Hotel room is cold damp and unclean, room was very standard bed ancient tv and a wardrobe, bugs clearly visible on the carpet! Wallpaper ripped and falling off walls bed uncomfortable very basic bumpy mattress food was delicious at restaurant but very limited choice. Good job didn’t pay full price as got the night stay on a deal

My boyfriend and I had a lovely 3 night stay at this wonderful hotel. Staff were very pleasent and acomdating and catered for our pet dog.
Wonderful surroundings and civer lots of history. Had a lovely old feel and very relaxed attitude and not stuck up.
Not the most modern but you can get that anywhere. Brilliant architecture.
Would visit again.

Went for two nights but different this time ,the lovely library bar not open any more in castle ,and berties restaurant closed, have to use other bar and restaurant now which nowhere near good enough as the other two,
The rooms lovely ,clean and warm include bath etc cleanliness of rooms excellent but why the toilets in the castle itself look like something from 1960 i dont know,i know its a castle and want to keep it looking like one, but i feel the toilets should be brought up to date now,as im sure it would put a lot of people' off getting married in the castle with toilets of that standard.
Obviously not a criticism of stay but just a few improvements neeeded.

Absolutely stunning place most staff were lovely, only thing to let it down, the cleanliness, the bedside tables near the sockets was a thick layer of dust and in the bathroom roller blind was full of squashed bugs (just a lack of attention to detail).and part of the bath was broken and the breakfast was pretty standard, but we stayed in room 207, the prince of wales suite and the room was gorgeous and we went on a walk round the grounds was amazing, the woman who greeted us at reception was lovely I didn’t catch her name but she had short hair and glasses, made us feel very welcomed,

We took our eldest partner from Thailand to experience a castle for a couple of nights. They / we loved it. We've recommend it. The town is beautiful ( I want to move there) stunning beauty of North Wales.

Staff was very nice and helpful. Bedroom was good, bed on the soft side. Bathroom modernized, but being a bath the shower was a bit weird, as water was going outside. It was ok though and good temperature . The overall room was a bit dated but understandable as it is an old property. Lovely view to next door farms and countryside. A bit of noise could be heard from the next room and even some movement on the wall/ back of the bed. But no outside noises at all. Great lovely gardens and lots of animals around. Spa was very good and lovely outdoors hot tub! Breakfast good, nice dinning area (be sure to reserve your slot on time) . The low points go to the cleaning, it could have been better (some dirt on bathroom and windows). Good location , walk to town. Overall good.

If you like history and antiques like I do, what better place than to stay in a real, authentic castle! Tastefully decorated with alot of the original character features! I thought I'd died and gone to heaven!

Lovely place to come and relax. We liked the many peacocks that were freely roaming around the grounds. Staff on reception were so happy and welcoming. Spa facilities were good. Recommend the mud rasul! Food was lovely

Absolutely gorgeous grounds with a mixture of gardens, ruins and even a henge! Our room was huge with massize bay windows but had an overwhelming odor of cologne. Fortunately it aired out after a while.

Really beutifiul setting and picturesque castle. room was huge, comfy bed, some fittings such as hairdrier a bit dated.
the spa is nice, although you only get a strict one hour in the hot tub when you book in, which is a bit of a shame

A great spot to stay if you find your self in North Wales. A lovely hotel with lots of history. I stayed in the most basic room and it was the best room I stayed in the whole trip ! A great value for the price.. just watch out for the poop 💩

The worst I have ever seen!
This is not 4 star hotel and definitely not luxurious. It should be closed down!
We've been put in the room with mold and rotten doors! Damp coming through the ceiling and no soap in the shower with lots of red bacteria growing everywhere!
We immediately went to reception to ask for a room without the mold and they couldn't care less and said they are fully booked. We had to leave the hotel and the whole bank holiday weekend was ruined because we couldn't get into another hotel due to everywhere being fully booked!

Had a wonderful stay for one night. It is a castle and do not expect the luxury of a 5 star hotel as they are keeping it authentic. Good sized. Bathroom and very comfortable. Great grounds that you can walk for miles. Staff excellent and dining room superb.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful area. The small village has 1 or 2 dinner possibilities around the market place and is charming - at least the center is. The hotel could use a lick of paint here ant there and you see that the owners do their best, but the castle is very large and surely there is much to do. They have tried to connect modernity and antique, of which I like the latter more. I visited the fitness studio, which was ok. There is a restaurant in the hotel with good food and cool beer. Be prepared to meet sheep lingering outside when you walk to your car. When we were there, there were enough parking spaced.

Lovely, characterful place to stay in a beautiful town.
Friendly staff, lovely grounds, beautiful country walks just a short walk away, the town was a little quiet on a Tuesday night but we still found a lovely restaurant to eat in.
Highly recommended!

Impressive property, beautiful grounds, lovely room, showerhead had pink mould, abit off putting but generally good .You can't sit outside to eat in the evening which is a shame and the casual dine menu that is on till 9 isn't.Check in 3 pm quite late if you have a baby but check out was 12.The lady in charge of restaurant taking payment never smiled or spoke, the other members of staff Kate and Barbara on reception very proffesional.Breakfast underwhelming, fruit salad I imagined allsorts but was prunes and oranges only.Bread was ready sliced plastic wrap bread.Peacocks, rabbits the odd sheep wonderful to observe.7 out of 10.We would return but lower expectations for breakfast.

The castle was full of character and the surrounding grounds wonderful. Facilities were excellent and staff really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Pleasant large air conditioned room. Nice surroundings. Good value for money. We will return.
Only negative was damp on ceiling, which we could forgive due to nature of the building and being on the third floor.
The cleaning could have been a little better also.

We stayed at Ruthin Castle for the second year in a row, and I have to say it did not go as smoothly as last year. We were offered an upgrade to a feature room, but it did not meet our needs so had to move to a 3rd room which was also far from ideal. The staff tried there best to help us but it proved to be a stressful experience finding a room we were happy with. We were booked for 3 nights, but did not properly unpack until late on Day 2. In hindsight, we should have kept the room we were given at the start as the upgrade offered proved to be a mistake.

Fascinating building in a beautiful setting. We required a room with our dog so chose a suite. On arrival we were blown away by the premises and it's location. Impressive entrance and brilliant receptionist, who showed me our room. Walking through the hotel, looking at the decor, artworks and history was a bonus. The suite we had, fulfilled all our needs especially as we had our dog. Apart from the bedroom with a bath, we had a shower room , study and walk in wardrobe. The extensive gardens and countryside were a pleasure to walk and the town was a 5 minute walk away. We enjoyed the food there and the garden was a great place to have a meal and drink. The peacocks were amazing and ok around our dog who even though a puppy wasn't bothered by them. The staff were very friendly and great with our dog. We booked the premises as a base to visit Snowdonia and Chester areas. The staff gave us a leaflet on the history of the building and castle, which helped appreciate the building even more. A wonderful experience and we will definitely return .
