The Avlon House was just what you'd expect from a quaint B&B, and more! It was exquisitely decorated for the holidays, from top to bottom and throughout! I found it so homey and cozy and it just made it feel like Christmas! I was living the real-life Hallmark movie... only without the hot romance with the local vet or doctor! LOL

Tom's hospitality, good attentions and willingness to make our stay even more enjoyable, variety breakfast options, comfortable and quiet rooms, plus his house is carefully decorated with cute Christmas objects, made us feel even more of the magic of the time. We highly recommend this lovely place.

Every thing was fine

loved everything about this property…we had a twin room with shower en-suite that came equipped with little toiletries. There was also a little basket with items that you might have forgotten like toothbrush, razor etc. There was tea/coffee facilities, an alarm clock an even a booklet to give you info on the surrounding area an places to visit. Have to say the breakfast was exceptional an absolutely credit to Tom

About 15 minutes walk from town centre and the "Visual" (an art gallery and the centre of the festival in Carlow). This was a good exercise for me but might be a problem if you don't want to walk

The place is really near from the train station and restaurants/cafe. Tom was really way beyond nice and very hospitable. We definitely recommend this place for single/couple/family. A great getaway from the city to relax and unwind. Will definitely come back. P.S. I requested Tom a simple birthday cake for my husband to be given at breakfast and he was able to pull it off smoothly and my husband was really surprised! We were able to share the cake with other guests as well and the cake was delicious! Kudos to you Tom! - Filipino couple from Dublin

The location is very central and was about a 5 minute walk to amenities. The room was spacious with plenty of storage. The bathroom was immaculate and the room was well maintained each day. Wifi was quick and the TV has a range of channels available. The breakfast was very tasty and plenty of variety to suit all tastes. The only complaint I could make is you'd probably eat too much as Tom's breakfast offerings are excellent. The owner was very engaging, accommodating and welcoming. There is plenty of off street parking at the property. Tom made some very good recommendations for eating out and places to see (Thank you). Highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Carlow or even just passing through. Worth every penny and you won't be disappointed.
