The house had some issues that were immediately addressed. House is very nice but does need some updating. Great views and lots of space. Can’t wait to return to the Ozark!!! Maureen was awesome! Thanks so much!!!

My family had a wonderful time and used all the amenities on property and also the nearby resort. We used the basketball court, played pickleball, tennis, sand volleyball and enjoyed the pool . The house is spacious and had plenty of room for our party of 19! All age ranges found so many ways to spend time together and have fun. The kids' favorite was the theatre room. The property owners are wonderful to work with and we will definitely be back!

We did a girls trip with about 15 girls and we couldn’t asked for a more fun weekend! There was plenty of space for all of us to have our own space to get ready and not feel like we were right on top of each other. One day We had overcast weather and the game room space allowed to have fun without having to leave the castle. The house being set up with Sonos speakers made it easy to play music throughout the house. It’s tucked away up in the neighborhood so it felt we were pretty secluded and didn’t hear much noise from the neighborhood. Maureen left great instructions on where things were located and recommendations for the area! Bummer we didn’t get to check out the pools because we visited before Memorial Day but I’d imagine they were great! Can’t recommend the castle enough and many friends asked for the link afterwards!

I would recommend staying at this house. The property was great. We really enjoyed our stay at Kinderhook because of the size of the house and amenities.

What a magnificent property! The surroundings and views are absolutely stunning. Our Bachelorette party of approximately 20 guests had more than enough room. The attention to detail in the home is incredible and the scenery is breathtaking. Maureen was extremely accommodating and made check-in and check-out super easy. She was quick to respond to any requests we had, and her level of detail in providing information was impressive. All the bedrooms were unique and cozy, with super comfy and clean beds. Since the bedrooms are located away from most common areas, everyone had plenty of privacy and could go to bed early without any problem. The castle's layout is fun and inviting, making you want to explore. We were amazed by the common areas, which were all very unique and well equipped for entertainment, from televisions to the sound system. The kitchen was a dream come true for the Chef who prepared dinner for us one night. Despite the Spring-like weather in late March/early April, we still explored the trails and gigantic outdoor patios, which were well maintained. We had everything we needed or could have wished for on the property. Staying in a castle and celebrating with friends was like living in a fairytale.

We celebrated my husband's 40th birthday here with friends and had a great time! The Spa at Old Kinderhook was amazing also.

This is a must stay!!! Awesome property for a group. Came up from Texas for a graduation at MIZOU. Adults and kids had a great time. Great property with great views . I could go on and on. Basically we had an awesome weekend. There are lots of houses on the lake for rent. I would choose this one again. Thanks

Kinderhook Castle was perfect for our wedding!! Our kids loved the pool table, theater room, the trails around the property!! The venue is very spacious yet felt so cozy!! I want to thank the hosts of the "Castle" for such an amazing experience that will be remembered for years to come! We arrived and were immediately blown away by the picturesque views and craftsmanship that this home offers. We took advantage of the kitchen and grill the first night and it really made the trip feel like a home away from home. If you are looking to take a group to the Ozarks, I highly recommend looking at this property as I you will not be disappointed.

The Castle at Kinderhook is an amazing house/home to stay. My husband and I choose this location to share our wedding celebration with family and friends. The views from each balcony is a magical site that is best seen in person. During the process of planning our wedding Maureen, (The owner), was so helpful and caring with anything, we may have needed. A beautiful place to visit and stay.

We had a small group of friends & family visit the Old Kinderhook Castle for our daughters wedding. The Castle’s setting with the lake background was perfect. Our host was incredible! She answered all our questions & went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. The movie theater was awesome for the children and later as a disco for the young adults. The beautiful rear patio & lower level bar area with an awesome basketball court was perfect for dinner and DJ to keep us entertained. If your looking to enjoy a family retreat, a group golf trip, or a wonderful getaway with friends this home is perfect.

All in all it was great. Property is pretty much as described with a few errors/omissions/untruths. But plenty of space to have a great time. The surrounding area has a lot to entertain you.

Everything about the house was as advertised. It was spectacular and my family loved it. However, on our first night the roof in the master bath and closet was leaking like a waterfall (There was a large amount of water on the tile floor, which was dangerous) and we waited around for a long time for the repairman. both that night and the next morning It was still leaking the second day. Even worse, two days before we were to leave, the air conditioners broke down and could not be repaired while we were there. VRBO found rooms for some of us at the Lodge, but 8 of us were left to sweat through the second night. It was around 85 degrees early the next morning. They offered us another night at the Lodge, but we had an infant and a great deal of luggage. So we were forced to leave two days early. This was heartbreaking for me to leave early because I have Parkinson's Disease and that may have been my last chance to have my family all together. The stress and heat also intensified the symptoms of my disease. Maureen Schaller, our hostess did her best to remedy the problems. However, due to all of the problems, we virtually lost 2 days of vacation. Maureen asked what she could do to make this up to us, and my husband suggested a refund for one day. Upon reflection, it was actually 2 lost days and more time waiting for repairmen. If we were reimbursed for another day (considering they did not have to pay for another night for 3 rooms at the Lodge), I would really appreciate them reviewing our file and perhaps issue another refund, perhaps another day. I want to say that this would not stop me from using VRBO again, and we know that Maureen was doing her best. We already received a credit on our account for one night. I have used this company for many years and will continue to do so.

The house had plenty of space for the whole extended family. Had some issues with WiFi, but homeowner tried to resolve this issue. Only a minor issue as we were out most days. When we were booking we felt as though it were saying that there was a pool on the site, but had to drive to community pool, again minor issue did not effect our families ability to have a good time. The basketball court and theater room were awesome for the teenagers. Overall we enjoyed our trip.

I had our small wedding here and invited our family to come and stay at the castle with us. Everyone enjoyed how unique the property is and it was perfect for the event. Plenty of space in the house for everyone, and so many activities available! We would love to come back!

I booked Kinderhook for a luxury business work retreat with a group of women. Staying in this beautiful castle is something they will never forget. We loved it so much, that I am going to book more events here. I can't recommend it highly enough. The views are breathtaking and it was as comfortable as it was beautiful. Maureen was excellent to work with and very accommodating to our needs. I can't wait until my next retreat here.

Wow! Huge house - Great views...

The home was AMAZING! Fully stocked for cooking and hosting. Tons of space and activities for family members of all ages. The views are to die for and the over all layout of the home is super plush. We loved it

Lived like a king for a week, everyone was amazed by the house. The only thing lacking is that there are no couches, probably says a lot that this is all I have to complain about.

We had our rehearsal dinner here and it was perfect! Lots of room to mingle!

My mother just passed two weeks before our stay here. We have eight children and my husband has Lewy Body Dementia. Our time here was glorious... very relaxing, plenty of room for the kids to spread out for me and my husband to have some time alone. Everything is immaculately cleaned, spacious and the place gives you the Cinderella feeling during your stay... luxury living for a few days. To top things off, the owner on finding out that my mother had recently passed, paid out of her own pocket for me to have a personal massage at the spa. It really touched my heart. She is easy to work with, pleasant and looking out for your best interest. We will return.

Rental process was flawless. The house was spacious and everything we needed for our family reunion.

The venue is a bit dated but very spacious. Elevator was not working so unable to allow my grandma to see the whole venue! One of the plus ones brought a pet, which was not allowed and I was unaware. The host called screaming at the top of her lungs, berating me and being completely disrespectful. I apologized and advised her that I understood and had the pet removed immediately. I pleaded with her and she continued to yell and curse and be irrational. The venue is spacious and in a great location. Definitely dated and the host was a nightmare to deal with. I literally had so much anxiety after speaking to her. I definitely understood the frustration having a pet there, but the way she yelled and carried on was unreasonable and couldn’t have been healthy for her. The venue is worth it as long as you don’t have to interact with hostess.

Upon arrival, I was amazed at how beautiful the Castle looks in person. Myself, along with a group of friends and family enjoyed a wonderful weekend here and have zero complaints. I was able to communicate with Maureen at any given moment and she was more then willing to assist with anything I needed. I will definitely return here for another vacation!!!!

This was such a great place for our family to stay. We never left the castle (except to go to the store). There were so many things to do right there! I work in the wedding business and it would be an amazing venue space!!! I couldn’t stop looking at all the details!! The castle really let me believe I was the queen for a bit. We can’t wait to go back. Our children are young adults so it was so great to carve out this time for us all to be together. This was the absolute best place for that. Even our granddaughter who is 18 months got to explore. Our kids have asked for this to be a tradition! Seeing the pictures they all took and looking back on the memories made there, I’m positive I found the perfect place for our family.

There was 20 of us in our group, we had PLENTY of room. From sleeping, to cooking and eating, to just hanging out. We never got bored, plenty to do in the house and in the surrounding area. Will definitely recommend this property to others!!

Kinderhook castle was everything we could have wished for in a wedding venue. The house was clean and spacious. The views were amazing and everyone had a blast. We had about 30 people at our wedding and every one of them complemented the house. Most guest stayed at the lodge, but the wedding party stayed at the house and that went great. There is plenty to do at the house and on the resort. Most of our guests didn't leave the resort for the entire weekend. The spa located just 2 minutes from the castle did the hair for the wedding and they did amazing. The restaurant on the resort can be pricey but the food is always great. Kinderhook castle and Old kinderhook golf resort is an amazing destination for any event or vacation.

This VRBO was absolutely perfect! It was everything we hoped it would be for our wedding and more! My husband and I loved it as well as our friends and family. The home itself and the views were breathtaking. Maureen was so friendly and very responsive in a timely fashion. I am beyond happy with our VRBO and without a doubt would recommend the Kinderhook Castle to anyone looking in the Lake area for a fun get-a-way or even beautiful wedding.
