All was good.

Fabulous B&B. The owners are a lovely family. They were kind, friendly (but unobtrusive), helpful, down to earth, and went out of their way to help me out when it was needed. Breakfast was perfect too! I highly recommend this excellent accomodation, located centrally in a great town to stop at on Dartmoor.
There was nothing I didnt like! It was fabulous!

Caroline and Richard are the most welcoming people just what I needed after a long drive.
It looks like the hotel has a lot of history and it's being well looked after.
Some great framed pictures on the walls
My room was very clean and the bathroom looked new.
At breakfast I was shown to the breakfast room where the fire had just been lit making the room nice and cosy a good choice on the menu which was excellent you won't go hungry and tasted amazing.
Also available is a pack lunch which I thought was great value for the money the home made cake was very nice.
I will be returning

It's conveniently located in the heart of the village of Princetown (and opposite to a big playground, for families). It's more than clean, it's immaculate ! It was refurbished a few years ago and it's a great refurbishment. We loved the Nespresso machine in the room and the huge bed. We received a very warm welcome from the owner. The breakfast was delicious with an impeccable service. The rear car park is convenient. We would definitely recommend it and go back there.

A perfect location for a work business trip. I was greeted by Caroline upon my arrival and met Richard the following day at breakfast. Both were warm and welcoming and responsive to requests. I had opted for a simple breakfast of cereal and toast for the morning, but it was made very clear to me that they would be happy to prepare something cooked should I have wished it. Property was quiet and clean. A welcoming property that I would happily stay in again, if down in Dartmoor.
I had no concerns throughout the stay, which was admittedly only for one night.

The owner was lovely and gave us a warm welcome. The breakfast was lovely and filling. The rooms were clean, comfy, and even had a pod machine! Very good value for money.

Owners were very helpful. We were staying with friends who were all going to a wedding nearby. The hosts allowed us to check in early and made sure a couple of rooms were ready so we had somewhere to leave our bags. They also provided a list of local taxi services we could contact.
Breakfast was great with a friendly service
Free parking was a bonus

Perfect little find . Host Richard and Caroline were extremely welcoming, place was spotlessly clean, nice fluffy towels, tea and coffee facilities in the room. Eco shower and body wash.
Breakfast was superb all locally sourced. Great location, with parking

The breakfast was excellent and the packed lunch was very convenient for my onward journey.
The only problem was my room was cold.

We had a very comfortable super-king bed and no traffic noise. The shower was good with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was better than expected with local eggs and organic yoghurt, and a lovely fire in the breakfast room. We met the owner at breakfast and she was very hospitable.
Princetown is right in the middle of the moor, so a great location for scenic walks. A good Visitor Information centre and cafes/pubs are nearby.
The B&B is on the main street, so not a scenic country location but the advantage is that if the weather turns you are close to the above services.
Definitely worth staying 2 nights or more to explore the numerous local walks.
We personally would have appreciated a better selection of teas in the room and proper biscuits. We have probably been spoilt by various farmhouse style B&Bs who give you home made cookies etc!
We were a bit chilly when we arrived, it was a damp evening and heating did not come on until around 6 pm (and only for an hour in the morning). However we totally understand that all of the above add to the cost of running an old property and in other ways it was comfortable.
Our original booking information said check-in needed to be between 4 and 6 pm, so we arranged our trip accordingly. However, on the day I got a text giving information for a key-safe. So that was a bit confusing! Would have been good to know earlier if there was a key-safe.

It was a wonderful experience, a 5-star welcome but in an informal and familiar context. Comfortable and spacious room, rich and varied breakfast, warm and relaxing environment. Within walking distance of the Dartrmoor Prison Museum and Visitor Centre (formerly Duchy Hotel) and in the heart of Dartmoor. Finally, Richard and Claire are wonderful hosts. Hope to return soon for new walks on the beautiful moor.

We had a great experience staying at the Duchy House Bed and Breakfast, its in a great location for exploring Dartmoor.
We wanted somewhere on the moor, where we could do some mountain biking, away from the crowds, and Princetown turned out to be a great central location, with an array of good cycle trails and bridleways in every direction.
Duchy House Bed and Breakfast is a real gem of a B&B. The house is simply beautiful, you could tell the proprietors put a lot of work in, keeping the place spotlessly clean, immaculately presented with classy décor, and set with interesting & informative fine detail. Our room was light and spacious, the bathroom was modern, with a great shower, our bed was clean and comfortable. Even with our window wide open at night, the place was quiet and peaceful.
Breakfast was flawless, our host was very attentive and simply could not have done more to make us feel welcome and provided everything you would expect. The full Dartmoor breakfast was beautifully cooked and kept us going for the whole day.
Generally, our hosts were very welcoming and, very happy to chat, and share common knowledge of the local area, with their own recommendations, which also turned out to be flawless.
Whether you are off road cycling, on road cycling or hiking or just exploring Dartmoor and want somewhere slightly remote, quiet, and away from the crowds, then I’d highly recommend Duchy House.

The owner Richard is a stand up guy. Messaged him in advance and rented the bikes off him for the day. Told me an excellent route to take.
Perfect family run place. Would highly recommend and I would stay there again if in area.

Right from the very beginning the owners of the B&B were attentive and helpful. On arrival the parking was safe and secure, the room was immaculate and stocked with tea/coffee/water. A nice touch to have espresso machine and not instant in the room.
I came to cycle Dartmoor and the owner of the B&B being a keen cyclist was very accommodating, the set up is very cycling friendly.
Even Vegan sausages for breakfast!! This place is first class.
Nothing. I’m serious, I’ve stayed in a lot of places traveling for work, cycling holidays, hiking trips, the hosts are great, the location is right at the epicentre of Dartmoor.
Ok, one thing…. The hills on Dartmoor are steep😂.

I loved the way Caroline carried our suitcases up the steep stairs without being asked.. She understood that we were tired
and my daughter and I were very impressed with this kind gesture..
Perfect hosts - available but not "in your face"
Perhaps a better quality bread for toast - it was a generic thin sliced bread - perhaps some croissants as well ?

The room was beautiful and modern, great location for walking, the moors were only a couple minutes walk away and you were in the national park. Richard and Caroline were both so lovely and breakfast was amazing. Would 100% stay again.
