The last of the sun can be accessed from the first floor balcony for an evening drink or al fresco meal. There is ample parking on the main driveway and from the bedroom to the front of the property you have lovely country views and can watch our hens and ducks enjoying Sloncombe life. Occasionally you can see deer and other wildlife in the paddock opposite. Really nice owners, in a really relaxing atmosphere of Dartmoor. We enjoyed it to stay there in the fully equipped old cowshed, modern furniture included. Space was for the four of us more than enough. The position was perfect to get within not a lot of time by car anywhere else in Dartmoor. If we will return to Dartmoor, for sure there again

Really lovely and attentive hosts who were happy to give advice on the local area. Wendy gave our son the opportunity to feed the ducks, which he loved.
Really lovely barn…the log fire was so cosy. The kitchen had everything we needed and we loved the open plan space.
It was peaceful and not to far away from day trips out. We loved the area and would definitely look to return!

We loved the Cowshed. It's roomy, yet cozy. The decor is lovely. Wendy is a great host. She provided concise directions and gave great recommendations for sites to see and places to eat. We had everthing we needed!
We were always happy to get back to our home away from home.
Five stars!

Great facilities for up to 4 people. Dishwasher, washing machine including tumble dryer - simply everything is available. The road to the apartment itself is an experience in itself. Beautifully situated just outside Moretonhampstead. From there you can quickly reach the moor, Exeter or Torquay by the sea.
We'd love to come back.

I can't recommend it enough. Everything about the property was perfect. It was so quiet and peaceful, with no light pollution after dark. I can't remember the last time I'd actually seen starts in the night sky.

The Cowshed is an exceptionally well-converted and furnished, with everything that you need for a comfortable stay. Communication with the owners was easy and we had everything that we needed in the property. We especially enjoyed the balcony and the very spacious bedroom. It is in a beautiful part of Devon, on the edge of Dartmoor but close to the small town of Moretonhampstead and the village of Chagford.

We had an absolutely amazing time. The cottage was beautiful - well-appointed, equipped with all modern amenities including a well-stocked kitchen. Very spacious and full of light, great outdoor space too. The location was also excellent- close to lots of stunning walks and scenic routes, as well as a walk away from shops, restaurants and bus stops. The hosts Wendy and husband were so kind, welcoming and hospitable, sharing many helpful tips with us about the surrounding area. Would highly recommend!

From the moment we arrived in this elegantly converted from building, we felt at home. The standard of the conversion is exceptional. The furnishings are perfect and you have everything you will need for a beautiful quiet holiday in the middle of glorious Devon. The owners live nearby and were extremely welcoming to us. We were able to entertain four extra friends in the beautiful walled garden behind the property for dinner, and our family including our grandchildren were able to visitors. The young grandchildren, in particular, loved visiting the ducks and chickens, and could run around in the very safe paddock.
The bathroom and kitchen in a self catering property often leave a lot to be desired – not in this case! The standard of the bathroom was wonderful including underfloor heating and beautifully designed.
The one-track lane leading to the property might be a little daunting if you arrive at night time, but we managed it well each day.
We can’t wait to come back again, and I would imagine that this would also be a fabulous place for a winter break with its wood burning stove.
Highly recommended!

A little jewel of a holiday home - wondefully refurbished. Beautiful, quiet surroundings and very friendly owners. We felt at home at once! Our teenage girls just loved feeding the ducks...

This is a great modernization of a country building. Very nicely furnished; very comfortable. Plenty of room for a couple's getaway. Located in a quiet lane with only animal sounds to disturb the peace. Nice upstairs balcony or enclosed patio to share breakfast through an evening. Close to village with very nice restaurants and pubs. Quick journey to get up onto the moors. Definitely recommended.

Peaceful and relaxing
Had a lovely long weekend at the cowshed during a fabulous heatwave. So peaceful and relaxing sitting on the decking in the sunshine. The owners were very helpful when we needed to contact them. Great location for exploring Dartmoor. Would definitely return.

Beautiful property in beautiful gardens
We loved our 5 days at the Cow Shed. Beautifully decorated and very functional. It was wonderful to sit and enjoy the sun on the deck, or the courtyard or in the garden. Great heating when it’s cold - under slab heating in the bathroom! Just watch the stairs up to the huge luxurious bedroom if you have dodgy knees.
We found the property mid way to everything we wanted to explore- and plenty of restaurants nearby in Moretonhampstead. We also bought a few easy meals at the local Co-Op to whip up in the well appointed kitchen.
Wendy is a great host. Thanks

Restful weekend away.
The Cowshed was comfortable and set in a beautiful and peaceful location. Information provided by Wendy before our visit and information in the property was really useful. We visited Drogo Castle and did the Hunter's Path Walk with a pit stop the Fingle Bridge Inn. We would highly recommended a stay at The Cowshed

Utterly Fabulous
The Cowshed is a delightful barn conversion in the grounds of a beautiful Manor House, thoughtfully and tastefully presented by Mark & Wendy, the friendly and helpful hosts. That said, my interaction with them during my stay was purely social as the facilities were faultless and I wanted for nothing. Highly recommended!

Fabulous accommodation and lovely owners
We stayed here for a week in September 2021 and it was a wonderful base. Clean, well organised and just as the listing described. Basics including dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls, towels, all bedding, washing up liquid and handsoap etc that you don't usually get! Wonderfully spacious for two adults, very comfortable beds and lovely setting. Will definitely visit again!

Luxurious, characterful, secluded and modernised
Very enjoyable and relaxed stay in this characterful, luxury barn which is completely modernised to a high standard including dimmable sets of ceiling lights. Clean and dust-free. Secluded location in the grounds of the manor but with private walled garden overlooked by your own balcony off the very spacious bedroom with TV and sofa. All other facilities are on the ground floor including a bathroom with good shower and a well-equipped kitchen-diner/lounge area with TV. Wifi worked well. Location good, close to Moretonhampstead and well positioned for exploring Dartmoor. Wendy was friendly and helpful, just next door. Friendly kitten came in through open bathroom window but left promptly the same way when requested! The overall experience has left us thinking of moving to Dartmoor!

Wonderful cosy accommodation designed to perfection. We couldn’t have chosen anything better and loved every minute of our stay. We’ll be returning at the earliest opportunity!

The Cowshed Moretonhamsted
Very good accommodation except for no bath, small double bed and main room chilly unless the strove was lit.

Relaxed break
The Cowshed provided us with the just the break we needed. The accommodation was immaculate and beautifully done. The hosts were very friendly and had even lit a log fire for us before we arrived. Lots of thought had been given to our comfort and safety during the pandemic. Plenty of information provided on the local area to help us make the most of our stay. We would recommend this to anyone looking for a complete break.

This is a spacious, modern and beautifully converted barn. The log burner was so comforting after each chilly day exploring Dartmoor. The local walks were many and invigorating. A great location! Lovely stay in the Moors
We had a lovely week away in this property. The location is great as a base for walking and for the amenities of the local town. The property is finished to a high standard with the balcony adding a comfortable outdoor space for reading and eating. Wendy and Mark were lovely and we could not ask for better hosts. They met us on arrival and gave us some tips of the local area. They valued our privacy but were on hand if needed. The only thing to be aware of during Covid is booking restaurants proved a little tricky with no phone reception, however the barn has WiFi to keep in contact with the outside world.
We would definitely recommend this property and would love to return in the future.
