Great location. Staff look after you

Good location on Pennine Way. Hot shower. Dinner OK. Comfortable bed
General poor quality and lack of attention to customer needs. Some staff not trained in customer service. Expected a cooked breakfast but only continental available.
3.1
Landlord was very good company. Good ale and evening meal, though limited choice. Cooked breakfast not available on first morning, but good on second. Would have liked a sugar free cereal and option of wholemeal bread.

We had a wonderful experience.
Great little pub, good pub food, breakfast was superb, and down to earth friendly owners.
As it stated on the their website, it's not a 5-star boutique hotel with white bedded linen, but it is a very cosy, and a very clean country B&B ideally located in Horton-in-Ribblesdale
Only that theirs not Free WiFi, and the mobile signal is very, very poor.
Great for creating conversations, rather that browsing Facebook, but not ideal what trying get hold of the kids!

Great staff, perfect location for the 3 peaks hike.
3.1
Very welcoming, if quite heavy on the rules for walkers (but appreciate must have dealt with years of muddy boots and wet clothing). Food was great and the room was cosy - just what was needed after the 3 peaks.
No shower in my room, only a bath and a jug - if I had been told beforehand I could have brought a flannel etc to make bathing easier.
No wifi and barely any phone signal in the property.
The location of the hotel provided via Booking.com and Google maps is incorrect, and sends you to The Golden Lion Inn (the other end of the village). Postcode provided sends you nearer by at least.

it was clean and bed was comfortable
it was very dated and had a carpeted bathroom
3.1
Excellent location for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks hike. Food was good.
Room was freezing. Room also very dated.
3.1
Great location for doing the 3 peaks challenge that one of us was undertaking. Breakfast was as ordered and good
Property was tired and old-fashioned. It states that it is not a boutique hotel, but was priced as if it was. Room small and ensuite also small and no shower
3.1
Great location and dinner
No wifi, tiny TV, old fashioned bedroom with cheap duvets. Staff were not especially friendly.
3.1
Friendly nice location nice menu. Nice bar.
Nothing not to like really. The landlord checked me in early but it’d be nice if their standard check in was a bit earlier.
3.1
Location was perfect for hiking the Pennine Way and the food in the restaurant was great.
The bedroom was over-scented possibly to hide a damp smell. While it was nice to have a bath tub, the toilet mascerator was especially loud and the carpeting in the room and bathroom appeared less than clean.
3.1
Great food (breakfast and dinner) and ideal location for Yorkshire Three Peaks.
No WiFi or 4G.

Nothing at all
The landlord of this property needs to read the bad reviews and look at the issues. Being in a job for 16 years doesn’t make you good; customer service at the crown is a zero.
I was warned about making any sound when I got back in from my Yorkshire Three Peaks and was told my data would be passed on to other guests, and I would have to compensate them? If any issues had been raised with the landlord.
Breakfast wasn’t offered, not doing an early morning one because they are NOT. That was the reason.
The worse stay I have had this year and £140 for the pleasure.
Rude and unwelcoming if you don’t want walkers to stay at your pub, then update your website and booking com
Information is key

The location is excellent and ideal for the three peaks.

Very friendly hosts. Very good food, beer and service. Comfortable bar area. Excellent location for walking the Pennine Way and visiting local areas.
Amenities in the room were a bit basic but functional.

The location was very good n easy to find, much more to do than first thought. Would definitely return again. Staff very welcoming and informative. The food was really good 👍
No complaints ,very happy with everything.

excellent menu.
Beds narrow and hard

Would it kill them to get wifi? Horton isn't great for phone signal and this pub in particular seems to be in a dead spot. Not handy when you're trying to coordinate meeting friends or find your booking reference.

I reckon anyone who doesn't like it here needs to take along hard look at themselves. This is a 'proper' Yorkshire Village walkers hotel with surroundings to match. It's got some history for sure. If you don't want that, then try elsewhere. If you're expecting life's luxuries and a spa break, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU! But if you're getting up at six in the morning to do a 10 hour walk, then are you really the type looking for that kind of luxury?
Some of the reviews I've read on here match the attitudes of some of the customers that I witnessed whilst I was sitting quietly in the corner of the bar with my pint(s) of Old Peculier. Self entitled, no-mannered, chippy attitude kind of annoyances. No wonder Fred and Sandra get sick of it! Yes, 'Fred & Sandra'. Did many of the people with the one-star reviews bother to try to engage, converse and get to know them? Well I did, and found them to be honest, straightforward, no b/s people, from the village in which they're trying to make a living. Proper Yorkshire folk.
Here's the important things to me in a place like this....
Loads of hot water on demand - Tick
Comfy bed - Tick
Quality beer - Tick (Old Peculier and Black Sheep)
Decent grub - Tick - (Steak pie on Friday was nice with chunky steak, Lasagne on Saturday was delicious as was the treacle pud & custard. Breakfast was a wide choice and good quality)
Good atmosphere in the bar - Tick (busy and buzzy)
Quality location - Big Tick (goes without saying).
Look, you'll not get sky tv or netflix or whatever. If that's what you want, then what are you doing here?
And you might not get reception on your phone inside The Crown. Oh no!! - horror!! Check out the thickness of the walls, it might explain a bit! :-) Then again, I see lack of phone reception to be something to celebrate if you're getting away from it all tbh.....
Just go here, and go with a decent attitude.
Loved it all!

The location was perfect for the 3 peaks and some cycling
Booked two en-suite rooms, on arrival was surprised that we were allocated one without. No other rooms available as fully booked. We didn’t cause a fuss

Great location. Good breakfast.
Staff didn't seem too happy but was helpful. Room/decor a little tired

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Great food and great pints.
Nothing to dislike
3.1
Fantastic location for walking the peaks, helpful friendly staff. Landlord gave advise on the walks and even came out and pointed us in the right direction.
Great food and generous portions.
Having read some of the reviews before the stay our expectations were low but they exceeded them!! Rooms were a little dated but clean, quiet and comfortable and really enjoyed our stay. Thank you!!
