Lovely old building. Clean and well maintained. Staff very pleasant. I really liked that there was a bar and lounge area with a pool table. Free parking a bonus.
Bed kept moving when I lent against it - obviously on wheels. Not a major problem - just annoying. No mirror above dressing table where hair dryer was (room 3).
Minor things just to answer this question- I loved staying here and will be booking again.

The room was a reasonable size.
Shower facilities were not too great took a long time for the water to warm through
No disabled parking which made it difficult for me
No disabled parking, the parking facilities were not great so if you arrived late on there was no where to park. As I am disabled I needed a space that had space around it to ensure i was able to get in and out of the car easily.

Hotel nice size and welcoming. Pool table and nice sitting room. Friendly staff at reception. Room was quiet. Nice shower and clean. Hotel decor nice until you got to room 10.
The room was very basic. Curtains were not hung and did not meet in the middle. Wall paper coming off the walls. Curtain tie back had come off leaving holes in walls. Switches had been moved again leaving holes. Extremely shabby. No hair drier, no real wardrobe. Very thrown together. There were French doors leading to a very overgrown outside space. If this was cleared it would make a nice patio. This room could be lovely with just a bit time and thought. In desperate need of painting and new furnishings. We were only staying for one night we would not have stayed longer in this accommodation. The only thing going for it was it was probably the quietest of the rooms which is why we did not ask to be moved as hotel is on a busy road and we were given the room right at the back. The pictures on the site is not what we got. We were charged a deposit of 50.00 which was a joke as we could not have made the room look worse. Breakfast is basic continental but in with the price of the room, it did not state continental on the details. States plenty of free parking, but small car park for about 6 cars tops, rest is on main road. It is free though. Was disappointed as we could have paid a little more and stayed in the city but liked the look of this hotel on line and the reviews looked good.

Like the look and feel of the establishment. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The beds were a bit springy

Friendly staff. Comfortable room.
The curtains stiff and windows noisy and dated.

Location was good. Easy access to motorway and pleasant walk into city centre. Room was clean. The building is beautiful.
Only one pillow each on bed. These were quite flat so could have done with second pillow. Duvet was very thin. Really needed a thicker one or a blanket to be provided. Tables for breakfast very close together so we had to squeeze past other seated guests to visit the buffet. Tables could have been spaced out more. Parking was difficult when returning to hotel at night. Previously stayed here and had no issues with bedding or at breakfast so wondered if the hotel had changed hands.

The hotel is near a bus route for easy access to the city (and walking distance of Sefton Park, though we didn't go on this trip). The room is of good size, and reasonably well maintained, though the furnishings are a little dated.
If you are a light sleeper be aware that the main road is very noisy. Our room was also very hot - we found no obvious way to change the temperature, though were told upon check out we could turn the radiator down (neither of us could remember an obvious radiator in the room). The hotel is also full of signs about keeping the noise down etc, which gives an unwelcome feel. Every evening we returned to the room the bathroom light was on, presumably left on by cleaners for the extractor fan.

Comfortable bed. Clean. Quiet.
Shabby furniture. Extractor fan in bathroom clogged up. Continental breakfast disappointing and limited.

A lovely hotel that feels like home. Lovely original features and comfy bed.
No cooked breakfast but good choice of self service breakfast

the location was good
it was absolutely freezing in my room - dingle glazing only on the windows and my radiator didn’t work. I had to sit in bed in my big puffer jacket!
the whole room decor was very dated.
the shower doors kept falling off every time I tried to open or close them and the toilet brush was absolutely disgusting - covered in other peoples faeces.
