Great location. The double room with bath was very good, beautiful, big and cosy. The staff was very nice. I didn´t try their fried breakfast because there were no gluten free options. Only to say that the traffic from the main road was very loud in the room.

Nice little niche hotel off the main road. Has its own designated parking and limited EV chargers. You have your own kettle to make tea/coffee in your own room. Bar and restaurant attached so food and drinks are minutes away. If you are a light sleeper just be aware if you are near the road you can hear the cars all night so maybe bring someear plugs. Otherwise a pleasant stay.

The wifi wasn't working and there was no hot water during our stay

Staff were fantastic so so friendly. Room was lovely bed comfortable only thing was we had the most thinnest of pillows and the plumbing made a noise for quite a while.

Room was dirty the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in with worn out pillows. The over sized Tv didn’t work. The room door nearly locked and the fire shutter was hanging off. The signs make reference to the new smoking regulations asking you to refrain from smoking. It was beyond tired it was disgusting. I forgot to mention the lack of WiFi and when we asked about breakfast yes but only from 8:30 and it would be her son as they don’t stay on the premises. I don’t blame them.

One night stay in this period property. Callum very friendly as head of house with his talented brother as chef. Food was very nice bar well stocked. Our Room was clean & comfortable with a en-suite toilet & shower it was overlooking the car park as asked for quieter room than one in the front with the noisy traffic as on a main road in & out. Definitely stay again & hope to meet the rest of the family. We’ll bring a few bottles of Rattler for you next time 😆

From the road the hotel looks nice, ample parking at rear. Linked to the pub which was pleasant. I had a single room that only had a sink to wash. No toilet or shared facilities on my upstairs room. Had to go down to the pub for toilet. Im a frequent user of hotels n guesthouses around the area and was surprised at the lack of facilities..the room faced the road and was very noisy from fast moving traffic so sleeping wasnt good..for me,.no hurry to go back!

Stayed one night to attend a gig close enough to walk to town centre

There was no WiFi in the rooms. I had to change rooms to access WiFi. The furniture in the room was inconvenient for working. The mattress was worn out and needed to be changed. There was too much noice at times. The place needs some serious renovation.

We booked for one night, 2 double rooms, we were attending our daughter’s graduation at Ntu. A really nice tradition hotel with a fantastic pub.
Safe really friendly. Only a 18 min walk into centre of Derby. The rooms were quaint and the four poster bed looked beautiful but very creaky!
The bathroom was clean. We checked out early so didn’t sample breakfast as breakfast wasn’t until 9!!
No hairdryers.
Yes we would stay again.

What can I say, I'm sure years ago this was a magnificent hotel but now it's dated, dirty and needs a complete overhaul. Couldn't even shower as the shower head was all black and mouldy, yuck! I don't ask for alot but cleaneses and a decent shower is a must. Only thing the hotel had going for it was the location. Would definitely not recommend or go back

As I was only visiting friend I didn't really stay in the hotla that long except to sleep and have breakfast. But all told it was a good stay.

Nice hotel in a period building close to the centre with free parking

This is a lovely quirky historic pub / hotel. If you want modern trendy, contemporary or minimalist; then this is not the place for you. We liked it. No breakfast, but we knew that. Cafe down the road and city centre not far away.

Had no issues with property or staff.

Very friendly check in. Old building, hence old windows and shower in ensuite. Excellent bed, short walk to the city centre, nice neighbourhood. On site bar/restaurant. Tea/coffee station in room. Big tv. Great towels. Good value.

The staff were very nice and helpful. Some of the room were difficult to find. We had 3 room and the bathroom sizes were very different one was very small.

What a beautiful, period hotel in a fantastic location. Staff were excellent, hotel spotless, breakfast wonderful, and the Tavern was great.

Lovely hotel , well worth the price and hospitality. Room was clean and tidy and good location. Reception was lovely and could not feel more at ease .

Despite the best efforts of the owner / manageress and her barman, our one-night stay can only be described as awful. The hotel is dirty (no less than 5 spiders in our room!), the décor is antiquated, the curtains let light in, there were no net curtains even though we were in a ground floor room (so the whole street could see us get dressed), there were very few plugs, the extra set of towels were left outside our room on the dirty FLOOR, the wifi did not reach the room and was only available in the lounge, the sink was cracked and the shaving water drained through the hole, the single bed was so old that it felt like a canoe, there was no breakfast... I'm sorry, but it really was like a stay in hell.

I could not fault anything; Staff helpful & polite, room was better than the booking suggested at such a competitive price. Would not hesitate to stop again if in the area. :)

Our second visit for a one night stay. Always a warm welcome from Karen, who is hugely helpful. It is a very quirky hotel in need of considerable updating, especially the bathrooms. Breakfast is very good. It has a really lively and friendly bar with beams and open fires. Free Wi-fi and parking, which is a priority for us.

The staff were extremely helpful, far over and above the norm and delightful! They even got me a warm dinner after the kitchen closed as well as organising a tour of the minibrewery too and printing maps for me to find my way around Nottingham even - unbelievably helpful!!

very friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend this hotel as a stay to anyone. Ambience very good. It is not often one gets to stay in a hotel that has its own brewery and brews good beer.

Very nice stay, lovely people and overall the hotel was really good value for money.

This is a lovely old hotel and also has a bar attached. The food is really good value and the breakfast was large. We were lucky enough to have a four poster room which was a nice surprise, very comfy bed. Would stay again.
