Booking and check in was straight forward and easy. Room was warm when we arrived which was good. Beds were made well. Towels and bedding clean. But unfortunately it goes down hill from there. Walls were dirty, doors dirty, sofa was dirty, used soap from previous guest in shower, previous guests hair in bathroom vanity/ draws, spa had a poo smell when using the jets/ bubbles, jug for a coffee and plug in heater didn’t work. A power point switch was not working and unsafe to use dusty on surface's and inside cupboards which holds cutlery, no flannels to wash your face. No extra blankets if you get chilly in the night. Good unit with plenty of potential but needs a bloody good clean.

If you looking for a Thermal Spa Resort- this is not that. If you looking for a cabin in the woods, and a bed to sleep this is your place. The Hotel is very run down, and falling apart. They have tried to make it nice by painting etc but overall, very old and well used. For this type of money, you are better to stay at the campgrounds down the road.

A bit of NZ history and must have been a ‘Grandeur’ in its day so I hope it’s restored! Good price, perhaps reflecting its quaintness! Great for accessing the bike tracks and free hot pools.

Absolutely vial! Cold and dirty! Absolutely nothing like the pictures i will never return! I actually want my money back!! Rubbish everywhere and much much more

Room was dirty

First thing that sprung to mind as we drove down towards the "Grandeur" was the movie The Hills have Eyes ...... Such a shame as it was probably once a very beautiful place. Pulled up to our Chalet and the 1st thing we noticed was the smell of urine. All windows were open so clearly the so called cleaner was aware of this issue. Within 10 mins we found the source of the smell behind the fridge. Seriously. Someone had pissed there!! After calling the manager a cleaner was sent over staright away and the mess was cleaned. Thankfully when we got back from the possum night run the smell had pretty much gone. Overall the chalet suited our needs, but it really needs a make over - a decent clean on the outside and some paint. And maybe some new cleaners.

Awesome staff

There was clearly mould in the rooms especially the front door and hidden by the curtain, in one of the spa rooms, there was a round iron table which was rusted and had a sharp bit sticking out, to which my daughter cut herself when getting into the spa, which resulted us in going to the ED.

The cabin was really cute and cozy. Staff were amazing and filled me request to have a banner up on arrival. The toilet was dirty and had poo under the seat and the floor leading to the toilet is a tripping hazard as we both tripped and fell twice.

Plesantly surprised with this accomodation, the isite centre was concerned about the accommodation. We were pleasantly surprise, it was clean and tidy. From the outside it looks like it needs love, BUT we couldnt complain about the chalet.

Nice location and worth its price. I checked in late and went only to sleep so did not have interaction with staff. But staff was prepared for my arrival and had everything in place to avoid any inconvenience

This is a great value property if you aren't too fussy on outside appearances. Room is fine pretty spacious kids love the mezzanine. Super quiet spot away from traffic with heaps of parking which was great with a large trailer.

Pleasantly surprised after seeing the main building!

This place is outdated, run down and walls needed wiping and painting. the spa is not onsite but rather council property with no lighting to show you the way at night. the spa is an attraction for the public run by the council. for some reason other people kept parking in the park outside my unit. I had to find parking three units down where there was no car. The beds were hard as rock so sleep was not great. there was nothing to heat food up in the microwave other than dinner plates so bought a second hand pyrex dish to heat our food and we left it there for the next people to use.

Love that we can have our dog stay and there are lots of great walks from the property. Nice and quiet, we enjoyed our stay. good value.

The staff were very kind and respectful. I found the furniture have not been wiped or cleaned. Could see the dust and dirt. Need to focus on maintenance and cleanliness.

Chalets great -, kids upstairs and seperate main bedroom - spa bath area was a win with the kids - shower was great - buildings a tad tired anhestpump was fantastic

The property seemed good value when I booked it, and we were looking forward to what I thought was an outdoor thermal pool. The image of the pool is not a thermal pool. The chalets look very run down from the exterior. The walls are very thin. The interior is ok, some holes in the walls, and the shower was in slight disrepair. It was cheap and the price reflects this. The chalets are in a run down sort of area and I would not want any vulnerable people staying there as it did not feel all that safe. We arrived to see our neighbours smoking and drinking beers and looking a bit worse for wear on the shared deck area. Staff were friendly, and everything was clean and tidy.

I enjoyed staying there. I thought there was meant to be a hairdryer in the room. Outdoor lighting could have been better, maybe some solar lights with sensors

Everything was great, nice bed, quiet area and clean chalet. Would certainly recommend for a cheap option!

We loved the area, with a walk to hot pools and river bathing, and close to Taupo itself. The site is of historical interest, rough around the edges, but fascinating. The chalet had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. Excellent value for money.

The first impression not good, they can really fix the road and the outside. When you arrive looks like you back in the 1930. The room was clean but no soap in the bathroom.

The overall look of the exterior i absolutely loved! Such awesomr history and character. The beds were nicely presented and comfortable but everything else was just gross. So dusty, mouldy and filthy. I was going to pull put the fridge/freezer to let it defrost but i was worried about what id find back there.. we didn't use the shower as it was grotty and mouldy. Dust grime amd mould on all the windows and doors. Staff were great calling us to let us know the reception would close soon so left out a key. However anyone could have accessed that box with no security.

We liked the rustic look of the buildings and loved the location. Our unit was homely. We noticed these things needed repair in it: tiles in bathroom missing, bathroom lock didn't work, fridge door damaging carpet (we put cardboard under front to lift it). It would make a huge difference to overall appearance of place if weed eating up to date, gardens done and fence tidy, (and, if money allowed, general maintenance of buildings)

My family and I had an overall excellent experience. Grandeur motel boasts of exquisite views and beautiful historic buildings! Loved it thank you so much I will definitely visit again.
