Very good . Only complaint were loud, partying guests invading bar at about 11pm and ruining a cosy atmosphere

Expensive parking, very small corridors, difficult with a suitcase, dis-interested reception staff.

This was a nice hotel, and we did enjoy our stay. However the shower didn’t work on the first morning; we mentioned this and were told it would be fixed or we would be moved, but neither happened

I would say the cleanliness could be better.
The carpets in the bar were not clean. The hotel looks like it needs a freshening up. It can feel at bit dark and dreary.
The cocktail was really nice from the bar and friendly helpful bartender.
( martini expresso)
The room (signature suite) was lovely with hign end toiletries and the bed was very comfortable. 35 min walk into town going downhill a bit longer coming back uphill.
A beautiful spot overlooking the suspension bridge and gorge.

The people on reception were excellent - polite and helpful. Our room was good if a little dark. We would have liked additional waters on our second night but otherwise all good. Our only complaint was the service at breakfast which was pretty poor. The dinner service was great, but breakfast not so good. Breakfast was however delicious. Parking is a challenge but through no fault of the hotel. very well located for Clifton Village which is lovely.

Absolutely loved everything about this hotel. The decor, the location, the view of the bridge. And dog friendly! Everything was perfect. Thank you avon Gorge!

A nice hotel and great location, but the room had clearly not been used for a while, and while pre paying for dinner was good value, it did not include the majority of the menu that required supplementary payment.

Room and bathroom spacious and bed very comfortable
Rest of hotel felt a little less so
We had 2 cups of tea in the lounge... 2 cups of warm water appeared (no saucers or tea spoons) 2 paper sachets with tea bags in and a glass tumbler with some milk in... for only £7.00! Plus an 80p service charge!
Nice enough stay but probably wont stay there again

Annual get-together with a group of work friends. Absolutely fantastic location, hotel rooms very comfortable if a little small for the price but I guess I paid for the view drinks expensive in the bar beautiful terrace service very good.

Our second stay. Special location. Fantastic quality hotel. Clifden is a great area. As we had our dog with us we asked for a room at end of corridor so our dog would not react to passing noise. The room we were given was excellent. We will be back!

An absolutely fabulous hotel. The room was a good size, very clean and very comfortable. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. Great areas for relaxing and a wonderful outside terrace with a superb view of Clifton suspension bridge. Our first time to Clifton/Bristol but we will definitely be coming back and staying at this great hotel.

Second time staying it’s such a lovely place to stay.

It's the driving time that we've stayed here while returning our son to Bristol, too far for us to do both ways in one day. We really appreciate the location, comfortable beds and general luxury feel of the hotel. Staff are always helpful. I also appreciate that we can use Tesco clubcard rewards towards our stay and think I have got the hang of that aspect now.

Amazing views and although an old hotel, the amenities were amazing. It had a very nice bar and Bistrot. The only issue I had was parking was very difficult.

This is the first time I have ever written a bad review of a hotel (and I travel all the time for work - so it must be really bad!). There were many things wrong with our stay, but I'll mention a few. The hotel seems to have a policy of ripping off its clients. We ate in the restaurant on two evenings and both times they tried to charge us a significant amount too much. When we checked out we were due a £15 refund, but they actually took £15 from my bank account instead. We tried to sort it out by phone, after we discovered what they had done, but the duty manager (Michele) was very rude and unhelpful and never called back despite promises by his (much friendlier) staff. We gave up in the end. It's a very dark and dingy hotel, with little natural light. We paid extra for a view of Avon Gorge and, admittedly, we could see the tops of the trees on the far side of the gorge out of the small window, but most of the view was of a horrible roof. And, finally, the hotel claims it has parking - which it does for a handful of cars - but most of its clients have to park on the street (and it's not easy to find a space anywhere near the hotel much of the time). We definitely will never stay there again.

Lovely hotel, and the view from the terrace is just breathtaking.
Our room was dark and the lighting was very poor.
Staff were very polite and efficient.
The bed was comfortable, pillows not so much.
I'm wondering why the underfloor heating in the bathroom was on? Also, the heated towel rail was very hot. Both really not needed in August.
Our dinner was lovely, the only fault was the steak was VERY salty.
Try the Clifton Puff, it's delicious.
Parking can be an issue, but that's to be expected in Clifton.
We will definitely be returning. I think the £315 per night was a little pricey, but it did include dinner.

Just had one night stay with work. Great location and great view from the terrace overlooking the gorge and Clifton suspension bridge just a 3-4min walk away.
However the attached bar and restaurant to the hotel I thought was overpriced for what was being offered. I had one pint, steak & chips and a side and it was over £60.
The room itself was very nice, clean and comfortable. Parking is an extra payment of £12 which I hadn’t noticed on the Expedia app as well.

Lovely property

This is a historic hotel located in the walkable and heavily gentrified Clifton Village area. It is a popular spot for afternoon drinks and cocktails, bachelor and bachelorette parties, birthdays, etc. the rooms are well appointed but small. The air conditioning was sporadic. The windows do not open, presumably for safety reasons , But this means that the view rooms offer very little apart from a glimpse.
There is only street parking and a complementary neighbourhood placard. Parking in Bristol is it a premium and the best of times, so failing to offer a valet or some other service for cars Seems like a significant oversight on the part of the hotel

I disagree with some of the negative reviews about the property. It was beautiful inside and I recommend requesting a room with the view of the bridge and the gorge - just stunning. Staff were lovely as well.

Nice stay in Clifton whilst on a university open day visit.

Arrived at midnight after a delayed flight, but welcomed with a smile. Small but luxurious room, perfect for a short stay.

The check in process was quick and easy, we stayed in a “cosy room” which was more than adequate in terms of space for a pitstop 1 night stay. The bar staff were very friendly and overall the stay was perfect for what we were looking for.

Amazing.
