Staff help
Hotel recommended by a friend, considering the price and her recommendation thought it would be grander, bas. It was a very pleasant commercial hotel
4.3
I liked the location, I liked the desk. Staff were wonderful.
The shower I did not like the shower and it was dangerous. There is no need for any hotel charging what they charge to have a shower that is impossible to get into and also impossible to operate the tiny button that controlled the water was extremely hard to push. When I asked for help with it, the woman who was at least 40 years younger than I was not able to push it in either.

Location of the hotel excellent. The bed was very comfortable, the room was spacious and elegant with a view over the pretty square and the staff were very friendly and efficient.
4.3
Front desk staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Location was excellent. Breakfast staff mostly very pleasant, and the selection of food was excellent. Room's Art Deco decor was nice and bathroom was spacious and well designed.
no nice view and size of bedroom a bit small for price, and the TV was programmed in Spanish, which staff was unable to switch to English. Man at breakfast "welcome counter" very curt, and seemed resentful that we had appeared (within scheduled time).

Great location
Only one person at the front desk who was constantly busy. Always a line waiting to check in or check out. They wouldn’t answer the phone when you called. Had to go out on the street to find a taxi because I couldn’t talk to anyone.

Fantastic location, very helpful staff and great breakfast selection
Rooms were small, noisy from nearby bars and too hot. Some basic toiletries were missing but staff kindly brought to the room

just a very elegant place
the first two nights the room I had was next to a bar that played loud music for the amount of money I paid each night and the noice and la k of sleep was not worth it
then the staff said they are aware of the noise and that I should have said something - also the breakfast was delicious but I had a coupon for 20% for each day and they only gave it for one. in the end they put it on me - not very kind

Super friendly and helpful staff
Restaurant not open for two out of four nights we were there . However as there were many restaurants open around town that was not a problem.

Nice traditional hotel right in the middle of town. The hotel overlooks a square park area. Our room was very comfortable with a nice bed and bathroom. The rooms overlooked the terrace of bars on the adjacent street - I can imagine this may be noisy during warmer weather but was unused whilst we were there. We didn't drink or eat at the hotel, preferring to try out some of the local bars and restaurants.
The staff at the hotel were excellent and informative and helped us arrange a Jeep safari to see the Northern Lights.
There is no parking at the hotel. There is street parking on the roads around the hotel but this can be busy - it looks us around 15 minutes to find a space on a Sunday morning. You also need to be careful of the parking regulations. We parked in a parking area but facing the wrong way down the street and got a fine on our first night !

Property is in a good location around the corner from central city bus stop #3 (easy walking distance). Front desk staff were very helpful in answering questions about where to eat, booking sightseeing tours, arranging for airport transportation, etc. Breakfast was not included in my rate (excellent buffet breakfast was 4,100 ISK/day). There are several restaurants, bars and shopping within easy walking distance. There is a 24-hour convenience market within a block of the hotel and a famous street hot dog stand is two blocks away. Short walk to the infamous Phallological Museum and simple to catch a city bus to visit Fly Over Iceland and/or the whale tour. My room was on the smaller side, as I was traveling solo, but nicely furnished, quiet and comfortable.
I can't think of anything I'd improve upon for this property.

Loved the location and the facilities. Comfortable, big bed. Good coffee machine (Nespresso), and nice size fridge. The front desk offered top services. Nice to have the small Spa area available.
To be a superior room I found it quite small, and part of the layout was not good, bathroom door - work station -closet doors - fridge, in the same, small corner, caused some frustration. Further I don not like the combined bathtub-shower. And one of the days there were several long dark hairs in the bathtub (I am a blonde).

Beautiful hotel, really central. Staff were super lovely and helpful. Room was beautiful and spacious. We were there for my husband's birthday (Reykjavik has been on his wish list to travel for a long time!) and the hotel surprised us with bubbles and chocolates which really exceeded my expectations and got the holiday off to a good start - thank you!!
Jacuzzi unfortunately wasn't working/on while we were there. Didn't really impact the trip just would have been a nice thing to be able to do.

Central location, excellent hotel & room facilities. The food was great especially as I have dietary, allergy restrictions.
Wonderful, helpful staff, especially as a solo traveler with tour recommendations since my tiurs were cancelled due to weather.

We expect a pool and hot tub to be available in the morning and/or evening. Their hours are from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, which doesn’t allow for either. Guests, especially in this city, will generally be out enjoying activities and meals and want to come back to the hotel in the evening to use the spa area. Of all the hotels we stayed in, this was the only one with a pool or hot tub that wasn’t available at night. In Iceland it’s common to swim/soak after a long day. Those facilities were a main reason we’d chosen this property.
