Rooms were well designed with excellent shower and comfortable bed
We didn’t receive a warm welcome from reception and they couldn’t even find of the city. Our luggage was stored in main lounge with no security at all and no tags to identify our luggage so anyone walking into the hotel could pick it up

Location
Poor access to car park
Very steep steps into entrance for those with walking difficulties .
No lift if room above 2 nd floor or in newer section.
Room lighting - main ceiling light and bedside lights connected . So unable to rest and read in bed comfortably. All lights or no lights which is difficult if room companion wants to read or during the night if needing to switch light on.
Breakfast - good selection but cooked food lukewarm . Coffee and tea has to made independently which is not expected in a four star hotel. Chipped crockery.
Pillows poor quality.

Location is excellent for exploring Oxford. On a quiet side street off the high street. Reception staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. Room and bathroom great. Was able to get a parking space at the hotel. This is an extra £30. It’s a small car park so have to leave keys with the hotel so they can move cars to let guests in and out. We were happy with this - warning just in case you are precious about your car. Would definitely recommend.

Good location and quaint hotel.
hotel was expensive for the size of the room, but I think this is more supply and demand for Oxford.

Property is very tired, rooms did not feel very clean, fractures and fitting tatty. The room had a fig of old tobaccco as did much of the hotel. Staff where disinterested and poorly trained.

The location was very central so perfect for us to get everywhere. We were upgraded in our rooms which was a lovely surprise. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

On arrival when checking in we were shown to our room which wasnt in the main hotel it was outside accross the car park in a seperate building would not have booked if we had known this but hey ho, Upon entering the room it was clear that the cleanliness was not up to 4 star standard the bedside tables made from books were very dusty & all around the bed very poorly cleaned, the shower leaked onto the floor when showering & large brown water stains in & around shower.
slept very well but next morning at breakfast the fried breakfast was all cold even though a hotplate was used & the coffee was brewed to extinction & luke warm as well, all in all not a pleasant experience for a quality 4 star hotel, you left 2 people very dissapointed. would think twice next time.

The room in the "new section" was very good, well appointed and nice and warm.
We should have been advised that the room allocated to us was "across the other side of the car park". Had it been raining this would have been inconvenient when checking in or when going back to reception. Also anyone with mobility problems would have struggled to navigate the steps down to the car park
We were told that the bar stayed open until 11.00pm, but everything closed down at around 9.45 and we could not find anyone to ask.

Great location
Rooms didn't smell clean and we're small and dark. Not like the photos. This hotel is definitely not worth the money.

Location was perfect for exploring the beautiful city. Staff were courteous and very helpful. I asked for a quiet room and that was what I got. I will definitely return.
No heated towel rail in the bathroom to dry towels.

Lovely hotel and good decoration but I think it’s VERY overpriced for what it is. We only stayed there as a last resort and to be close to the Magdalen ball. For that price breakfast should definitely be included.

Old style attractive property. Brilliant location.
Needs modernising in places. The rooms/carpet is a little dated. I thought it was expensive for what it was but the building is really lovely.

The restaurant was lovely
We paid a very high nightly rate for a premium room with a view and were put on the top floor claiming to be the “premium rooms” which are the exact opposite of what they are- it was old, smelly, tiny windows, low ceiling, awful bed, terribly furnished. We went back to reception and I over heard the front office lady checking another couple into the “new annex” building for a fraction of what we had paid/ when i went up and complained about our room, they said they were fully booked and nothing they could do. I didn’t budge and they finally found us a room in the new annex building which is a lot nicer than the original building where you check in. Overall, it was very disappointing and ruined our stay.

Location
Bathroom had not been cleaned specifically the toilet had not been flushed/toilet seat was filthy
which created a bad odour in the room.

The location was fantastic, the check-in was easy and the staff seemed nice.
The bed (especially the mattress) was very uncomfortable. It was lumpy and hard. Also, the room was very small, but this is to be expected from such an old building.

Extremely clean and quiet. And super comfy bed
The lack of help lugging a suitcase up 3 flights of stairs, and being told that I had had breakfast and was being charged for it (when I hadn’t)

The location was perfect for me and a lovely hotel.
The awful creaking groaning noise coming from the vent in my room, I had to put tissue paper in my ears to try and block it out.
