The Coachman's Quarters is a gorgeous place to stay. Our room was clean and spacious, the bed was big and comfy, the tea tray was well stocked, and we could see an eagle and a vulture (in their aviaries) from our bedroom window.
If you like running there is a parkrun at Muncaster Castle every Saturday at 9am and it goes right past the Coachman's Quarters! We are big parkrun fans so this was a massive plus for us!
It's fantastic that you get free entry wristbands in the room so you can visit the stunning gardens and the hawl and owl centre during your trip. We saw the Sky Hawks flying display which was brilliant!
The only improvement I could suggest would be to send an email a day or two before to say where the key collection will be for checking in after the reception desk has closed. We figured it out easily when we arrived, but an email beforehand would have saved us worrying about it on the way over.

There were not internal facilities to dine or a bar, I thought it was a Hotel, the main Restaurant was 1.5 miles away and a Cafe onsite was limited with opening times.
No bar or Restaurant but I suppose I should have checked better.

Good value overnight accommodation. Close to all attractions and facilities. Charming staff.

Coachmans quarters look a tiny bit dated BUT the extra large double bed very comfortable and room very clean with fantastic views of trees and sounds of the owls next door
Furniture a little worn, however all working perfectly like the towels and bedding perfectly clean crisp and welcoming.
⭐🙏BEST OF ALL🙏⭐
You get to have the whole grounds to yourself when the public leave. Its an absolutely stunning whatever the season. A chance feel like royalty walking around in a tranquil nature filled truly historical significant castle grounds with views of England's highest mountain.
You also have access to bird displays and flying shows and many many beautiful longer walks into the fells or along the river Estuary to Ravenglass
I live in Cumbria I have visited Mucanster many times but never stayed before.
It was my first time taking a friend from outside the county. I was beguiled all over again by this truly magical Lakeland Castle ❤ its grounds and the Ponsonby's family Brilliant management of this legancy
It has something to appeal to all ages. More importantly they support the local community as well as promoting and protecting the wildlife.
I applaud all the hard work staff and their diligent team work
Thank you
Just tiny things
Let the double room down
The bed side lamps were very tatty and shades looked cracked broken
(Charity shops and FB could easily replace for very little money)

A fabulous place to stay, we enjoyed the amazing castle gardens for 2 days.
The coachmans quarters were great value for money. All the staff were friendly and professional. A wonderful place.
Everything was great

Wonderful location in the grounds of Muncaster Castle, staff were friendly and helpful and the best thing is they allow dogs. We were fortunate enough to meet Ewan Pennington, who showed us to our room. Looking forward to going back again!
Nothing to dislike.

What an extraordinary place to stay!!! The accommodation was very comfortable (large apartment in the annexe of the castle), and the staff very friendly. The castle is very impressive, and the garden/park is absolutely stunning, probably one of the most beautiful we have ever seen (and we visited a lot of castle in the UK!): the rhododendrons and the azaleas are exceptional!! This castle, not far from the touristic roads in the Lakes district, deserves to be better known because it is an extraordinary place to visit (and to stay). We also received a lot of information from the son of the owner, clearly strongly involved and working hard to preserve this place, and providing excellent advices to see the best points of view!

Perfect location and so lovely to be able to wander the grounds out of hours.
The property was a little tired in places and could do with a decor refresh.

Beautiful place to stay, wonderful grounds, views, owls and staff and family. Spacious simple warm rooms, large bath towels, big kitchen if you want to self cater, great coffee shop.Ravenglass and Pennington pub just down the road.
Boisterous dogs in the shared kitchen!
Room 6 has black mould on the bathroom ceiling.
Avoid room 8- it’s very dark.

Exceptionally warm and personal welcome from Ewan pennington upon arrival. Outstanding location with complimentary entry tickets to Muncaster grounds the following day ( hawk and owl flying display and sky hunters bird of prey display ) Ewan gave us a mini guide around the grounds upon arrival, eagerly showing us a great view of the castle with a great history lesson. Very friendly and approachable staff, especially the man in the cafe . Having the added access to the grounds of the 77 acres on a night after the attraction is closed being a great added bonus. Beautifully kept grounds, with amazing views. Thrilling parks for the children with lots of hidden gems along the way. Highly recommended,so much more than we bargained for.
All single beds, comfortable non the less

The service was excellent, the family and staff couldn't do enough for us. So welcoming and a fantastic place to stay and explore, as well as a base for further afield. I was limited due to being a wheelchair user but still had more than enough to do and enjoy. There was one step into the room and a stair lift for the lounge, dining room and kitchen.
With the inclement weather it would have been handy to be in the same building as the lounge, dining room and kitchen. However I understand I was limited room wise with needing ground floor.

Everything. The staff were amazing. Room was lovely and warm. Such a fabulous quirky place. Loved having a stroll through the gardens both after closing time and early in the morning. We can't wait to come back in the summer to see everything in bloom! Huge thanks to the guy that fixed the WiFi issue, you're a flipping star!
Nothing, everything about it was fantastic!

Beautiful location; lots of interest and variety; super grounds; friendly, knowledgeable staff (we loved the curator’s talk in the castle itself); and great toasted sandwiches at the cafe!

I really liked the receptionist
It was cold in the room until about 10pm, it was uncomfortably chilly

Really appreciated the warm helpful welcome and a massive treat to be free to explore the gardens after hours!

Fantastic location and the grounds were good to walk around. The communal kitchen etc was great. Nice and warm in the room.
Lack of coat hooks to dry coats when wet. No shelves in bathroom so nowhere to put toiletries. Need new bedside lamps as badly worn shades. Shower doors not secure and we're off the runners. Lots of mildew in the bathroom on the walls and in the shower.

Bathroom could do with a little tlc but not bad.

Our employee was staying there for 1 night, his feedback was that it was a lovely location, very clean but he had to walk into the grave yard to get any internet.
He was very disappointed that he couldn't use his free band for visiting the Hawk & Owl centre which would have been lovely.
The internet service, not really suitable to business personal.

Great location, modern, very clean and comfortable.
Tv could be upgraded for ease of use.

Lovely location, right in the castle grounds. Nice to be able to wander around the grounds when the day visitors have left! Very quiet and peaceful. Plenty of appliances in the huge kitchen to prepare your own meals.

Lovely staff and gorgeous gardens. Perfect for pets, and close to local towns/shops and landmarks.

Friendly staff - quick response to problem with TV - Kitchen facilities very handy- Plenty to do on site - lovely walks and views - nice visit to Castle especially the lovely library
Shocked that there were no emergency rations on site when we arrived at 4.30pm. However, we were directed to local shop by very helpful lady on reception so not a disaster! We were also advised about meal possibilities at sister hotel. Sadly we couldn't make use of this as I was full of cold and didn't wish to spread it around.

The quietness, the freedom and birds
A silly little thing, mats for the hot drinks in our bedroom, so we didn’t damage furniture

Amazing views, very friendly and professional staff, not far from a sea side, interesting activities during day time.
