Beautiful, serene setting. Gorgeous accommodations, lovely staff & food.

Wonderful recent stay. Visited with our 4mth old baby and hotel staff could not have been more helpful and understanding. Cot was placed in room, we were situated in the corner of the restaurant with space for baby’s bassinet at dinner and the whole team were wonderful with assisting with bags etc.
I called in advance to check if baby would be welcome in the dining room and was reassured that was fine. We dined a little earlier to try minimise disruption to other diners bur baby was ok and the team were again great. Dinner importantly was wonderful! As was breakfast!
The room was a great size for travelling with a baby, and the bathroom looked recent refurbished. No fridges in the room, but hospitality trays with kettles available on request.
The grounds were gorgeous - beautiful gardens which were lovely for a walk around.

Very nice place unfortunately we checked in late and had to leave early

Lovely hotel with traditional styling in a beautiful building with lovely gardens and views. We stayed here for one night following a celebratory meal for our daughter’s wedding. Staff were friendly and attentive and the food excellent. Our room was in the garden cottage with view out to the gardens. Really enjoyed the experience, thank you

A hotel that has great character and beautiful grounds

The staff and property itself cannot be described as anything but truly wonderful.

I love this hotel! The building is beautiful and the gardens are lovely at any time of the year. Staff are brilliant. The room was perfect overlooking the golf course. Breakfast was excellent. If you are looking for a romantic stay or just a night away from the buzz of life come here!

Greywalls is the most beautiful country house hotel with open fires, comfortable lounges and fascinating memorabilia. The rooms are tastefully decorated with comfortable beds and antique furniture, and even in February the Gertrude Jekyll designed garden is beautiful. The staff are welcoming and very attentive. The food is delicious but the menu is very limited so if you’re staying for more than one night it can be repetitive. We had lunch guests who are lactose intolerant which we flagged up weeks in advance but no account was taken of this so the only pudding offered was dairy free ice-cream. There wasn’t even a fruit salad! Also much of the coffee we drank was very weak. For a hotel of this calibre this was disappointing. Still we are looking forward to our next stay as the place itself is worth it.

Friendly welcome, free upgrade to an amazing room. Great food and service. A lovely relaxed atmosphere in the hotel.

One of my favorite hotel experiences ever. The staff was amazing and the place felt very homey. The views from the hotel are breathtaking. It is a bit far from certain restaurants and areas but the hotel offers you anything you might need. Would definitely come here again. Worth the price!

Ok

For such a highly rated hotel (and “superior” room) I expected a kettle and tea things in the room as standard but none there. Didn’t want to wake my partner by asking reception at 6am to bring it across when I realised this. Restaurant service for much needed tea at breakfast was very slow. Mirror with no light nearby and broken blind in bathroom also disappointing. Beautiful grounds and ambience in hotel itself

Excellent will go again

was ok, the cleanets were good, breakfast nice but not so pet freindly. Although pets allowed in rooms there was no bowls for them. Dogs not allowed in the main building to restaurant or where bar is so went to local 10 mins into Gullane. Bed was seriously Squeeky. Lovely building though.

Everything wonderful but marred by an authorized charge to my credit card that a week later and several emails following up, no one has addressed. So although I would love to return, I would only do so if there was a way not to give them my credit card details.
4.6
The main house and cottages are very comfortable and exude Edwardian elegance, and the beautiful gardens are very quiet and restful.
4.6
I liked the Quietness of the Hotel and surrounding location.
4.6
Beautiful Garden and view of golf course
4.6
A delightful hotel, must have been a charming family home. Surprised it is called Grey Walls because it’s built in Cotswold coloured Stone.
The gardens delightful.
Unfortunately all that was available to book were the two caddy rooms. Adequate but only just.
4.6
Excellent service, brilliant location for golf at Muirfield, worth paying for larger rooms as caddys closet was slightly tired and noisy from water running
4.6
Smallest single room I’ve chosen. Single bed was fine. Overall room felt a bit dated but functional for one nite only. Reasonable toiletries provided. Room had no coffee/tea making facilities which may seem trivial but as a single traveller it’s sometimes nice to have the option in your own space. Staff friendly and accommodating. Coffee available in communal areas. Traditional breakfast was fine and as expected. Location very good for golf lovers.

exceptional place to stay for an anniversary treat. Warm and welcoming and individual. Lovely staff. Great food.
4.6
Lovely place but could use a little TLC. Amazing service and really nice food. Will definitely return.
4.6
It was nice but not amazing and not really worth the cost for the night, the rooms were late to be ready and not cleaned to a high standard (dust on the windowsill, cobwebs by the window) and you could hear very easily people walking in the room above. Breakfast was nice and included in the cost but small portion, the grounds were lovely to walk around though.
4.6
Lovely setting, nice and relaxing. Staff were friendly and informative. Breakfast was limited but very nice. Slightly disappointed in that we tried to book dinner via the app as advised to do so, but unfortunately there was no availability, however when we arrived, we got asked if we wanted a table for dinner but by that time we had made alternative arrangements. It would have been nice to experience dinner at the hotel.
There was some maintenance issues such as bulbs out in the room, tennis court area, but you can expect a bit of backlog given the last year.
4.6
Terrible. Dirty room. Was moved to another one which had insect infestation. Holes in bedsheets. Worst hotel I’ve stayed in. How it is classed as a small luxury hotel, I’ll never know.
Broken TV
No mini bar
Mold on window
Broken toilet seat
Archerfield 2 minutes away is in a different league
4.6
Hotel room wasn’t prepared and serviced even at 16:30 when we arrived.
Either they didn’t have enough staff or they just took their sweet time to bring drinks, or food, wasn’t the experience I was expecting.
4.6
Breakfast was a disappointment, otherwise stay very comfortable

Beautiful old house
4.6
Exceptional hotel with good food and a marvellous garden.
4.6
Cold rooms, massive draft through door, poor water pressure, limited parking, no kettle for tea making and had to request multiple times.
4.6
Beautiful hotel with impeccable service and fantastic food.We were treated like royalty. Our room had the most beautiful view toward the sea, room itself was large, brights and very stylish. Food in the restaurant is just on point. Great local produce prepared with care and highest skills. We hope to be back
4.6
Beautiful house, warm and inviting. Lovely to sit in the library reading the paper and having tea. Beautiful gardens also.
4.6
Very attentive staff, couldn’t have done enough for you. Warm friendly hotel who pay particular attention to detail.
Food was amazing, with various types of menu to suit your taste. Fab!

The accommodation was described as a " cottage ".
It was , in fact , a gatehouse with steps up to the room..
As my wife is recovering from a hip fracture , and uses a walking frame , this was a complete disappointment.
As this was a 50th wedding anniversary surprise - we were sadly let down.
The hotel should be more honest in their description of the accommodation.

Its a home not a hotel ... wonderfully relaxing ... amazing location next to Muirfield Golf Club and stunning gardens

Peaceful location. Within walking distance of beaches.
4.6
Beautiful boutique hotel with fabulous staff. Pricey but worth it.

Delightful building and setting. Food stunning and service excellent. Ideal for a weekend retreat with good friends. Future visits planned!
