About this cottage rental
Set in the courtyard of our own home, but completely separate and private, Gadbury Cottage is cosy and very comfortable whether your choice is for a winter or summer break. It offers an ideal location to discover Oxford and the nearby attractions of Oxford City, Blenheim Palace, Shotover Park, Waterperry Gardens, Otmoor nature reserve, the Chilterns and Cotswolds Hills. Wheatley has all the facilities to meet your immediate needs - 2 foodstores, baker, coffee shop, post office, bank and choice of restaurants and pubs. The village has a long history through it's location on the main coaching route from London to Oxford - it was once descibed as the most agreeable stopping place between Beaconsfield and Woodstock. Today it's transport links are still excellent being just 2 miles from the Thornhills Park and Ride and a similar distance from the M40. There are regular bus services to Oxford and to Haddenham/Thame train station. Central London is c53 miles and Heathrow c45 miles, both have good public transport links.

So easy to get to Oxford without the hassle of staying there, very comprehensive checkin etc instructions.

We were here for a Craft Fair at Waterperry Gardens so the location was perfect for us.
The cottage was very cosy and comfortable and the hosts helpful and friendly.
We would definitely stay here again if we do the Fair next year!

The cottage was lovely. Very clean and comfortable.
Friendly hosts who took the time to make sure everything was ok.

The cottage was exactly as described and correspondence with the owner was easy. Thank you. We will certainly come and stay again.

This historic cottage was just what I was looking for: charming setting, clean home, friendly and responsive host, and easy access to restaurants and pubs nearby as well as public transportation. We toured the surrounding area (Oxford, Avebury, Cotswalds) and loved returning to our quiet little house at the end of the day. Wheatley was a great village. Thank you Jenny for being so accommodating and satisfying our specific needs!

Lovely barn, perfect location for Oxford and Bicester.
4.9
Loved this cosy old cottage with very good bus links to Oxford.
4.9
It had many aspects that made staying inside comfortable and it had everything I was looking for which was listed. I think the pricing for all the stuff we were given is pretty good too. The host was also great at timely communication to make sure my stay was comfortable.

The property is well presented and maintained. It is not large. I was staying alone but feel it would be cramped with 3 adults but fine for a couple or couple with child. The area is very nice with good local shops within walking distance. There is a very good bus service to Oxford - every 10 mins or so and this runs well into the evening so an evening in Oxford would be possible. The local Waterperry Gardens are also worth a visit.

Hosts were accommodating. Cottage was as advertised more than comfortable for my son and I. Kings Arms had fantastic food. Convenient services close to cottage. Bus line directly to City Center Oxford. Parking more than ample and much recommended.

A lovely cottage in a nice village location with an easy bus link into Oxford. The cottage was comfortable and homely. A perfect place for a peaceful getaway.

Cottage is well equipped and great location for Oxford.
Number 400 bus from the top of Friday lane takes you straight into centre. Highly recommend Jones Chinese in the village.
Owners very friendly and helpful.
4.9
Warm and cosy cottage, fabulous bus links into Oxford just few minutes walk from the front door. Village has everything you need for a short break.

We have stayed at Jenny and Martins Cottage several times. This time we stayed for 5 weeks and loved every minute of the stay.
The people of Wheatley have been very friendly and those at the Kings Arms Pub very welcoming.
Wheatley is on the outskirts of Oxford so there are a lot of interesting things to do as well as it is only an Hour and a half by bus to London.

We came for a second time, and had 2 brilliant autumn weeks, enjoying the comfort and atmosphere of the well-equipped cottage.
4.9
The property was located in a nice area of the village which had more facilities than we expected, those relevant to us being a short walk away. The house was well presented and we had everything we needed. Unfortunately the weather restricted our use of the garden but overall we did not miss anything.
Our main aim was visiting Oxford and we found the nearby park and ride to be both handy and efficient. Beyond that there were some good National Trust and other places to visit in the vicinity.

Was working in chinnor and found Jenny’s cottage, Wheatley you have a great bakers just down the road from the cottage and Asda but further if you need a supermarket, the cottage was just perfect , everything you need for cooking or relaxing a great outdoor seating area and felt so private and quiet

Over all we enjoyed our one week stay in Gadbury Cottage. Everything important is provided, although two new pans in the kitchen and a new matress for the bed in the ground floor bedroom would be nice. Using the toilet can be a little bit tricky, if you are not a slim person.
Nevertheless worth a recommendation! Mrs. Steele ist very friendly!

My mother and I look at our week in Wheatley as one of the highlights of our trip. Jenny's house was beautiful and she was gracious and welcoming. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed for our visit. Catching the bus was easy and we traveled all over Oxfordshire during the week. It was a WONDERFUL stay!

easy access to village, property clean and tidy, nice little garden area, would have used if not for rain

Adorable English cottage - plenty of space for our family of 3. Very convenient to the bus and able to easily get where we wanted. Felt very safe - hosts gave us all the privacy we wanted -

Another lovely stay at Gadbury Cottage, the cottage has become our home from home when visiting relatives locally. We are looking forward to returning again in a couple of weeks time.

This was our second stay at this location and we loved it! The location is fantastic for going for little day trips to Oxford, Thame and other nearby towns. We came in on The Chunnel, so we didn’t have our car, but used the bus, to get everywhere. The bus stop is a short walk from the property. We visited the local bakery, stores, and restaurants. Would definitely stay again!
4.9
Very nice cottage in the country. Exactly what we needed. Description was perfect for what we received. Only addition needed was maybe another mirror to help get ready in the morning. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed with Jenny Steel and her husband Martin for a week. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and took possession of the small but cozy cottage.
The location near Oxford is excellent and the daily bus connections to the famous city with its centuries-old university and architecture are exceptionally convenient.
In the garden of the cottage you can comfortably have breakfast or dinner. The place Wheatley is not exactly small, but very quiet. There are plenty of transport connections for passionate drivers. The car can be parked in the yard.
We felt very comfortable during the week and can definitely recommend the accommodation. A refrigerator and a small kitchen are more than enough if you don't want to celebrate a three-course meal every day. If the opportunity arises, we would love to come back.
4.9
Jenny was away when we arrived so we didn't meet her until the last day of our stay. We struggled a little with the weather and the shower while we were there with the weather being not quite as warm as expected. I needed to read the shower instruction booklet to master the temperature controls on the shower but everything came right in the end. Jenny's instructions for getting to the cottage were brilliant as they gave the best outcomes for negotiating some tight corners in the village.
Oxford and the Cotswold villages were great to visit but we couldn't get over the number of people that we encountered everywhere.
We went as far afield as Great Dixter but the local Waterperry Gardens proved to be easily a better investment in time and effort.
We would stay there again but hopefully would do so at a warmer time of the year.
4.9
Immaculate cottage in pretty village outside Oxford.
Excellent bus service which gave easy access to busy Oxford and then back to the cottage which was very peaceful.Everything spot on with welcoming hosts.
4.9
Very quiet despite being in the village. Good quality fittings , lovely clean loo! Small kitchen area with limited work space but fine for a short visit if not planning to cook much.
4.9
A neatly converted and decently equipped old building with plenty of original features and quirks. We enjoyed our stay.
4.9
Sweet little converted building tucked away out of sight in a small village with supermarket, petrol station, convenience store, butcher and baker. Sited conveniently near the A40 and M40 for access to Oxford, Birmingham, and London. Charming accommodation with just enough period features to make it quirky.
4.9
Penny’s home is perfect. Quiet, simple, peaceful with all you need. Communication was incredible! Close to the bus stop into Oxford and as a home base for visiting Cotswolds and Bath/ Wells. We had a wonderful experience and hope to be back sometime!

The cottage was just as advertised. It was charming, clean and well equipped. It was easy to catch a bus to Oxford. Lovely little garden - for warmer weather!
