The host was very welcoming and we felt very comfortable during our stay. The location is perfect, quiet and at the same time close to the Medina which is good to walk around and visit the old city of Fes. The room price was affordable 50 euro per night, whereas Expedia listed the price in Moroccan dirham. The Riad offers a home cooked tagine dinner for 20 euro per person (approximately 210 dirham) and is a nice treat if you want a quiet dinner in (restaurant tagines are around 90 dirham). We tried 2 rooms: the inside rooms are very quiet and dark at night, the other room with the balcony to the outside was louder but has a fantastic view of the hillsides. Bathrooms are decent, we had some issues with the shower but that was fixed after talking to the host. The place offers to wash clothes for 1 euro (10 dirham) a piece, hanged to be dried, not ironed, which means the clothes might take longer to dry e.g, more than 24 hours. My only recommendation, and to avoid any confusion or misunderstanding, is to use the country currency (dirham) for the room price and the other services. Not all visitors are from Europe, and converting between currencies and changing exchange rates may cause budgeting problems.

Riad was beautiful. Breakfast is ok and the room was small but decently comfortable. Location is at the edge of Fes medina, could be hard to find or easy to get lost near there.

This is a nice, newly renovated raid near the wall of the medina, and not far from one of the gates, so it’s relatively easy to find. The room was pretty clean, and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast is good. We also ordered dinner there one night, and it was great.
The biggest downside is the staircase, which is very steep and narrow. Also, the shower had mildew.

We loved staying at the Riad Scalia! The property was beautiful and easy to find, away from the hustle and bustle of the medina but an easy walk away. We had a lovely terrace in our room overlooking the countryside. Our hosts were extremely kind and friendly.

Riad Scalia is charming and comfortable home away from home located on the edge of the Fez Medina. Our room and the common areas were clean and beautifully decorated. In addition, the shower was water was hot and the WIFI worked well. Our hosts, Mohammed and Nezah, were two of the nicest people I have ever met in a place where I stayed as a guest. Nezha went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful, and she is warm and genuine individual. After a long day of walking all over the Medina, she invited to the rooftop terrace for a cup of fresh tea. And what an amazing view! The home-made breakfast every morning was delicious, and Nezah showed us how she cooked the chicken and vegetable couscous that we had for dinner. Staying at Riad Scalia made our short time in Fes very enjoyable, and we were genuinely glad that we had selected to stay there.

Location is not bad, at least only 3mins walk when you get off from taxi, 15mins walk to the leather attraction. Tips: get into the main door and go left hand side (a hotel is there), go stright and turn right—>go stright and turn left when u see the beautiful lamp then you are arrived.
Even with this very cheap price, the breakfast was good but it only served from 9:00am. The Riad is very clean (just renovated) and beautiful, a different style from other riad, also with the nice view on the roof.
However, the shower facilities is not okay, the water pressure is not enough and the spinkle is fixed, it is hard to wash hair and body clearly with small water running out. The most important thing is it will be flooding when you’re taking shower, it took quite a long time to digest the water from the pipe.
And the single bed is so small, smaller than home’s bed. Only 1 hair dryer of whole Riad, have to be quick for borrowing it.
But with this cheap price, it is also super valuable to stay here, the host are also super friendly!

Riad Scalia is a beautiful Riad on the border of the Medina. It's about a 5 minute walk from where you have to park the car at Bab Guissa. Staff were very friendly and played with our daughter.
We ate at the hotel on the first night and it was expensive, but very tasty.

Riad Scalia is charming and comfortable without being pretentious. The rooms and the common areas are clean and attractive, the water is hot, the wifi is solid. While located away from the main tourist hotspots of the medina, the riad is still close enough to some very interesting quarters and Bab Boujloud is a short and cheap taxi ride away (or a fascinating 30 minute walk). Easy long-term parking is reasonably handy with porters ready and waiting to ferry your luggage for a tip.
But the real highlight of Riad Scalia is the manager, Nezha. She goes out of her way to make your stay wonderful and her concern for guests is warm and genuine. No matter what time of the day or night you come back to the riad, Nezha seems to be waiting and ready for a friendly chat about what you've been up to, before offering tea on the rooftop terrace.
Nezha's cooking was a daily treat. She serves her house-made breakfast every morning with pride and will cook dinner on request for a reasonable price (we enjoyed a delicious chicken and vegetable cous cous).
Overall, staying at Riad Scalia made our time in Fes more enjoyable and we were genuinely sad to say goodbye.

The property is a hidden gem inside a medina which I absolutely loved. Nezha was an amazing cook and super sweet! She made us feel extremely comfortable and recommended things to do in the area. I would stay here again and give it 5 stars!!!

I noticed afterwards that we should be served with drink when we arrived but we did not receive tea. We had trouble locating the place because the lat/long on Google map for their hotel is pointing to a wrong place. It could be fine but it was rainy and dark, I could only follow Google map before I managed to call them.
There were 3 of us. We paid 70 euro for a 5 hour tour in madina through the host, the female guide left my friends alone after 2 hours. I was sick and could not join, we still paid her 70 euro for 2 people. I asked the host to contact her, she thinks if my friends do not know where else they want to go, she has finished her job. The host is not that interested to protect the interests of us, but telling me my friend made a scene in the morning by "screaming at the guide in front of other guests". My friends wanted to cancel the tour because I was sick and they don't want to go without me, but I convinced them to continue and paid the same price. I don't see this as the reason that the guide choose to end the trip that early because my friends "finish the sightseeing fast". I personally apologized to the hosts on behalf of my friends for "screaming in front of other guests". But this does not mean my friends are at fault for all of these.
We had an early (8am) bus the next day, the host forgot to return us our passport one day before, so I had to embarrass myself calling their phones and knocking at door to get

Beautiful riad (recently renovated) and excellent service. Friendly and competent. Would def recommend if you are looking for a great value. Just have reasonable expectations of the amenities (WiFi issues, etc). Location is away from the busy center (which can be good or bad). Overall great stay!

We’ve had a lovely stay at the Riad Scalia. The architecture and the decoration of the rooms is very impressive ( traditional Moroccan + stunning panorama view from the balcony )
The hosts were very friendly and were avaible 24h/day to make the stay as comfortable as possible. Additionally the breakfast was very good because we’ve had the opportunity to taste real traditional morrocan self made backed goods. Absolutely recommendable!

The Riad was located on the periphery of the Medina, within a 15 min walk you were at the Blue Gate after passing sites along the main road. It was easy to find and close to the road so taxis were no problem. We were warmly welcomed by the host, who was very pleasant throughout our stay.
The room was comfortable and a had vibrant, themed decor. It had one double bed and a second room for a child only as an average adult would have difficulty sleeping in the bed. The common areas also had vibrant colors and were beautifully decorated. We took lots of pictures there. Breakfast was delicious - tea, juice, jams, bread, fruit.
Two things to mention are that the host did not speak english very well, so we had a bit of difficulty communicating about sites, bus information etc. and she also requested specific times for our return so that she could open the doors. This wasn't ideal for us as we were roaming about without active mobile phones but I am sure there is a way to work around this, we were only there for 1.5 days.
Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend.
