I originally stayed at another hotel in Shinjuku which had the most uncomfortable bed I've experienced in Japan. After trying the bed at another APA which my friend stayed at, I was blown away by its comfort and quickly made a reservation at APA Gyoemmae.
The location is excellent. A 10-15 minute walk or two stop stop subway ride with Marunouchi line from the craziness around Kabukicho and Shinjuku station, this area is dead quiet at night. And I say this as a very light sleeper.
As usual there are convenience stores nearby and plenty of restaurants once you hit the back streets. Or beter yet, take a 10 minute walk along the park to Takashimaya department store and have the perhaps best tonkatsu in Tokyo at Katsukura Shinjuku Takashimaya.
One minor gripe is that you couldn't control the temperature on the AC. Actually, they turned it off so that it only blew hot air even though early November is quite still warm.
I'd definitely stay at APA again.

Great location and easy access to railway. Also, bonus for being so close to the Gyoen Garden. Such a lovely time to explore a beautiful park. Ended up staying two nights there because we liked it so much.

Room is very small. If you’d like an iron you have to go down to reception everyday to borrow one for 2 hours. Room can get very stuffy, could not get air conditioning to work however when the room was serviced it was switched on somehow by the worker. Breakfast was terrible, I wouldn’t recommend it at all. Bathroom is clean but room walls had marks, carpet didn’t feel clean. Bed clean but stiff. For the price point in Tokyo I’m sure there would be better. Reasonably good location.

So small room but included a lot of staff. Great location. All self service, breakfast Japanise, so propably not worth of paying for all

I have stayed at this hotel in previous years and booked it again because of the location; however, with the explosion of tourism this hotel has been overwhelmed.
Service was excellent both at front desk and housekeeping, but the room shows sign of wear, dings in the wall and worn carpet, etc.
The elevator bank is insufficient for the volume of guests (and housekeeping) so they're almost always packed and I was waiting a lot. The worst part was the heat has been turned on and the room was too hot. The offered solution was to open the window, which in Tokyo made for a loud night. I would consider staying here again, but I would probably go elsewhere first.

Hotel room was small, but that is typical for Tokyo. Location is great. Bathroom clean and functional. Bed was small (perhaps an American double?). Air conditioning didn’t seem to be adequate for as cool and fresh as we liked. Skip the breakfast, unless you love Japanese breakfast - although American breakfast is advertised, the breakfast had very little (some days no) American food. The towels had a funky smell, almost like ramen. Fresh towels had the same scent.

Our stay was amazing. The location is very convenient do to its location near shopping and dining. The staff was very friendly and extremely professional! Our breakfast included which we opted for was superb. It was a nice blend of western and Japanese cuisine. Next time we go to Tokyo we plan to stay there again :- }

Rooms are super small but typical for Tokyo. Staff wasn’t super helpful although polite. Breakfast was ok but limited and options did not change at all which got tiresome after a few days. The public bath was good, strong hot jacuzzi. Good location.

Carpet needed repair. Robes for the spa did not fit and when I asked for a larger size they said they did not have one. They had a scheduled power outage but did not tell me until I got here. Check in took forever. Next time I go to Japan I’ll look for a larger room.

It is smaller than the average. I couldn't even open my luggage on the floor. There was a smell of tobacco lingering in the room, even though smoking is banned nowadays. They probably need to refurbish everything to get rid of it.

we have stayed in the hotel twice now - price is reasonable and location is very convenient. staffs are very accomodating too and breakfast is also offered but the best part for us is that the cleaning ladies are very noce they would get us all we need without any hesitation.

Cons:
- very small room
- many rooms have little to no view

Great modern room. The room is very space efficient, which is actually kind of nice. Good location near Shinjuku. Would definitely stay again.

This hotel is obviously one of many in the APA chain. Pros: close to Shinjuku district, easy automated checkout. Cons: the noisiest hotel I stayed at during my entire trip. I could hear guests in the hallway, thuds and door slams from neighboring rooms, and emergency vehicles outside (despite being on the 9th floor). There are only 3 elevators servicing 13 floors of rooms (at 32 rooms/floor, that's 416 rooms!) so wait times can be long. The breakfast was ok but not great. Overall, this felt like a hotel machine to churn guests through as fast as possible with the least amount of interaction as possible. Checkout was at 10am, an hour earlier than any other hotel I stayed at. And they had signs up warning that for every hour you stay past checkout, a 2000 yen fee would be added. That's about $14 if you're late! I would stay at a different hotel chain before returning to an APA hotel.

Great hotel to stay in for any visit to Tokyo, not far from Shinjuku and right around the corner from a metro station. Would definitely recommend staying here again!

room is small and sparse

The staff were very helpful despite my arrival was in mid night. If the price were more valuable, would be perfect.

The rooms are very small, which was expected. Unfortunately they do not have food ventilation and as such are very humid. My room had mites in and a number of stains on the walls and carpets. It was in need of a deep clean.
The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful.

The bed was dirty ive got itch on my skin also lots of dust on the curtain that located next to my bed literally touch the bed cover.
The laundry coin is really dirty most of their dryer and washing machine. It doesnt have password to lock ur laundry machine. I was very upset when i late 1 minute someone took out all my laundry and put on top of washing machine.
Location is ok.
The room is super small hard to open luggage

APA Shinjuku Gyoemmae is a nice hotel. The location is quite far from Narita but more reasonable to Haneda Airport. The surrounding area is quiet and within walking distance of many restaurants. Now for the room itself. It is small but I expected it; perfect for solo traveller and maybe tight for two people. Bathroom is also small but gets the job done. I liked the heated mirror and the adjustable sink faucet. The tub is unnecessary as there is a sauna on B1 level; perhaps in the next renovation the owner will remove it and install a shower stall. The carpet, the wallpaper, and the bed show their age but are well-maintained. Hopefully as part of an update, they'll get a better mattress and pillows that dont sink down. I like the mini-fridge in the room and the idea to turn it off when the room is unoccupied to be "green." It's summer so I slept uncomfortable the first night but then turned the air con down low to slept better. TV main page provides important details regarding your stay. Sauna is a nice bonus. The staff is polite and helpful but it would benefit them to have one staff member each shift that is fully fluent in English to make the hotel the best. I would definitely stay here again on a future trip to Tokyo. Thank you APA Hotels!

Perfect for a quick stop over and very handy for local shopping districts.

Nice hotel. A little bit far away from the center of activities. Automatic check-in.

For a hotel in Tokyo, it is a nice mid-level standard hotel. The rooms are very tiny, so if you need space find hotels with larger rooms. I stayed with my partner (in a room with a double bed) and it was small for two people. I did see a larger room, and asked if I could pay more for a larger room but was told by staff that all the rooms are the same size.

Great stay.
1.5 / 5.0
The staff needs to be more trained on the needs of their customers. I think they try their best but dealing with them seems to be a problem because of the language barrier- a little english will do a long way since most tourists know english- it can be very very frustrating to not being understood when you are tired from travels. I was also in a floor thats damp and a lot of mess . Specifically i checked in in august 30 2024 , on the 4th floor. Its kind of icky . Very small rooms but i guess expected. Good side- they have laundry self service,.

Comfortable bed. Quiet room. Nice public bath.
Breakfast is not worth 2000 yen. There are other nearby hotels that charge much less for breakfast that have much better quantity and quality of food and drinks.
