What an amazing stay at Lydonia Barn! The location was great - peaceful and quiet and walking distance to the pub. The cottage itself was brilliant, everything you could need even a log burner which was great for the cold November evenings. We will definitely be back!
Nothing - the cottage was perfect and exactly what we needed

Superb accommodation in the most delightful barn. Everything you could have hoped for with the facilities. Kim is a wonderful host and nothing is too much trouble.

The house was cosy and nice. The hosts were very kind, and had milk, bit of jam, marmalade and small breads ready for us in the house. The woodstove was also all set up for us to make a fire. Great location for a day trip into Dartmoor, unfortunately we didn’t have time to see Lydford Gorge, but we did have a nice walk around the church and castle ruins. The Castle Inn further down the road was also lovely.
The high chairs were a little uncomfortable and too high for the table in our opinion. The sofa bed was ok. A few basic spices would be a great addition to the kitchen.

Location is very good, quiet, and the place was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The hosts were also helpful.
The curtains upstairs let in a lot of light, which made sleeping in difficult.

Excellent stay despite the weather.

Kim and Geoff live in the adjacent house and are lovely hosts – friendly but not intrusive. The barn is well appointed, extremely quiet and very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and the bed very comfortable.
The barn is well located for both walkers and cyclists and we enjoyed some fabulous walks from the barn. The Castle Inn, located a couple of hundred metres away is a lovely pub serving some excellent beer and wine and lovely atmosphere.
We will stay here again and have no hesitation in recommending it.
There was nothing we did not like.

Perfect little cosy cottage/ barn. Just right for hiding from the world and gloomy weather but also in a great location for walking and day trips out to various places. The Castle Inn pub down the road was fantastic. Dog friendly and does a great steak. Lydford Gorge is stunning.

It was home from home, had literally everything you needed and more, all you need to take is your clothes.
It’s was cosy, exceptionally clean, log burner is amazing….just perfect!
If you love walking it’s perfect with a beautiful local pub 2 minutes walk away with fantastic food.
Will definitely be going back! 🙂
Bed was a little to firm for me but that’s just personal to what I like

The barn was exceptional in every way, the hosts were lovely, the village beautiful …. I can’t fault the break at all! Gutted to have had to leave but will most definitely return!
Nothing it was simply perfection!

The bedding smelled fresh and clean. Upstairs was bright with light coloured wood, and a good shower.
There was jam, marmalade, pain au chocolat, and fresh milk in the fridge when we arrived.
The wood burner was newly made up and there were plenty of logs and kindling.
Ants! Probably our fault, but we left something sticky on the side overnight and in the morning there were ants.
Everything else was perfect.

the property is in a delightful village with a brilliant pub nearby. it’s just like a home from home with everything that you could possibly need for a relaxing break. the log burner is very welcome on a dreary night and the little extras that Kim provides is truly appreciated.
The beams !! 😩😩 lost count how many times my husband banged his head!!🤣 , but hats the only problem if you are tall, me , being 5 foot, it’s not a problem!!!

What a fab little find. Perfect accommodation in a stunning location.
The barn has been tastefully converted and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. The secure garden was a bonus with the dog. The wood burner was a real treat and the milk, jams and pastries were a nice little surprise.
We ate out at the Castle a short walk from the property on the Friday evening which was fab and dog friendly. We enjoyed a walk on Dartmoor on the Saturday, working up an appetite for dinner at Cornish Arms in Tavistock, which we thoroughly enjoyed. All in all it was a great little mini break and we look forward to returning for another trip.
The photos of the property on booking.com definitely didn't do it justice. The place is absolutely fantastic and the reviews say it all.

Lovely place. Very quiet. Nice village location with pub in 3 mins walking distance. All the facilities we needed to cater for ourselves and a nice log burner.
Will definitely go again.

The location in the centre of Lydford was great. Parking was directly opposite the property and access to the moors is simple. The property is self contained with a wood burning stove and this was already laid on arrival and ready to light. From the windows the moors are visible. If the weather had been better we had garden we could use. Lydford itself is a beautiful village with a lot of history and the wonderful Lydford Gorge is nearby within walking distance.
The table in the dining area is small with high chairs so not one easy to use and relax it, you have to perch. Given the space a traditional kitchen table would be hard to include but would have been nice.

fabulous renovation .Top quality . very clean , cosy and well equipped. great location
loved it all but didn’t realise the garden was so small and sheep next door with a gap in fence so unfortunately didn’t feel safe to let our young border collie off leash for a run around which would have been nice .

Beautifully presented barn conversion. Perfect for us and our 2 dogs. The wood burner kept us cosy during the wintry Dartmoor days and nights. Lydford is a quiet village, easy to get to some lovely walks.
