About this apartment rental
This downtown efficiency apartment is across the street from the Taos Plaza. It is on the "Garden Street" of Taos on a little one block street with shops, restaurants and four of my Vacation Rental apartments.
Free parking in lot across the street. Meters but town is not ticketing.
The kitchen area includes a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, coffee maker and toaster as well as dishes and glassware for two. Be sure and check out "Melissa's Picks" posted on frig for shops, museums and restaurants downtown.
The Reading Nook has a comfortable chair, reading light and a variety of Vacation Books.
The dining area is an antique table with two chairs complete with placemats and cloth napkins.
Opaque blinds offer privacy yet allow our wonderful Taos light to come in.
The main room has a ceiling fan, operable transom window and a dutch door for summer use. In winter months there is a gas log stove and even a heated electric mattress pad. Please operate gas log stove ONLY with wall thermostat. NEVER turn off main gas line.
The hallway has hooks for hanging clothing and there is a dresser at the foot of the bed.
I love the bathroom! It has a new tiled shower with my concept of random tiles and is bright and colorful. I provide Robes, thick towels, soaps, shampoo, hair dryer and other miscellaneous bath supplies. There is a ceiling fan for ventilation and a small space heater.
This apartment as well as all the buildings on the street was built in the 1880's so thick walls keep it cool in summer and easy to keep warm in the winter. 14" thick walls will do that. Also it ensures quiet even though right downtown. The beauty of adobe construction.
I operated this space as a small retail shop until I realized my true passion was Vacation Rentals. I love to remodel, furnish and decorate for my many guests.
I now have 11 Taos Rentals. Everything from this efficiency to one bedroom apartments and houses as well as two and three bedroom homes. All are listed on VRBO.
When I closed my shop I still had an inventory of merchandise. Everything in this apartment on walls and shelves is for sale to guests (almost everything...) Truly "Passive Retail" and you can go home with a Taos memory.
As with all of my rentals I am dog friendly and provide dog sheets. I charge $10 per night per dog which you may leave upon departure.
I provide wireless high speed internet with the user name and password posted by the dining table.
All of this at a great location, reasonable rates, amenities galore and shopping in your own private space! Come visit and enjoy Casita Pequena for a short stay.

Adorable, spacious, art on the walls for sale. Host was prompt, friendly, and incredibly accommodating. I was traveling for an art event and stayed a couple extra days for fun. Efficiency is within walking distance of galleries, stores, restaurants, and a food store. This place is a gem.

The place was darling. The air conditioner kept it very comfortable. The only issue with it had nothing to do with the place or the owner. The main street is torn up and the detour goes right past the place. During the week there wasn’t very much traffic noise, but Friday and Saturday nights was a little noisy. I’m sure when construction is over it will be nice and peaceful all week long.

Very small, quaint. Bed is only so,so.

We liked the location and was within walking distance to shopping and dining. It was older adobe structure which we liked. What we didn’t like was marginally safe electric outlets and main door locks. The outlets were poorly maintained and hung loose. The door locks need to be updated and strengthened. Another item that needs to be addressed is that the property was advertised as an efficiency there was no sink in the “kitchen” area. We had to haul water from the bathroom to wash dishes and waste water carried back to the bathroom. With a few noted exceptions our stay was nice and comfortable.

Perfect Location! Walk to restaurants, bars and shopping. Cute, quaint town where everyone is very friendly.

Loved the place overall. Was a little sad that it has kitchen advertised but all there was in that aspect was a tiny plug in toaster oven. Everything else was fantastic.

We loved the casita. It has a ton of character. It’s clean with a comfortable bed. One block from the main square. Next door to a cocktail bar and a restaurant. Only 30 min to the ski resort.

Loved this quaint efficiency casita just off the plaza in Taos. A wonderful place to stay for strolling around the heart of Taos.

Funky and small, as advertised. Close to everything and a decent price for the location. There was a fair bit of dust in the corners and on some of the things displayed for sale. A bit odd that the only sink for the “kitchenette” is in the bathroom, and is small for washing dishes. Old and creaky floors, and the front door doesn’t close very securely. But overall a good choice if you want to be close to the old town centre and are on a budget.

Casita Pequeña was so cozy, cute, clean and quaint! The location is excellent, only a few doors away from an outstanding restaurant and fine boutiques and shops. Melissa has items on display for sale within the Casita and I had a blast shopping. We will definitely go back, Melissa is a great host and so easy to communicate with. 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 for Melissa and Casita Pequeña.

informed owner of a storm that would not allow me to drive to Taos on the scheduled day and asked if we could shift my dates which she emailed that she had done - then she kicked me out on the day that I was supposed to stay and refused to refund money. I paid for 3 nights and only stayed 2 nights but she wouldn't honor her word

This is a very comfortable spot one block away from the main square in Taos. It's exactly where you want to stay if you want the in-town experience. It's pet-friendly which is lovely, and my two dogs were happy here. (We brought our dog beds.) Of note is that there is no kitchen sink, but we brought water jugs based on other reviews. And, I found that sleeping was more comfortable with an eye mask. There is no TV or real lounge area which is what I was looking for. I wanted to ski, walk dogs, see the town, and meditate. Overall, it was lovely.

This is a terrific little place, big on Taos charm. Lots of cool stuff on the walls is for sale at great prices. Comfortable cozy bed. Nothing to complain about! I plan to stay here again!

Was ok. Place was little more of a retail place than a place to relax. Bright light shone in windows at night and unable to move blinds per request. No sink in “kitchen area”. Close to squate. Thanks

We had a wonderful stay at Casita Pequeña! The furnishings and decor are beautifully curated and give you a feel of truly being in New Mexico. Easy walking distance to the historic Taos Plaza with lots of shopping and dining opportunities. We are very happy to have stayed there and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a more authentic experience than the big bland hotels have to offer. Thanks Melissa, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Easy check-in, bed was comfortable, shower was good & hot, and location in Taos is perfect. As listed, property was filled with tchotchkes from floor to ceiling. The listing is accurate, but failed to point out that there is no sink with running water in the kitchenette. It is difficult to fill a bottle or container with water in the little bathroom sink. So much "decor" that there was no couch or love seat, so comfortable seating was minimal. Price is right, and this is a great place for someone who wants an convenient local base for spending time in and around Taos.

We stayed in an adjacent apartment owned by same person last year that was larger and had a living area and a TV. It was already reserved for this year when I tried to rent it again, so ended up reserving in a one room efficiency unit next door that lacked a living room or a TV, however, the bed was very comfortable, we didn't really need a TV, unit was only one block from the Taos Plaza, it had a small window unit AC which many apartments in Taos lack, and was very reasonably priced. We spent six nights in unit and would do it again if we come back to Taos next year,.

This was the perfect property for us. We’re retired , so walking long distances are a bit challenging. This little Casita is just steps from the Taos Plaza - lots of shopping, restaurants, micro-breweries and green spaces right out our front door. We were so happy that our Australian Kelpie, Brady, was able to join us. He got into a little mischief 🤷🏼♀️but as always, he was a trooper🐶. The Casita itself was amazing - perfect for 2 people. The bed was so comfortable, the decor is amazing, lots of little art pieces that grabs your eye/attention. Shade by the front door made it easy to sit outside and watch the comings and going of people. If you want to get away, enjoy the experience of meeting new people, and live in real time with the breathtaking scenery, this is your place. WE WILL BE BACK SOON! Our host, Mellissa was awesome. 🧡

Local Flair
This was a cute property. We only stayed one night as we were passing through but it’s in a great location downtown. There is no kitchen and if we would have stayed longer, that would have been a drawback for us. But otherwise, great location & great price!

Loved the Cute casita
We really enjoyed staying at this very colorful cozy casita, I even bought some of her items from the wall, great idea and fun looking at them, she had them very tastefully decorated. and Melissa was quick on responding to our questions.
My only request is if there is a small water dispenser for drinking and cleaning would have been little easier then going to a small sink in the bathroom. Other than that every thing was just perfect. Thank you

Dark and Hot
While the property is well located, it is woefully inadequate in providing a welcoming and comfortable environment. The lighting is abysmal. It took quite some time to find light switches, which even after being turned on, created a dismal ambiance. Two fans were turned on, but the cooling was awful. The room was warm well into the night, which made sleeping difficult.

Perfect spot in town. Melissa was very nice and communicative. My only complaint was that it was a little warm at night for sleeping.

Unfortunately, we had a difficult time our first night in Taos. Arriving in town in the afternoon, I still hadn’t heard from the host regarding check-in. When I reached her she told me she had sent the door code, but I never received an email. The code she texted me did not work, but luckily we found a hide-a-key in the mailbox. The studio seems to be a former storefront, with no ventilation or natural light. A small table-top unit didn’t do much to help. Lots of items displayed on walls and shelves are available to buy, adding to the stuffy, crowded feel. During my nighttime shower when the shower was not draining, I discovered a good sized hairball covering the drain. I was happy I had only booked one night. The host for our next two nights was excellent and our time in Taos was restful
