Location and staff were excellent.
Number 11 was a miserable dark room with virtually no light. The view out of both windows were ghastly. It was very dingy and just generally hugely disappointing

Location was awesome. The staff was excellent.
The room was just a touch small, but you’re in Oxford and you’re not in your room much at all.

I did not take breakfast. On past experience it is very poor value for money.
Location good and bed comfortable.
Strange arrangement of shower and bathroom in the room I had. Difficult to heat the room..
3.0
Location
The fact that there was no power for the last two days of my stay.

Really charming place with helpful staff and wonderful location. I appreciated the coffee and water bottles in the room.
They didnt have a baby blanket for the cot. The room I stayed in really needs a paint job, one of the walls in the “sitting room” was looking very bad. there was mold in the ceiling of the shower.

Very central

Breakfast was a hamper delivered to our room. Plenty to choose from and was convenient as we just got married, so we could properly enjoy our room and time together.
The room was huge, bed was comfy, and the bathroom was also amazing. Location couldn't have really been more central yet quiet and away from the tourist crowds.
Staff were also incredibly helpful (thank you Hugo & Jasmine) and went above and beyond to help us with arrangements surrounding our wedding and beyond.
Definitely on the more spenny side but worth it for the service, room and convenience. We are glad we lashed out for out special weekend.

Elegant room. Comfortable bed. Central, but quiet location.
Breakfast choices were limited, breakfast was expensive, added to already premium room price.

This was an older hotel that had been refurbished. The ensuite was modern but the bedroom section was dark and poorly lit. It did have new paint and carpet.
Breakfast was not cooked and and was simply stuff purchased from the grocery store in packets. As I said, the room was poorly lit and dark. It also did not have adequate mirrors. it has no lift. Staff was young and not very helpful with the exception of the one young lady in the morning of April 25, who was of great assistance. One of our party was abruptly told they didn't make restaurant reservations by another staff member.

Location was good
Breakfast was not so good. The room was super hot (in may) and windows couldn't be opened.

Location was good, right in a city center
Room was very small and poorly equipped. All the amenities in the room are on their last leg. Hairdryer not working, espresso machine leaking all over the table after one coffee. Bed pillows and duvet were of the cheapest quality and not comfortable to sleep on.
Our room was on a 2nd floor. The wall near the bed was shared with the building next door. They had a full on club party till 3 am in the morning. It was so loud we could hear the full song with lyrics. Absolutely impossible to sleep.
When we spoke to the staff downstairs, they had no clue what was going and couldn’t either complain to the neighbors or offer us another room, as they were fully booked.
For GBP312 a night it was an absolute nightmare staying there. No comfort and no sleep.

The hotel was lovely, staff extremely thoughtful and accommodating. Rooms very clean and beds very comfortable. It was my birthday and they provided some complimentary prosecco and chocolates and made it a really lovely stay. Will definitely visit again.

great location and staff

The outside appearance is attractive to architects and historians, as is the name Vanbrugh. Much of original panelling has been retained, at least in the bedroom we had,
Continental breakfast only, and not included in price. No restaurant, but we should have noticed this when booking. We were asked for payment on booking in, which is something we had never experienced before.

The location was perfect
Uncomfortable pillows. There was a miscommunication about the breakfast being included.

Comfortable bed / clean bathroom
It was not evident when I booked this hotel that there was no restaurant. As a lone business traveller this is essential and I wouldn't have booked had I realised this . Breakfast was appalling and misrepresented- granola with fruit and yoghurt was a shop bought package with no fruit. Bread with 3 cheeses was 3 small plastic cheeses in plastic wrapping - appalling
