The room was very comfortable and cosy, and the kitchen and bathroom were both clean and tidy. The BnB is in beautiful surroundings (even in the rain!). George was brilliant, accomodating us even when we finished our tramp and turned up several hours earlier than anticipated.

The information for the BnB needs to be updated as there is no longer the offer of a cooked breakfast (although toast/cereal etc are on offer).

George was so welcoming into his home. It was lovely having some breakfast items to prepare for ourselves and the use of the kitchen facilities to make our own meals. The main bedroom downstairs had a superb ensuite and large luggage storage area/walk in wardrobe as well as a huge TV in a sitting area. The views down to the sea were fabulous and at the back up to Mount Taranaki - we were lucky to see the summit every day of the 3 we were there. The location is so peaceful. Great value for money too.

GREAT PROPERTY AND HOST

The room and bathroom were huge. There was unlimited access to the living areas including the kitchen and the fire was great. There was also a pool table. It was a lovely clean tidy house. The flexibility of when I could come and go and use the kitchen.

I was a bit surprised there wasn't a hot breakfast but everything else made up for that. Given the location, the wind can get pretty strong and loud but once you get a few kilometres down the road it's okay, so it's good to know otherwise you may be reluctant to go out.

Wow.... Just wow.... A most comfortable and cosy home to stay in. Such beautiful views from the main living areas. George was most welcoming and his home is full of all the facilities you could need. Such comfy beds, large shared kitchen, smart clean bathroom and lovely sofa area plus pool table. A short stroll to the start of one of the Taranaki tracks too. Thank you for renting out your home. A nice setting in the bush.

We really enjoyed honing our skills on the pool table, especially as the weather was stormy and wet, making outdoor activities a bit difficult. We liked being able to use the full kitchen to cook dinner. Our bedroom was cosy and warm, and the bush views from the house were gorgeous.

The breakfast supplies are very basic and unappetizing to look at, and we were very glad that we had brought our own fresh bread, milk and other breakfast goods.

George’s BnB was everything we could have hoped for - an easy stroll from the end of the Pouakai Crossing, an outstanding host in George, wonderful company from our fellow guests, the cosiest lodge with all facilities we needed and a lovely brekky each morning to make things easy!

A large comfortable house that comes with a good sized shared kitchen with everything you need (booking.com mentioned the suite I booked had it's own kettle and a microwave but I was a bit surprised to find that wasn't correct - despite that the place was really good). Good place to do hikes and George even offered to give us a lift after our walk if necessary. Guests here have a lot of freedom to feel like you are home. It was nice being able to chat to other guests too.

A bit far out of town on windy road which is a bit trickey at night when you are not familier with it. Booked 2 bedrooms for 2 nights but George had double booked so 3 of us shared bedroom 2nd night. Was given a discount but sharing not what we preferred.

Beautiful location with a nice view of the mountain. Quiet, safe and surrounded by nature. Easy to get there and free, covered parking available.

The kitchen could have been cleaner, especially the microwave. There were a few dirty spots in our bedroom as well.

The only saving grace was that the bed was comfortable and the sheets appeared to be clean. Oh, and the nice view.

George needs to charge more so he can save some money to buy a vacuum cleaner and some cleaning products. I also hope that his public liability insurance is up to date from the pavers outside the steps that threaten to tip you up to the smoke alarm that is disabled outside the room to no privacy lock on the room door, it could be a disaster waiting to happen. The room hadn't been vacuumed, the bathroom had tags from someone else's clothes and other bits on the floor. We didn't try the shower or have breakfast we just wanted to leave. It is such a shame as it's in a nice location and the house could be so delightful. Oh, and the common areas of the house hadn't been vacuumed either.

The house was really nice. The view from our room on the Taranaki. Our private bathroom next to the room. The house looks great and spacious with a nice patio area.

We liked that, the house was remote, rural surrounded by trees etc but they had great views. We liked the way the house was presented, our bedroom and ensuite was modern and comfortable. We could freely use the kitchen and lounge. ..breakfast was self serve, everything was provided ....We enjoyed a very comfortable stay here...
