Overall a really nice property. We stay at many all inclusive resorts each year and the Excellence brand has been one of our favorites. This property didn't disappoint

The service and entertainment staff deserves more than 5 stars they were amazing!!!!!! The front desk staff needs more english speaking staff to greet guest. It was challenging and frustrating at times Melvin at front desk was great!

Very beautiful property with tons of dining options and bars. I did a solo trip, but I would say the hotel does feel like it caters to couples . However, this did not really negatively impact my trip. The staff are overall very friendly and helpful, even if they didn’t speak English well. Their app isn’t the most user friendly, but I loved that I could see the menu for every restaurant on there. The beach and pool did leave a lot to be desired as there is only 1 main pool , and the beach has a lot of seaweed and is sometimes not deemed safe to swim in. However, the view of the ocean from the beach chairs was very calming/beautiful. I will also say I love the bamboo tree coverings they have over every pool and beach lounge chair, it offers perfect shade from the sun. The suite was very beautiful and spacious, and I got one of their lower end/ cheapest rooms. Only cons for me on this trip were that when I first got into the room the shower had a glob of hair left from a previous guest. Also on my very last day there there was a dead bug on my balcony (I believe it was a roach). I don’t know how it got there or died cause I never saw it prior. Other than that it was a great stay, I was a bit scared to go by myself to the DR due to some reviews I’ve heard about other resorts, but id def recommend this one if you’re looking for a chill, upscale resort to go to. Also, I love that at each restaurant they only serve bottled water in their jugs so you don’t worry about getting sick.

My husband and I are very well-traveled and have stayed at other Excellence Resorts before, and we have our favorite that we will go back to because everything there was a 10 out of 10. We will not be coming back to EEC. I will say we still did enjoy our vacation, but solely due to a few couples we made friends with and a very small handful of staff. Danny, Lorenzo, and Michael. Best servers Debora, Brenda, and Johnnie. Awesome entertainment staff. And of course, Emilio. Only had a couple of interactions with him, but he can make sure things are taken care of. But this Excellence resort needs some work. Some staff can be rude and we felt unwanted unless we were tipping. The grounds are kept nice and tailored, but there is quite a bit of facade work that needs to be done for example lots of rust around the pool, cracking plaster work, and rooms need to be updated. I even had pillows that smelled like mold, so I had to request new ones. The food is good at best but at almost every restaurant the menu says one thing and we receive another, especially with the desserts. Why say you have watermelon sorbet and then give me vanilla ice cream covered in fruit juice? There was not one meal that "wowed" me like other resorts have. The pool was not kept as clean as I knew it should be. There was always a line of algae on the outer walls and other debris floating in the pool. In my opinion, this resort does not live up to the "Excellence" name and isn't worth the hefty price tag

“Filtered” water made many of our guest ill with Gastrointestinal upset.

The resort was more than I expected. I have only been to one other resort, no affiliation, and this was a much better experience. There were many options in which to eat, the entertainment was spectacular and the staff went above and beyond. I will definitely make sure to stay at Excellence if offered where I visit next.

Hot tubs by the mail pool did not work properly.

Property was pristine, with lush landscaping and well manicured floral spaces. The amount of options for dining and bars was more than we could ever thoroughly try in a shorter stay. Beach was a little wild with hurricane that had passed but ultimately comfortable waters, with the typical seaweed build up for this time of year. Room was a swim up suite. Lovely accommodations, we could have stayed in the room/patio our entire stay. Night life was fun and fitting for everyone. I recommend this stay.

The staff was amazing, anytime we need anything help was available and we just felt like home for a few days especially being our first time celebrating our anniversary.

Rooms could use updating

The resort is awesome but the food is terrible and the service and staff are pretty bad. They act like you are bothering them if you need something or asking a question. The bellboys are very nice though. The food is all bland and bad quality. It's worse than I expected for an all inclusive resort. Seems like they put little effort into the food.

This property was amazing! The staff is what truly made the experience for me. The people here are incredibly warm and hospitable. Especially Jose’ from The Grill and the waiter at the Hibachi on Monday night! Property is beautiful with lots of areas to lounge. The only downside I had was the cleanliness and general upkeep of the room. That area needs a lot more work, I wouldn’t say the rooms were immaculate after cleaning. All in all , a great experience. I would return.

Overall the property was nice, very clean, food service great. But they have issues with theft and NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT AT ALL.

As far as the property, it was nice all around wasn’t too much that I liked because the resort had older crowd and the rooms were disgusting, mold all in the showers curtains, filthy sofa, and ottoman in the room nasty to where it broke my body out then when you complain, they give you a free upgrade for your next day not satisfied the food was OK activities they had a few, but they were for a older crowd meaning 50 and 60

Property was beautiful. Food was excellent. Restaurant service was horrible.

Beautiful resort. I did not get the room I paid for, according to the resort because of the a/c malfunctioning. I was not refunded but was offered a credit. My new room didn’t have any privacy, my husband and I are celebrating our anniversary so privacy was our top priority. I was very unhappy during my visit.

Great resort with a wonderful staff. I recommend the Samana island and Saona island excursions highly.

No A/C for 2 days, power constantly going off due to rain ?

I liked the setup of the room, the main pool with swim up bar, and private cabana rental on the beach. I was not impressed with the quality of food for room service.

Excellence club wasnt worth the money, Staff felt and looked more bothered to help you than anything especially at check in. When we got there we were never offered to change into our bathing suits to enjoy the amenities while our room was getting ready we went to the pool and fell asleep on chairs in our travel clothes. Overall ok resort. Plunge pool was great room ok, Staff at restaurants and workes elsewhere were amazing, nice and helpful. Food was good.

The resort was amazing, we can’t wait to go back!
