About this villa rental
Villa Amore is a beautiful, Tuscan-style, luxury villa offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.
Villa Amore features 4 spacious guest suites. The primary guest suite on the main floor provides a king bed, large walk-in closet with safe and a full 4-piece en suite bathroom with a double-sink vanity and a bidet. The remaining 3 guest suites, located on the upper level, each provide a queen bed and a daybed which convert to (2) twin/single beds, accommodating up to 4 guests per guest suite. Each guest suite offers a full 3-piece en suite bathroom and walk-in closet with a safe.
Full-time chef services are offered and included in your luxury rental. This includes breakfast and dinner preparation, serving, and clean-up (Monday-Saturday). Guests are required to purchase their own groceries, ingredients and beverages. Or, if you prefer, our caretakers will be happy to provide shopping service for a nominal fee.
Guests can enjoy a spacious, custom-designed chef’s kitchen. It is fully equipped with an expansive refrigerator and freezer with ice-maker, professional Italian cooktop range and oven, wine cooler fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, toaster oven, coffee & espresso maker, blender, and all the necessary cooking and baking utensils. Just off the kitchen is an oversized outdoor terrace, featuring a BBQ grilling area with sink and an extendable dining table, allowing you to enjoy the natural beauty encompassing the entire villa and ocean view, surrounded by lush tropical gardens.
Just minutes from the villa, brings you to a couple small, natural beaches. These beaches may too rugged for swimming but they are an amazing place to spread out a towel and relax, collect shells, and take in the surrounding serene beauty. When the tide is low, you can hike along the lava rock and swim or snorkel with the tropical fish in the shallow tidal pools.
Villa Amore is only a 5 minute drive from beautiful Playa Carrillo. In March 2013, Travel and Leisure Magazine featured it in the Top 25 secret beaches in the world. The magazine describes it as a white-sand beach framed by mountains and just off a boulevard lined by palm trees. It is safe to swim, surf or just lounge under the palm trees and try out a fresh coconut water or a flavored shaved ice, from one of the local vendors . It is perfect for an early morning walk along this 2 km beach and top if off with a relaxing massage from a local beach vendor or you can enjoy a beautiful sunset at the end of the day. The beach is protected by rocky headlands and provides calm, warm water for all swimmers.

Now we know why all of the reviews were rated best of the best! We had four families sharing the property with ages ranging from 2 to 68 and everyone had the best time ever. Alex and Jen are the best hosts and their culinary skills are amazing. We had every meal at the villa with the exception of their day off. The property is very much as advertised with plenty of room for our group of 12. One of those trips that no one wanted to leave with guaranties that we will all be back!

This was our second trip to Carrillo. We love the area, and the beaches are beautiful! Laura was great during the booking process, and Alex and Jenny were so helpful and easy to communicate with. The house is gorgeous, with amazing ocean views. The food was delicious, we ate in every night! Jenny kept the house so clean, and even did our laundry when needed. Right from the beginning Laura was absolutely amazing with communication and giving recommendations for planning excursions and all those little details for things! The house was stunning! Alex and Jenny far exceeded our expectations and by day 2 felt like part of our family! The house was always immaculate, food was top tier and just being able to spend time and conversation with them was amazing! Costa Rica definitely did not disappoint in any way! We couldn’t have asked for a better vacation. The house was immaculate and had everything we needed. Alex and Jennifer were amazing. We enjoyed all the meals they cooked and eating on the patio was such a treat.
The location was wonderful too. I felt like all my research had paid off when a local resident asked us in surprised how we found Playa Carrillo. It is the most beautiful beach. We felt very fortunate to have been able to experience the culture, food and beaches all in one trip. Can’t wait to return!

The check-in process was easy. Alex was anticipating our arrival and was ready to greet us as we stepped out of the car. Alex and Jenny are fantastic concierges. They made recommendations for activities, did some of our grocery shopping, and prepared breakfast and dinner upon our request. It was a welcomed treat to have them do some of the cooking and clean up afterwards. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Keep in mind that the only enclosed areas of the home are the bedrooms so the shared living spaces and kitchen are open to nature and do not have air cond. This was not an issue for us as it was easy to cool off in the gorgeous infinity pool that overlooks the Pacific! I would like to point out that the dishwasher did not work so we did need to hand wash dishes. It did not wash or rinse dishes properly.
The location was convenient to Carrillo and Samara. There is a small grocery store about five minutes down the road that we found most of our food supplies. For more options, there is a larger grocery store (Pali) in Samara.
Nature is abound! We saw spider monkeys near the house and many colorful birds. There are fruit trees next to the house that would be lovely during the wetter seasons. We visited during the dry season so there was not yet fruit on the trees.
We enjoyed zip lining, chartering a private boat, and simply relaxing around the house.
Overall, the home felt like a Costa Rican gem! Thank you for hosting us! Pura Vida!

Amazing first trip to Costa Rica. The pool was great for the kids (some pool toys/floats were available to use). Lots of wildlife on the property/nearby (we went tidepooling a couple of times, saw humpback whales, monkeys, lots of birds). The property was very clean and looked like the pictures. We did not rent a car, but almost all excursions would pick us up. We loved Alex & Jenny!

Villa Amore was an amazing experience. The pictures do not do this place justice!!! The most beautiful ocean view and so much wildlife to see. This was our second time in Costa Rica and we’ll definitely stay here again when we come back. It’s close to Samara which is a neat little town. Make sure to bring a sleep mask as the sun rises very early. (5:30 am while we were there!) Alex and Jenny helped provide an incredibly relaxing trip! Every meal was delicious!

The stay was absolutely fabulous! View of the oceanfront property was out of this world. The staff was remarkable and exceptional! The food divine! The property is top tier!!!! Even the hired drivers were very responsive, such gentleman and beyond caring and sweet! To airport attendants were incredible. The people on the island so caring so kind! But back to the house and Laura again top tier!!!!!!! Highly recommend and I’ll be back very, very soon! Oh and did I mention the infinity pool! Absolutely incredible and again the view of the Pacific Ocean can be seen from every room. The plush greenery so beautiful! Everything and everyone simply beautiful!

We had an absolutely terrific vacation at Villa Amore! The property was magnificent and exactly how it was represented in the listing and photos. After our stay, we couldn’t think of anything that could have been done to improve our experience. As far as Alex and Jenny go…there is nothing to be said that hadn’t already been said. They are wonderful people….a pair of jewels….kind, attentive and incredibly helpful. Regarding meals, they accommodated everything we asked. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. As I told them….”on a 10 scale, spending a week at Villa Amore is a solid 10”…..but spending a week at Villa Amore staffed by Alex and Jenny is an easy “15.” We can’t recommend this property highly enough.

Alex and Jenny were amazing hosts the property had amazing views was so well kept , close to so many things to do. Our stay could not have been better. Unbelievable experience went by so fast. The food was incredible, we will be back !!!!!!! Stay here versus anywhere else!! Cannot beat it . Great special touch by Laura and a bottle of wine. Our first night was so very appreciated. First off, the pictures you see on this listing are 100% exactly what you get when you walk in! Villa Amore is nothing short of amazing and you will not regret the time you spend here nor will you want to leave. My husband and I booked Villa Amore with our friends (adults only trip) to celebrate his 50th birthday and every single one of us was blown away not by just the house and location, but by our caretakers, Jenny and Alex as well. They made Villa Amore feel like our home away from home for the week that we stayed. Cooked AMAZING meals for us (I think we tried almost everything on the menu) and even helped us set up our tours that picked us up straight from the Villa. There were no details missed, every room was extremely clean. We could not have asked for a better vacation for our first time in Costa Rica. I really can't wait to book and stay here again.

Our family (parents with boys ages 20 and 18) wanted to try somewhere new for a family vacation besides United States beaches. This house was recommended by a friend and was a perfect getaway. Alex and Jenny were wonderful hosts. The house was a great setting to relax in each day after a tour. Alex was a wonderful chef and that was a true vacation for me, to have someone else do the cooking. Laura recommended a great travel agency who booked our tours and we were able to experience several different things in the area and the country. I would highly recommend this house!!!

Laura's house was large and beautiful. It accomodated our 14 family members. Beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water for showers, the living area was large as well as the kitchen. The infinity swimming pool was a highlight. The location was beautiful. An all wheel drive vehicle makes the steep incline driveway more manageable. Every comfort during our stay was met from the gorgeous home and its amenities to the caretakers Alex and Jen. Their meals were delicious and their 'caretaking' appreciated. Alex also assists with any tour you may be interested in. Complimentary laundry service was also a plus. Jen kept us well supplied with pool towels! Laura loaned my daughter some clothes after hers were stolen from her car at the Playa Carillo beach.Thank you Laura!

Villa Amore was an absolutely perfect location to celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary with our family. We had seven adults and two children in our party. The property is beautifully nestled in the lush mountainside near Playa Carillo and overlooks the Pacific offering incredible sunsets and sunrises. The bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms were very comfortable and we felt pampered in the beautiful master suite. The caretakers, Alex and Jenny, provided home cooked meals and kept the villa incredibly clean. We had such fun interacting with them and becoming their friends. The owner and host, Laura was very responsive, helpful and patient with the family providing additional info on property location and even pharmacies that were open on Sunday as we made our trek from the Liberia Airport . She also surprised us with a bottle of Prosecco which we enjoyed after our vow renewal on gorgeous Playa Carillo...just minutes from the property. Thank you Laura!
Everyone enjoyed the beautiful saltwater pool, eating together in the covered outdoor dining room and hikes to nearby beaches while Alex helped us book excursions. We were often serenaded by Howler and white faced monkeys playing in the trees in the backyard and the kids couldn't get enough of all the crabs and lizards as well as combing the beach for shells. The Costa Rican people are incredibly friendly and generous and that combined with this beautiful property made a vacation of a lifetime for us all! So grateful!

We had the best time at this villa! We traveled to Costa Rica for my 50th birthday along with three other couples. Laura, the property owner, helped answer any questions we had ahead of time and she even lined up Sunset yoga for us which was amazing!
The best part of the villa was Jenny & Alex, the caretakers. They are absolutely amazing! They prepared us breakfast and dinner on most days and all the meals were delicious. Alex also helped line up some excursions and was very helpful with that as well.
We hope to return to Costa Rica someday and would definitely come stay at this villa again.

Everything about the house was amazing. The pool and outdoor living areas were just what we needed on a winter vacation with the views out to the ocean and the gorgeous sunsets every night. But the most amazing thing about the house is Alex and Jenny who made this a place we decided to continue to visit. Hubby and I traveled here with our 4 & 6 year old and my parents. We all agree it was one of the best vacations ever. It was so nice to not have to worry about cooking or cleaning. The food that Jenny and Alex prepared was delicious and they were so accommodating -- always available for anything we needed and never intrusive. The pool was PERFECT for our kids. It has a shallow side where they could stand which was a pleasant surprise because our 4 year old was just learning to swim and before we knew the pool was built that way we were concerned about him not wanting to get in. He ended up learning to swim here!!! The view... gorgeous. Every night we watched the sunset from the pool area. The layout of the home is perfect with ensuite bathrooms for each bedroom plus a half bath off the living area and another half bath accessed from the exterior (great for when little ones need to go potty but they're soaking wet coming directly from the pool!). The two outdoor showers were helpful especially when returning from the beach. For us, the secluded location was great as we spent a lot of time relaxing at the house. On the days the kids were exhausted (or too sunburnt to be outside!) we were able to find some nice games and a coloring book to spend some indoor time with them. And last but not least, the owner/host, Laura, was pleasant to communicate with before and during our stay and even connected us with a concierge/travel agency weeks in advance. We hope to return!!!

The pictures you see online of the villa are great however within 30 seconds of stepping on the property in person we were even more impressed and immediately knew we had made the perfect decision. It’s hard to put into words a review for this incredibly beautiful property. From the second the gates open you feel like you are driving up to your dream home. From the entrance, to the infinity pool over looking the ocean to the loungers by the pool and area to eat overlooking the ocean. Everything is top notch! And this review wouldnt be complete without mentioning the amazing Alex and Jenny! The dynamic duo that cook for you and make you feel so pampered. We messaged Alex enquiring about a cooler for the beach and within minutes he appeared with one for us. I can’t say enough about the quality of their hostility. We travelled with my sister in law and her fiancé and my mother and father in law. It was absolutely perfect. The driveway is steep but we enjoyed the workout walking up and down after our walks to the beach nearby. We would without a doubt book this property again. Laura the owner answered a million questions and helped us communicate to Alex and Jenny about our delay the evening we arrived. They held off and made us dinner at 9:00pm due to our delayed flight and it was amazing after our long day. Villa Amore = Best Vacation Ever
Villa Amore exceeded our expectations! The house is absolutely perfect! The views are breathtaking. Everything is just as advertised. Alex and Jenny are the best hosts. They are very friendly, accommodating and the food prepared was so delicious…like eating at a five star restaurant every day! The owner is very informative and friendly as well. Everything about this trip has been perfect for our family of five. We saw Howler monkeys multiple times in nearby trees and Capuchin monkeys! We LOVED zip-lining at Wingnuts, horseback riding in Carrillo and surf lessons in Samara (all of these excursions planned by Alex and Jenny). Also, the local tidal pools were a sweet surprise. Beautiful hike and waterfall in the town of Estrada. We plan to visit again in the near future! Gracias and Pura Vida.

Alex and Jenny are a gem!
Alex and Jenny made our stay incredible! They took care of my family and I whether it was a delicious meal for family of six or making sure we had a ride into town. Their incredible care to detail overshadowed the fact that there was a miscommunication with the current owner who took an unpleasant tone with me. Yet, Alex and Jenny made our stay at the villa a relaxing experience.
One thing to note is if you’re not renting a car, you’ll have to pay approximately $50 round trip for a taxi into Samara (the small town nearby) or $30 round trip for Playa Carrillo.

Absolute paradise
There is not much to share that has not been already. This is a stunning villa with spectacular views, and an amazing infinity edge pool. So relaxing we never wanted to leave. Playa Carrillo is a paradise and the town of Samara is just wonderful with great food, shops, and culture. Alex and Jenny are lovely and took such great care of us I cannot say enough. Great cooks, very knowledgeable and helpful with our travels, they really go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. Not only will we return to playa Carrillo, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Simply paradise on earth. Pura vida.

We loved this house and the view. Watching the unforgettable sunsets every night while eating the deliciously prepared dinner (by Alex and Jenny) has spoiled us forever. Everything exceeded our expectations. If I had to find a negative thing to say, the only thing would be that there’s not much shade anywhere on hot afternoons. That was the only discomfort which really isn’t anything to complain about given everything else.

12 Days in Paradise
I don’t often write reviews. Being raised in the southernmost region of the United States, we’re taught if you “don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything, at all.” However, I would truly be remiss if I didn’t share the wonderful experience our group had during our stay at Villa Amore. The villa is incredible, the views breathtaking, but the caretakers, Jenny and Alex elevate this property to another pinnacle. Anyone can have a beautiful home, but Alex and Jenny are warm, welcoming, and anticipated our every need. They’re wonderful chefs, and we quickly learned that there was no reason to eat out a single meal. They’re just amazing!
