What a gem finding this B&B. The owners, Maggie and Charles couldn’t have been more helpful. The farmhouse is, I believe, 14th century and has huge and very comfortable rooms. Maggie and her friend Julie make fantastic breakfasts with a good choice of locally produced food. Try the black pudding. I thought I had gone to heaven.
There are plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby for your evening meal, at a very reasonable price. Just ask Maggie and she will point you to the best ones, depending on your preference of foods.
In less than a mile from the farm there is Fountains Abbey, a National Trust property which, in my opinion is the best NT place I have visited. The Abbey ruins are unbelievable.
It is a working farm with livestock and arable land. I enjoyed leaning on the wall and watching some of the daily work taking place.
We very rarely go back to a place we have been to, as there are so many places to visit in the UK. It is unlikely, therefore, that we will return, but if we did return to this area, this would be at the top of our list. Thank you, Maggie.
There was not anything we didn't like about this B&B.

Great location for visiting the Yorkshire Dales. Well kept and clean room with excellent views and bathroom amenities. Farm experience was great and it was nice to wake up to animal noises instead of traffic noise. Amazing breakfast with fresh eggs, croissants and honey. Maggie was very friendly and the best hostess and makes delicious shortbread! Lots of parking and no curfew at night so we were able to come back late after a wedding. We will definitely recommend to others and return!
Check-out was a bit early at 10am but Maggie did kindly extend it to 11am for us.

A cut above most B&B's. Everything was very good. The room, location and breakfast was excellent. Rural countryside location was a welcome change of pace.
This B&B could be the model for what a British B&B should be. Everything was very good.

Maggie gave such a warm welcome. She gave lots of local knowledge on the area, with ideas of things to do, places to go and local events. Breakfast was fabulous (local produce well prepared), around the farmhouse table, getting all guests chatting together. She also went out of her way to cater for gluten free which was much appreciated.
Location was very handy for walking in Studley Royal Deer Part / Fountains Abbey, visiting Ripon, Harrogate/Knaresborough etc etc

Maggie is a great host and I would recommend staying here if you are looking to visit this part of the country. We were greeted with a warm welcome and made to feel very welcome. The room was amazing and more importantly the breakfast was the best I have had.

A wonderful property in a beautiful location. We received the most special welcome from Maggie and everyone at Mallard Grange who were tireless in ensuring that we had a brilliant break. The breakfasts were a magnificent feast with a variety that would have kept us satisfied over a week’s stay but as we were there for only a couple of days we hardly did them justice! We are already planning our next visit (and the one after!).
It is clearly stated that the WiFi is quite slow - it is, but that will change as the service to the area is upgraded. But, hey, there’s always data as a fallback. The other dislike was having to leave!

The host is absolutely amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed the story telling at breakfast! What was different than most b&bs, all of the guests are introduced to each other and sit around one large table. It was quite enjoyable talking to others during mealtime.
