About this house rental
Greetings, Stay at Sunset Beach Cottage and taste the pervasive charm, the freshness of beautiful summer nights, hear the lapping salty ebb and flow of the tide, and wonder at the sky dusted with radiant stars.
July and August have longer stays on some dates - please refer to the calendar as we keep it updated. Please contact me if you want to book a shorter booking in July or August.
Thank you for your interest in a reservation at Sunset Beach Cottage on Whidbey Island. I’d like to introduce you to my beach side vacation rentals. I know you will be pleased with a stay here.
This is a wonderful time of year to be on the Island, and the beach with its spectacular views will be beckoning you outside from your doorstep. I love to walk out at low tide, looking for sand dollars and seashells, the solitude broken only by the cry of Blue Heron and our local eagles. Our low tides can go ¼ mile out and yet the sand is very firm for beach combing. There are rubber boots in the closet for guests to use, but you may wish to bring your own foul weather gear for your comfort.
The accommodations are in a beautifully remodeled two-bedroom guest cottage, with a master bedroom with a king-size bed, a couch that makes out into a queen bed, and a small bedroom with a twin bed with a trundle. If you or anyone you know will be visiting this season, please keep in mind this relaxed and comfortable “spare room” we have here.
For your comfort, there is digital smart TV and a full kitchen. Peruse through our small library and take a book home with you if you can’t put it down. Enjoy our house games and puzzles. The cottage sleeps up to 6 people.
Once you are settled in, the nightly sunset views of Admiralty Inlet, the Olympic Mountain Range, and the shipping lanes of Puget Sound from the living room/kitchen or the master bedroom, are nothing less than spectacular. You or your guests can spend time enjoying the natural beauty around you, walking, bird watching, biking, boating, and more. If you are so inclined, you can take advantage of the sophisticated and exciting artistic life of Whidbey Island. Langley, home of the renowned Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, the Clyde Movie Theater, and several regionally known restaurants, shops and galleries is a 10-minute drive away. Hike north or south from your doorstep. Enjoy South Whidbey’s many alluring hikes including giant Glacial erratic (Waterman Rock) in Saratoga Woods, South Whidbey Community Park Trails, The Whidbey Institute trails, South Whidbey State Park, and many more. * Pets have a $100 pet fee plus $40/night per pet if you are staying more than 2 nights or have more than one pet.
Extra guests, above the first two, are $40 per person, per night.
Many of our past guests reserve for a second and third time, so please be sure to book at your earliest convenience, especially for holiday weekends or school vacation times.

Amazing location, just right there at high tide, quiet area/neighborhood, inside had all we needed, two A+ off leash dog parks nearby, just sit back and stretch your eyes.

Had a great few days relaxing at this cottage. It had everything I needed. Large deck, very peaceful, awesome view!

This little gem was spotlessly clean and thoughtfully supplied with everything from lavender soap to locally produced hand lotion to bags to clean up after our dog. Owner answered our emails super fast and left us some wine and local jam. The views from the back of the house and the patio were to die for. Can’t wait to return.

This cottage was so cute and cozy. It is right in the water! The owner was very thoughtful and left homemade jam for us to try. The amenities were great, very clean! Highly recommend

We had a fantastic stay at this charming cozy cottage! It was perfect for our family of four, with every detail thoughtfully attended to. The beds were comfortable and everything was so clean. The check-in/out process was seamless and Paula was an excellent host. We loved spending evenings by the fire pit, roasting s'mores and watching the stunning sunsets. They were absolutely breathtaking! Highly recommend this delightful spot for a memorable getaway!

We only got to stay one night at the sunset cottage and man were we bummed to pack up!! What an incredibly peaceful and sweet little cottage on the water.
The wild life is right outside your door and there is a long beach to walk down and find all kinds of shells and rocks to enjoy. We were celebrating our anniversary and mentioned that this is a place we would love to stay in again sometime soon! I will definitely be referring our friends.

The most beautiful place we have ever stayed.

The name says it all! The space was as described, a small space perfect for our small family, close enough to run into town but very peaceful, feels private especially on the back patio. The outdoor space was the standout feature(s). We didn't see a cloud our whole trip, and the views were incredible - water, mountains, sunsets. Very relaxing. Beach. Fire pit. Great outdoor furniture.
Very easy in and out, property as described, had supplies we needed. Likely to return if/when we are in the market for a vrbo on Whidbey.

My sister and I needed a night away from the grind to get rest for our souls on the beach. This was the perfect place. The garden is glorious, we had a bit of fresh oregano on our pasta for dinner! It's really more beautiful than even the photos can show. I wish we could've spent more time here.

Very pleasant stay at the cottage. I was greeted with flowers, jam and wine 🍷. I had super low tides and could take long walks out on the firm sand. The patio and gardens are very private and the fire pit is a plus. You can hear the waves at night when the tide was high for a dreamy sleep. Just a few minutes to Langley and the ferry. On my way home I drove up to Ft Casey and down to the huge beach at Ebey’s Landing … long walk there then to Penn Cove for famous muscles lunch and then over Deception Pass, La Conner and finally South on I 5 home. Super day!!! Perfect weather too😎

The cottage was clean and very nicely decorated. It is located on the shore of Useless Bay, in a quiet and scenic section of Whidbey Island. It was an ideal place to spend ‘relaxation time’ with family.

Sunset Beach Cottage is fantastic! The host is caring and responsive and the cottage is so lovely! My son and I stayed for only one night but we relaxed and enjoyed the wonderful wine that was waiting for us on the kitchen table when we arrived!
Thank you Sunset Beach Cottage!

Staying at the seaside cabin was a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The cozy interior exuded charm, with comfortable furnishings and a well-equipped kitchenette. Waking up to the sound of waves crashing against the shore was truly rejuvenating. The cabin's proximity to the beach made it convenient for morning walks and sunset views. The host's attention to detail and hospitality added to the overall delightful experience. I highly recommend this seaside cabin for anyone seeking a tranquil getaway by the sea.

Our family of 4 and dog stayed at this cozy beachside cottage for just one night. It was even better than I expected it to be based on the photos. It’s an older, cozy cottage but all the necessary updates have been made. There is a gorgeous patio right on the beach with unobstructed views. Even on a rainy weekend, this was a great spot to relax and wildlife watch. Obviously lots of time is put into the garden and I look forward to coming back someday during its peak season. I would definitely recommend a stay here! Thanks to the host!

We stayed for one night in early February.
So peaceful the moment you walk in. Every amenity makes you sink in to calm. Incredibly comfortable bed and lovely deep tub. Thoughtful touches everywhere and excellent communication with host. Patron’s Mexican for dinner and Baily’s Corner for great breakfast sandwiches and coffee, both 10 minutes away. Don’t hesitate to book!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is detailed for every need you might have and kept well organized and very clean. Check in and check out was easy and clear. The view is gorgeous and the beach patio is inviting and beautiful.

I really enjoyed my stay despite being outwitted on how to turn on the shower. Apparently you have to pull the handle towards yourself before turning to adjust the temperature. I'm not the sharpest in the morning. Otherwise I had everything I needed for a quick but relaxing stay and was treated to a beautiful Winter sunset and enjoying watching some herons.

We welcomed the new year in the perfect cozy setting with an amazing last sunset and morning cold plunge! Perfect way to say goodbye to 2023 and start the new year!

My wife and I stayed here, and the space is as wonderful as it looks. An inviting and cozy home on the Sound with views that are great even with cloud cover, and truly stunning (with my favorite mountain range as a backdrop) on sunny days.
Paula was a fantastic host. We both loved it, and it will likely be the first place I check when we want to get away in the future. (Thank you, Paula!)

Our sunset cottage get away from city life was perfect. Its a cozy space with a beautiful view of useless bay and the olympic range. A lovely, quiet setting for our pre-holiday retreat. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was completely adequate, and the living area very accomodating for two people. The patio is lovely as well and we tried an outdoor fire the first night. Thank you so much.

I’ve been here several times and have a deep appreciation for the place and the space (the setting & the house). It’s homey in the sense that when you’re there it feels like it’s yours. Charming 1950s style beach cabin, thoughtfully cared & maintained. Experienced, accommodating and kind host.
The view is unreal. Watching a sunset here is a soulful experience. Beautiful setting; even though there are neighbors, it feels private.
A few other fabulous features: west-facing views, great accessibility w/ single-level layout, right on the water, huge patio & nice grassy side yard, local art, sparkling clean, big bathtub, comfy king bed w nice sheets, friendly neighbors, dog friendly, colorful gardens.
Overall, a 10 out of 10! Perfect place to relax, disconnect and recharge.

This place was the perfect spot for my annual birthday retreat/escape. I discovered lot of wonderful new trails in the area (thank you All Trails app!) and had the waterfront cottage to return to afterwards for a relaxing evening. All in all it was a wonderful trip!

This place was wonderful! My friend requested a West /sunset view and 2 Bedrooms. This fit the bill perfectly and was comfy and beautiful and peaceful. Gorgeous sunset and a late nip beyond refreshing dip in the sound! I would like to live there!!!

I wanted a place to get away for a few days and the Sunset Cottage turned out to be more than I'd hoped for or imagined!
It was immaculately clean, well appointed, calm, peaceful and just steps from the water, and all the details to make it cozy and comfortable were truly appreciated.
I went on some beautiful walks/hikes with my dog that were easy to get to, and although I didn't venture to any of the towns on the Island, they weren't far away.
I'm so glad to have discovered this little piece of paradise and I can't wait to return!

Sunset Cottage is just delightful! It’s perched in a beautiful spot, right on the beach. As advertised, the sunset was incredible over the water looking at the Olympic mountains. They cottage is cozy and so thoughtfully appointed. They put out fresh flowers and some local wine and jam for us to enjoy. The fact that it’s dog friendly is a huge bonus. We will definitely be back. There’s so much outdoors beauty to enjoy on Whidbey and this is a great place to do it from.
