Unique setting in what I have come to know is just a lovely friendly City

Staff were typically so friendly and made me feel welcomed as I had my birthday up there on my own. My daughter who lives in Sheffield had to go to Manchester after my first day there. So birthday spent on my own...or so I thought. Ellie and Natalie were barstaff STARS, even buying me chocolates and writing a little happy birthday message. The 80's night on my last evening there was just so friendly and I met some new people I will stay in touch with ready for my next trip up before Christmas.

A quiet word to the Senior Management/ Owners having been in Hospitality myself. Your staff are going above and beyond for the hotel. Too much pressure I think. You have a lovely unique place. Look at your staffing structure and future planning and invest in your business. Hopefully you will reap the rewards with staff already dedicated. Make them feel happy and appreciated. Would love to see the change next time I stay. Yes plan to visit again.

I'd come back here again but only for a last resort kind of thing due to cleanliness.

The quietness of the area during night time and the willingness of staff when i requested for some assistance on something or something to be looked into, staff was very helpful! breakfast was good too.

Overall the room and breakfast was god but i did notice there was stains/dirt under the toilet and sinks, carpet wasn't even hoovered as i could feel bits of rubble and such forcing me to keep my socks/shoes on.

Do not stay if disabled! Facilities not great and ramp very steep esp. if in wheelchair.

Breakfast was great very accommodating to allow me to take our breakfast to the room as couldn't get disabled guest to breakfast room. Staff very friendly good for accommodation for gigs in town.

Not very disabled friendly, ramp incredibly steep and bumpy, disabled bathroom had normal very small toilet with only 1 bar ( no photos of bathroom on site). Lots of stains on the carpets and bathroom was dirty had faeces on the floor and seat no toilet brush to clean. Bed very soft and lumpy. Disabled parking space not available as staff had parked in the way so had to leave the car in the way to get to the room. Breakfast room is up 2 flights of stairs so not disabled friendly but not told this when booking.

Rooms spacious value for money everthing you needed.breakfast was plenty we enjoyed it .despite few issues stay again.like a ghost town after 11.30 so was quiet . staff were very nice .

Car parking was an issue .1st time been to hotel disabled spaces for cars reserved .told for disabled rooms only.normally 1st come served got blue badge .no one in them with a barrier in front when we arrived.we did get parked in the end but was very tight .broken toilet seat hinges bit rusty. informed the hotel when we left was apologetic. Could done with iron and board in the room.to be fair I didn't ask for one.dining room upstairs may be an issue got mobility problems, no lift.no room service got back 11.30 all eateries were shut ,rang around for delivery gave up in the end .Guess used to 24 hr further south.

So much potential

The garrison was such a beautiful building! With so much potential.

The interior was old and out dated rooms were not clean stains on bedding and the breakfast was quite disappointing.

Excellent building and food in a central location

Really lovely building with great character. Excellent choice of breakfast options. Excellent meal in the pub. Receptionist was extremely helpful

Nothing-room was initially cold because the radiator was off-but soon warmed up when we switched it on.

Great value, great staff

Booked this hotel to be able to attend a family funeral. We didn't really know the area but the hotel was in a very good central position. The staff were very amenable even adding another table so we could join other family members in the dining room in the evening at very short notice. The food is reasonably priced, attractively set out and delicious. Very good varied and substantial breakfast. Nice bar area. The room was large as was the bathroom. All modern facilities. Very warm and attractively laid out. Lots of storage space for clothes. Bed very comfortable and immaculate bed linen and towels. Toiletries very much appreciated and good quality. Parking was a great bonus. I can't hesitate in recommending this hotel. We will definitely stay her again if in that area.

The only drawback I found was lots of steps, my mobility isn't 100 per cent although I managed. It was worth it for the lovely room and surroundings.
