After a walk up pen y fan in the wind and rain it was a nice place to come back to relax for the night then home early the next morning.

Superb location, in a really peaceful chunk of what appeared to be ancient woods. Room was delightful, especially the sunken bathroom set in a coal store. Bed was incredibly comfortable. Jon was very kind and an excellent host. Also good fun!
Nothing really.
4.1
quirky, welcoming, close to town and outdoor activities
no facilities to purchase food or drink
pillows uncomfortable

The location is superb and the design of the property feels like you are stepping into a woodland wonderland. For that reason we would come back.
We were quite chilly in our room, and after a cold day outside wasn't expecting to go to bed in my fleece and hat. Additional heaters were offered, which we used, but it was still quite chilly. The design is fun and lovely, but the water was either freezing or super hot. Now we've been we would happily go again as it is a lovely atmosphere. Without seeing it before our expectation for the price was a little different.

The location was perfect! In the middle of a forest but restaurants and destination walks no further than a 15 minute drive. Could also walk around the property. Breakfast was lovely, bread delicious. Boiled eggs, cereal and yogurt. Room was cosy and host was lovely (Jon was helpful and chatty) and he also gave us some great suggestions. Recommend the local Indian as food was great, Cinnamons.
WiFi signal was not great in Garden room.

Perfect location, unique cosy lodge, friendly staff, complimentary breakfast was lovely
Could be better signposted at entrance

loved the quaint comfortable room and peace and quiet
it would have been ideal if there was somewhere to eat on site but it didn’t spoil my enjoyment, plus the hosts gave me options for eating and were very flexible

My partner and I absolutely loved the room - we stayed in the 'Coal Cellar', which has a ground level room, but a below-ground bathroom. The whole place has an eco vibe with a luxury feel; lots of greenery and bare wood, subtle lighting, and it is set in stunning woodland. We received a really warm welcome from Jon, and immediately made ourselves a cuppa from the hospitality tray. The room was nice and quiet, the bed linen was of really good quality, and the bathroom was like entering a steampunk forest grotto (with the benefit of underfloor heating). The online photos are a really good representation of this lovely hideaway. There is free onsite parking right outside the accommodation.
The room could possibly get chilly as the weather gets cooler. The timed exterior lighting was not working on approach (possibly due to the clocks recently having gone back), and Jon advised this would be rectified so visitors are not feeling their way in the dark. The hot tap on our sink wasn't working (scheduled for repair), but we didn't mind as we had the gorgeous rainfall shower to take advantage of! The parking area was a bit muddy due to heavy rainfall, but again, this is to be expected from a rural setting, and we had packed boots accordingly.

Good location as in the middle of what we wanted to do. Light breakfast was included which was nice. Jon the manager was very friendly and tried to sort the bed situation out as best as he could. The place is hard to find as no signposts but Jon provided helpful google locations.
Booked for a double and single bed but only double bed was in the room (booking.com have since updated this to say double only, would have not booked if we knew that was the case). Lots of cobwebs in the bedroom. Bathroom/bedroom had no door therefore no privacy, due to a location of a mirror you could then see in the bathroom whilst someone was in the bedroom and visa versa. When using the shower the whole floor got wet, the bathroom and bedroom smelt damp and towels didn't feel dry, there were several Beetles in the bathroom. The hot tap on the sink didn't work. The pictures on the site made it look like there would be food options, this wasn't the case. No Netflix as mentioned. Would probably only recommend staying for a night just as something different.

Rooms and breakfast were great, unique design and secure.
On the booking.com website, one room was supposed to have a double and single bed, which the room did not have. I ended up having to sleep on a camp bed which was disappointing given the price of the room.

Partner loved the rustic look, the garden was a wood with lots of little paths and exploration areas. Large central firepit. Very quiet and dark. Very helpful manager
Room was fine but toilet and shower/bath area has no door. Wasn't happy with that. Bed was mattress on pallets, seemed a little short as our feet stuck out the bottom of bed

it was unique and cozy
it was cold and the hot water stopped working

It was very quirky. Great use of recycled piping and pallets..
Nice friendly welcome. Clean, comfortable room and bathroom.
We weren't sure whether breakfast was included or not, it seemed a bit vague. We did ask and we were advised we could be offered a light breakfast, so we still weren't sure whether this was standard . We were given milk for our room, but as it was so warm, the milk was off by the evening.
A mirror near a plug socket would be useful. The only mirror is above the sink.

Very unique and quaint, you definitely don’t need to be a camper to enjoy. The garden is beautiful, we were lucky enough to be the only guests on a Sunday evening and it was so peaceful which is exactly what we were looking for, the best nights sleep I’ve had in a long time.
There was a slight damp wooden smell in the room however, I understand it is for camping. maybe some in-scents!

Nice host
Location
Decorated room

The bathroom
The bed was two separate single bed put together so one of us was always stuck In the middle between the beds. The room was full of cobwebs and spiders, the room was very cold and loud as it was littery next door to reception with paper thin walls, description and pictures was not what I expected to the actual place it's self. With nothing to do other than walk

Cool design, clean and very comfy bed
Nothing

Breakfast was a bit of surprise. Thought we had just booked room.
This was miss advertised.
No communal area to sit except garden.
Totally unsuitable if you had any mobility issues or light related claustrophobia.
Note that ensuite means there is no door between the toilet and bedroom just a doorway and the mirror is placed to give anyone in the bed a view of loo user!
No real external view from room, just the hedge beyond the path used by all dome guests.
All greenery in room is plastic yet this claims to be an Eco lodge.
Not so much in the forest as behind the cemetery.
Pallet bed comfy but two single mattresses short if you are 6ft or over.
On site staff lovely but not in receipt of any messages via Booking.com as they go to "the owner" very unfair on staff.

A secret hideaway in the forest - it was lovely. Manager Jon was amazingly helpful. Complimentary breakfast was great.
No signs at the top track - so defo use what 3 words to find the place!

Quirky rooms with like forest feel and comfortable bed, lovely shower.
Beautiful scenery out the back.
Restaurant or bar not open. No glasses in rooms. Very very basic breakfast.
Alot of photos shared on rooms and area wasn't actually there.

Such a beautiful place. Location was great for all the activities in the Forest of Dean.
The shower temperature was a little awkward.
4.1
The bath and shower
There was no hot water to use in the sink as the tap was broken, Spider webs everywhere, could do with a small fridge, luckily we have a 4x4 as the road leading into the lodge rooms weren't great ... they need to fill in huge pot holes. Bed could do with a double mattress as the 2 single mattress kept seperating during our sleep.
4.1
Beautiful unique little place to stay. Well priced and the most kind owners. Relaxed and just beautiful
4.1
This place is a little gem staff great and one of the most comfortable beds iv ever slept in fully recommended
4.1
The beds where very comfortable even though they where 2 single mattresses pushed together
Bathroom was lovely and room was very spacious
No signs of main road drove past twice before finding the very poorly maintained drive. And no signage showing you where the entrance to the building is either had to phone to find out.
No bar or restaurant open as shown on booking.com and finally looks of cobwebs in the room.

The bed was so comfy had the best night sleep. The bath was amazing. Very quiet, Jon who was there was very welcoming and friendly. Thank you for everything, we will definitely be staying here again.
