Location was beautiful. Very peaceful.

The property had a large garden of mature trees that occupied the area enclosed by a river in an amazingly contorted bendy canyon. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

The garden was a little further from Stratford than I expected. Our experience was not helped by an initial misdirection by Google maps.

What a beautiful place! It felt like being in an african lodge. The accomodation was great and Amanda a lovely host. Everything, including breakfast and dinner was perfect. The lodge ist located in the hills close to Stratford, with spectacular views on Mount Taranaki from Croydon Road.

Lovely surprise with Large African-themed gardens and rooms. Good dinner ann breakfast at reasonable prices. Country location. Large room and beds very comfortable.

I was greeted by Amanda who exudes genuine friendliness and very helpful. Was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at the location and felt like I was in the garden of Eden with the sound of many birds echoing their song through the bush. There are many surprising little paths that led to amazing open spaces, gardens, bridges, with African animal statues dotted around the property. Each one has information to educate you on the species, age, size, survival rate. There is a fairy garden and playground created for children's imagination to run wild. Pathways lead you off to the unexpected. The room was clean, tidy with everything I needed to accommodate preparing light meals. The bed was so comfortable, and I was very grateful to sink my tired body after a busy day in the township. The best shower I've had in a long time. The environment alone is revitalising. If you want peace, tranquility and love gardens, bush and everything creative and different then I would recommend Te Popo. I did not stay the weekend therefore did not get to experience the open cafe. If you're wanting to be close to town and amenities, then I would recommend you find something in town otherwise take this time to really ground yourself, appreciate nature and the amazing hard work this couple have created for others to enjoy. My stay was everything I could of wished for however the room is not that soundproof. Can be tolerable if your understanding of young children.. :)
