We had a great welcome on arrival at the hotel. The room was lovely and snug, before sleep time. The hotel staff were generally very pleasant and helpful.
No air conditioning in our room as the system was turned off in the cooler months. However, nothing was mentioned to us at the check in time.
Room was very very warm ,when we went to sleep. Due to no air conditioning, we opening the window. This was a huge mistake as our room soon filled with many mosquito's. Overall, it was really difficult to sleep due to the warm temperature and the added hazard of mosquitos continually flying by our heads. My wife sustained many bits which soon became really itchy. The hotel provided a fan which helped, but they should have mentioned the mosquito issue for the rooms that faced the rear of the hotel.
Bottomline, you expect more when you pay 100 Euros at night. Would would not stay here again.

This hotel is undergoing a renovation and extension so seeing building works on arrival was a surprise. The upgrades that have been completed are excellent and I was very happy with my room. The staff were excellent - very helpful and attentive. Breakfast was very good, as was the dinner I ate there. The location of the hotel is very good as is the public transport network. The company running the trams and buses is Twisto but it wouldn't accept either of my cards to purchase tickets at the machines. They have an app to download for purchasing tickets in advance, then just validate on the tram or bus.
I didn't know the restaurant would be closed the evening before the bank holiday (1 May) but the staff kindly provided me with a room service meal. It would have been worth me checking for any closures in advance!

The location was on the right side of hospital for the ferry from Ouistreham to Portsmouth (and inside the Caen Univeristy hospital campus), but nowhere near the centre of Caen. So for us, on our way home to UK, it was in a good location.
Clean spacious quiet room on ground floor.
The restaurant was not open on the Monday night that we stayed here so we had to drive 5 mins by car to a Buffalo Grill for food.
There was a a smell of drains in the room overnight - we notified the manager.

Beakfast was OK .... Overall aspect of common area are also OK. Easy Parking.
Dinner was included in the price negotiated .... the restaurant was closed ! (close on WE) bur I got a refund and add to find an other place to eat ... Closest is Buffalo Grill .... not top !
Cleanliness of room: a bras from previous visitor was still in the room, carpeting have a lot of stains, room are not attractive:no decoration ... very cold. is it really a four Stars ?

Very noisy room. AC DID NOT WORK. Very noisy ad we had to leave window open and huge amount of noise from trains and collection of dirty linen from 0530 am for an hour and a half, staff helpful and the female manager refunded 50% of room cost.
Staff lovely. Stayed two nights, 2nd night peaceful. Central location. Breakfast basic.
Noisy room and breakfast. Would advise to go out for breakfast.

Excellent stopover hotel for cross channel users. Very good 4 star comfort, secure parking in quiet area, quality breakfast which included a thoughtful home made chocolate cake, restaurant opened at 6.30am, super convenient for us with an 8 hour drive ahead. Super pleasant and helpful overnight receptionist.

Location good close to Ferry
Did not want to feed our group in the restaurant. Eventually they did if we all set at separate tables.

We chose Caen for an overnight stop after ferry crossing to Cherbourg. Hotel Mercure Cote De Nacre was excellent. All staff were polite and efficient with special mention to Receptionist who spoke perfect English. Room was very comfortable and we chose a Privilege room which was well worth the extra price. Secure car park which was important to us.
Nothing.
