access is a few houses away, not far. But it is not an easy sandy path. It is harder for older knees.
It was nice to have two bathrooms. There were plenty of towels, dishes, etc.

This was a fantastic location for our beach trip. You can’t get closer than this to the ocean. There is a really cool loft room that gives you an amazing view and is great for reading books. We will definitely stay here again.

The organization is non-responsive; most reps are unintelligible over the phone based on their English language skills or lack thereof. Their phone list is a joke. No matter which number you call, it is the very same recording. It is impossible to reach aba human to speak to; any company that hides from its customers does not deserve your money. I have a Small Claims claim opening against them to recover my costs. Good luck with finding out who to serve in this organization. Last suggestion, if you still feel the need to use Vbro, make sure you use a customer-friendly credit card company like American Express or Discover; otherwise, you'll get lost in the finger-pointing and likely give up, which their hierocracy is designed to do. "Be ye warned"

The house is perfectly cozy! It’s small but we don’t need lots of space and it shows someone’s true handiwork! We loved the little book that was there with pictures in it from the upper room being built. The home is a labor of love! I will note that the pictures are deceiving as to how accessible it is to the beach. But that’s okay! We were happy to see the waves rolling in either way!
