Very enjoyable stay. The construction for the Alamo required a little adjustment but not an issue, they provide a lot of information about it on the website. All the staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and well equipped. Free water! It always kills me to finally get in a room after a day of travel to find a bottle of water in the room is $6.00.

I was disappointed. Room was extremely small for the price The a/c wasnt working in some parts of the hotel. It didnt cool enough either if it did work and they didnt tell you that until you checked in. Bed was very uncomfortable.

Perfect location. The hotel was a little dated but was worth it. Very nice experience!

The building is amazing, the bed so comfy. However, the staff for breakfast were the rudest we've encountered in the whole of Texas and at checkout the receptionist took a call when serving me and someone in the back was moaning about a customer who had complained about their room being 'stuffy'. So unprofessional.

Business Trip. I enjoyed the "Old World" atmosphere. Very clean and well-maintained for an old building. Economical!

It was a pleasant & satisfying stay. Bed was comfortable. We didn’t have any meals at the hotel. The grounds and architecture were very nice.

This hotel was beautiful, it was built in the 1800's and still has the old-world charm. The staff were all friendly and helpful and it was close to the attractions that we wanted to visit. We would stay there again.

The beds were comfy the air conditioner worked great and the place was absolutely beautiful. The only complaint that I have is that the Walls were thin and you could hear between the rooms especially the water pipes. But we would definitely stay there again as the history of the Hotel was amazing!

We had a lovely time… comfortable and cosy for one night. Great location for vibrant city and efficient valet parking. Hotel itself was a sight-seeing treat on its own! Also - Very powerful plumbing!

There was a lot of construction in front of the hotel making it hard to get around. Having to use valet parking is expensive too.

I would have to say that the breakfast brunch at $28 is overpriced. There isn’t anything overly special about it. With that said, the hotel is very nice, historic and the service from the employees is excellent.

Had the best time satying. Perfect location for a downtown visit. Everything in less than a 5 minute walk from my room for me.

I don’t leave reviews that often but it was pretty bad here. I got to the room and it looked okay at first. Took a shower and the water pooled to my shins. Called maintenance and they fixed it but same problem the next day. When I went to lay in bed there was food debris under the bed cover. It looked like someone had cheetos and wiped their hands everywhere. The sheets had not beed changed. This was probably five hours after turning the air conditioning on as low as it could go. The temperature did not get below 76F as the air did not work. I asked for a fan which I was able to get. Did not walk on carpet without my sandals as it was very sticky. When I first arrived after a long travel day I had gone to the bar to grab a drink. I probably waited 25-30 minutes and multiple people had walked up to the bar and gotten drinks and I had not been asked if I wanted anything at the table. Wasn’t sure if I needed to order at the bar. So without being served I left and went to Crockett Tavern with good service. All that to say, I travel a lot. I don’t expect much out of very cheap places. Even cheap places change their sheets. The Menger is very expensive. In spite of the price, it is extremely dirty. Housekeeping and maintenance were very nice and tried to remedy things quickly.

Mark at the front desk made our trip so nice. He made you feel like you were at home. Beautiful hotel. Very well maintained and clean.

First impression wasn't that great. There is so much construction going on it was very hard to find the hotel. When you look at the pictures online you expect to see this grand colonial hotel at it's best. This is not the case at all. It's dreary. It gives more of a crimson rose feel. But the pool and the garden is magnificent. Along with the dining hall.

Front desk at night was a guy and he was absolutely helpful loved him !! Everything was perfect bar was fun too! Only thing was getting to the hotel was kind of tricky due to construction around but overall wonderful !

Great location, close to shopping, restaurants, and river walk, front desk staff very welcoming, and professional, housekeeping staff, not friendly, and despite notifying front desk staff to notify housekeeping to clean room, and replace dirty towels, service was not performed, had to ask housekeeping staff on floor, if they would be cleaning room, house keeping supervisor stated "no" we don't service one night stays, although we were asking for services on day two for a 3 day stay, I explained to her that we requested service in the morning, she said she would find out what happened. We went out and about for hours returned and room was still not serviced. She saw me in Hallway and asked if room was cleaned, i said no, and she stated " I told her to clean it" and she proceeded to call someone. I then told her we would be stepping out for a while again, she said ok. Upon return about 6p.m. room was some what serviced, we didn't have enough towels, and no toilet paper, i had to ask front desk, which they immediately fixed. Over all, I would stay again, as front desk staff was awesome. As for housekeeping, they need to be friendly, and step it up.

Construction

Amazing stay! We had so much fun per usual. We can’t wait to come back and stay again :)

The place was falling apart. Paint was chipping of the walls. Carpet was old and worn out. The tub was literally falling apart. You could break the plastic of and it was missing in areas.

Had reserved two rooms via hotels.com and requested in notes to have side by side or on same floor at least. This was ignored and I was told I should have called hotel to make that type of request. Room was nice and cool during hot summer. Ceiling fan made clicking noise that was bothersome. Had to turn up tv to tune it out. Will stay there again. Beautiful, historic hotel and close to many San Antonio tourist destinations.

Loved the hotel. Only thing was the room was very hot. It was set at 68 & still was about 75 in room. Sleeping was uncomfortable. Otherwise everything else was great

Wonderful old hotel with so much history. I will stay here again! My only complaint was that room service was sometimes unavailable or incomplete. I didn’t get all that I ordered for breakfast but wasn’t charged for unavailable items. Twice I called for room service and had to go to the bar to order. That isn’t much when you consider what a beautiful old historic hotel this is. Easily accessible to touristy active ties.

It was a good experience staying in a place where other historical people stayed at.

Had a lovely time. Loved the bar and the pool. Beautiful hotel!
