great Service and food

Friendly staff, nice rooms and very good atmosphere. Good location for starting tours in the North of Zanzibar such as snorkeling and dolphins. Also breakfast is decent with good variety. Overall good value for money.
Dinner menu rather limited and drinks heavily overpriced.

Clean pool and long wide white sandy beach were perfect for us, traveling with our 8 year old.
Clean room, AC and confortable beds.
New/renovated property.
Friendly staff always available and helpfull.
Breakfast is a la carte, offering a limited array of products.
Restaurant is 50 to 100% more expensive compared to local restaurants in the village (Depending on what you order - I compared same products or similar)
Not related to the hotel, but a thing to consider for the avid open water swimmer: huge difference between low and high tide, so imposibble to swim at low tide (water goes out to see for about 1km). Full of sea urchins, so water shoes in your bag are a must.

the rooms were lovely and comfortable with an amazing view, staff at the restaurant and bar were friendly and helpful. go there if you want a quite experience. nice beach to experience the tides. we had a great reef walk by a local tour guide on the beach.
although the food was amazing. the food and drinks were quite expensive compared to other places. The hotel is beautiful but for families who like lots of water sport and activities, we preferred the northern beaches like kendwa. we had a few issues when paying. we had to leave early and couldn’t get a refund. we were double charged at the end, but the owners picked that up before we did and reversed the charges.

Good position and nice rooms. the staff was very helpful and supportive.
the costs for taxi or activities provided by the hotel are very expensive and this does’t make any sense.

Property is quite new and clean, comfortable boutique hotel.
Property is located in the part of the beach with nothing around to do or see, beach itself is very dirty from garbage and algae so it’s not possible to swim. There were heavy construction works going on throughout the day in the resort building itself (they told me it’s a/c) which made it impossible to rest in the afternoon. Water in the pool is quite dirty. Restaurant of the resort is ok but with limited options and quite overpriced especially taking into consideration the price of the hotel itself. The most unappealing part is the local people in from of the resort on the beach that are very pushy and keep walking after you at the beach and talking and offering things up to 10 times a day and don’t wanna take no for the answer.

Had everything you needed - bikes, kayaks, snorkel gear, massage, hair braiding. Room very clean. Dining area lovely, right on the beach and the beach is quiet and stunning. Food good, staff friendly and welcoming.

They had kayaks and bicycles for the guests to use free of charge, beautiful view of the ocean from the restaurant and a pleasant garden.
The constant noise from the staff in the middle of the night. The bed was a bit uncomfortable compared to the other two hotels we stayed at. The staff was not very attentive even thought there were only 12 out 40 guests staying hotel at the time.

The food was really nice and staff are very welcoming and very nice, loved my stay there and would recommend it to anyone. They have a few activities but also games if you get bored.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel overall. If you’re looking for a somewhere away from everyone and everything to just relax, this is the place for you. Be mindful it is about 1 hour - hour and half taxi ride from
Any other town or excursion. Taxi fairs were $35-$50 one way, so very expensive. The breakfast is free and it’s the same everyday, nothing special. The lunch and dinner menu change daily and was actually very delicious!!!! The rooms were kept very clean daily . There’s no ac but there’s a nice breeze. There aren’t many amenities , just the pool. So keep that in mind. Besides that it was a nice small relaxing hotel. Staff is very nice!
More amenities or activities on the resort. Less expensive to leave the resort.

The location and beach. The bar overlooking ocean. We had a bungalow right on the beach which was comfortable.
Room rate for what you got definitely on the high side, and restaurant prices too. But the food was delicious.

I loved everything, the staff, the setting right on the beach, the pool, the room. Everything was perfect.
This is not a criticism of the hotel at all, but just be warned that you cannot go for a quiet walk along the beach without being approached by people trying to sell you things at ridiculous prices. But take it with a sense of humour, they are just trying to make a living in these difficult times by being very persistent!

Matemwe is very quiet in a natural surroundings. The food was very very good in the restaurant with a beautiful view in front of the beach. In the morning during low tide it's worth it to take some shoes and walk with local people in the sea to see some starfishes (do not touch them or take them outside the water, it can kill them). The staff in the hotel and restaurant was kind, smiling and very helpful. We had a wonderful time.
Nothing to say.

Very clean and welcoming area. Pool nice. Bedroom with beach towels, shower gel & Champoo, tea and coffee, mini-fridge. Sweet towel decorations by the cleannig staff.
Good breakfast. Free bicycles and kayak.
Would be nice to have music at the bar and pool.
On our bedroom there some kind of insect eating the bed wood that make noice during the night (but nothing especial)
