Breakfast was excellent. The Chef made sure I never went without and made sure I was happy throughout.
Having to go to bed eventually as the bar was closing. Rishi and his whole family were excellent hosts in every way. Loved their company.

The field of cows next door.
Comfy bed
No chef, so no dinner and no breakfast and no advanced notice about this. We were offered alternative venues but that's hardly why one stays in a pub! If it hadn't been so late and after a very long journey we would have cancelled on the spot. The pub was due to change hands the following week and I wish the new owners luck!
There was no advertised info about the outside steep stairs to the rooms, hopeless if you have any mobility issues.
Limited parking on site-not sure where you'd park otherwise

Great staff and friendly locals

We had a good view across fields and shower had plenty of power.
We booked with a plan to arrive later, eat at the pub and retire early. The kitchen was closed so no food available and has been like this since April. No mention on the site that food was not available. This meant we had to get back in the car to find a meal. Also. No one around to hand keys to on check out.

Great rural location nice and quiet
Unfortunately kitchen was closed. But they did recommend the pub 5 minutes down the road where the food was fantastic

Staff were lovely, nice location and clean functional room
The room was super hot and stuffy and was difficult to sleep as a result. A fan would be lovely.
4.2
Attractive, nice rooms
Kitchen closed.
Returned from a meal out at 9pm on a Saturday evening to find the pub closed.
No one around to hand the key to Sunday morning other than a cleaner who didn’t speak much English
4.2
Not a lot
Room was like a motel, no corridor just opened to the garden and field.
There was no chef, so no breakfast option.
Pub shut at 7 pm

The accommodation was excellent. A cosy, clean and very comfortable room, and great bathroom, with beautiful and peaceful views of countryside, and a little patio. Very friendly and welcoming Pub Manager who couldn’t have been more helpful. Great value for money.

We stayed at the Dog and Crook to attend a family birthday in Romsey. Due to timing I had previously emailed to see if we could drop the car off ahead of check in and this was agreed. We arrived around midday and not only were we able to leave the car but check in ahead of schedule for no additional charge. In order to get to the birthday we needed to get a taxi and when the local taxi firm couldn't help one of the team from the Dog and Crook very kindly dropped us into Romsey for the lunch, going above and beyond! The staff were all friendly and helpful and will definitely keep the Dog and Crook in mind for any future visits.
We were really luck that our experience was good, some may have found that the kitchen being closed was a problem but it didn't affect our stay in any way. The team do seem a little stretched sometimes but that seems to be the world we live in but to reiterate it didn't impact our stay at all but others may have a different view.

Couldnt give diner due to staff shortage. Bur especially service at breakfast was below standard

The area was really nice, the room was a decent size and the staff were friendly
I just think that the price for what it was was too expensive. It's just a basic room and bathroom and because of the type of building it was you could hear every other guest walking around and the floors were very loud and creeky. The full size mirror wasn't mounted on the wall either so you couldn't actually stand and see yourself properly in it which was a bit annoying. The mattress was a bit lumpy and there was a very bright green light in our room which you couldn't turn off and it kept us awake

Excellent location

Liz was very helpful and so were all the staff. Liked the country atmosphere of the pub and how down to earth everyone was. Really liked the fact accommodation was separate from the pub and it was very peaceful.
Liked everything.
4.2
Comfortable and clean room.
Good food in the evening.
Friendly staff and nice busy atmosphere in the pub.
Easy to get to Southampton cruise terminal from here.
It would have been nice if the heating in the rooms had been switched on mid-afternoon as both rooms we booked were very cold on arrival!
