such a great stay!! it was the cheapest stay on booking.com so i was a bit nervous at first but honestly it was perfect and amazing value for money! the room was really rustic and cute and the bathroom was in great condition, the owners were really lovely and were really attentive. the breakfast was really good too!! was just a good classic full breakfast but i was really surprised to see they did veggie and vegan options too :) i’m only giving a lower rating than 10 as we didn’t try any of the lunch or evening food unfortunately so i can’t give it a good rating. but all in all it was a lovely little inn!!!
can’t really think of anything negative :)

Was made to feel welcome, lovely staff and great food. ☺️

It was friendly, helpful, comfortable and had a nice feel about it.
The shower was weak and the food whilst plentiful was not always as good as it could be. No cereal or variety at breakfast just full English or something on toast.

Comfy bed in a room over a cosy pub in a fabulous location! Friendly staff and good food too, both evening meal and breakfast.

The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly and helpful
The rooms could do with and update but for the price it was ok

Superb location, close to Wast water and Gosforth. Food was very good, excellent breakfast cooked fresh and hot every morning. Packed lunch provided if required. Staff very friendly and hard working. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Free car park next to the Screes and in front of the Strands. The beer is locally brewed at the hotel location, not to everone's taste, but I enjoyed it, especially the 'Whose Garden' wheat beer :-)
Rooms are a little dated and no air con in the rooms at the Screes Inn (other side of the road from the Strands) but no problem either as can leave the window open.

the location was lovely popular easy to find
lack of plugs in room
scrambled egg was too wet
breakfast menu lacked choice although if you ask they may do anything if you ask a lady got granola not on menu but only cos she was there 3 nights we were only there 3!
being moved seats so other guests could sit together although we were there first

Loved everything about our stay. Staff were attentive and friendly despite clearly being run off their feet ( lovely Hazel who deserves a mention- thank you 😊), the food was great, room was clean, practically laid out and all what we needed to rest after a tiring weekend. We would not hesitate to recommend and will definitely come back.
Nothing not to like. Only bit of advice would be to make sure you book in order to get food as it gets booked up quickly.

Very friendly and old fashioned but cute and picturesque. A little dated but .....
Food was fantastic
Bed clean and comfortable
Beautiful location
Depends. No phone signal, which was a refreshing change and a welcome surprise. Road is narrow to and from location. Glad we didn't meet anything too big the other direction

We booked this hotel after staying on a previous visit. The food and beer is very good and a great full english to start the day, the quality of the products is second to none. We also had a sunday lunch and it is up there with one of the best ever. The location is great for walking and the scenery is stunning.
We stayed in room 14 and the bathroom is very big but the shower is terrible, either scalding hot water one minute of freezing the next. This was the only thing we found issue with. The pub itself looks a little tired since our last visit.

the shower was faulty and only very hot water was coming out
they could have told us that the roads further on were not to be driven through the following morning - it was very icy and dangerous. the place is in a remote area especially in inclement weather

Fabulous location, great people. We will definitely go back and wished we were staying longer. After a long drive in the dark, it was just great to arrive at this haven on Saturday night. We had a lovely walk from the front door after an excellent home-cooked breakfast. Enjoyed meals in the pub both nights and my husband loved the prize-winning porter.
We wished we were there longer!

The room was comfortable and warm. Staff very accommodating. Decent breakfast and brilliant food with massive portions at the pub. Need to prebook, but you can do this when checking in.
I don't think that there are any downsides from this trip.
Some say that the location wasn't ideal, however I think it was great, only 15 minute drive from Wasdale Head.
