Typical older french converted mansion E.g. no lift

The staff accommodated our need to leave early the next morning by moving our car to a spot to make it easy to leave. The room and bathroom were extremely small. We found restaurants but had difficulty finding one where you didn’t need reservations. We had only arrived in town a few hours earlier so had no time to research restaurants. One restaurant manager took pity on us and 3 other parties and we had a great dinner.

This place was adorable and a few minutes from town. has a charming romantic older hotel feel. The room was bigger than expected.

Centrally located and well presented but falls short on a few things, no lift, no tea/coffee, no mini fridge. You have to leave your room key on a board in the foyer where anyone could have access. You have to leave your car key in reception within minutes they had moved our car, if they had wanted it moved I'd have moved it happily, and in times of covid we weren't impressed. The parking is charged at €12 I think a night.

Overall it was a good stay

Nice hotel with friendly staff. Courtyard used for onsite parking. Really close to main square and all Angers attractions well within walking distance. On a quiet road with no noise from the lively town square just 3 mins walk away. Decor in the room was quirky and fun. The water pressure was a little low and it took quite a while to get hot in the shower but overall a good bathroom. Worth noting the property does not have a lift so some people may struggle to get their bags up the spiral stairs to the rooms although not a problem for us. We would gladly return if in Angers again.

Lovely hotel - the owners were so helpful - easy walking distance to city centre sights and restaurants. The hotel has parking so this was a great help. Really nice breakfast - well worth the visit.

Very comfortable

Room 1 was fantastic, very large and very clean. It’s clearly the modernised part of the hotel and we had our own entrance without needing to go through the hotel We were greeted on arrival and directed where to park our car . All staff were lovely throughout our stay. We didn’t have breakfast but I thought the room was great value for money .

Very pleasant stay in every way

Excellent location, two minutes walk to centre. Parking a real bonus. Tastefully decorated room, although a little small and lacking tea and coffee facilities. Although I am sure we could have borrowed a kettle. Fabulous staircase. Would stay again.

In the town centre with parking and excellent staff

The Hotel du Mail is on a quiet lane just off a busy main street of Angers. It's an updated 19th century mansion with lots of detail and charm including a grand staircase. The room I stayed in looks to have been recently decorated and was very attractive. The new, modern bathroom was more functional than charming but had a good shower. The Wifi signal was excellent. The hotel staff were helpful and welcoming and offered a nice breakfast. I would certainly stay here again for its comfort and that it is a 12 minute walk from Angers St Laud train station.

Hotel was in a lovely old building which had been tastefully restored. Very friendly and helpful staff and excellent breakfast made this stopover in Angers an event in itself.

free parking available, good location, clean, comfortable beds, rooms updated but halls stairways could use work. No lift so if you have heavy luggage be aware you will need to carry it upstairs.

Our ground floor room was very pleasant and spacious, much bigger than an upper level room occupied by our travelling companions. The bathroom had been very recently renovated and the shower was wonderful. The front desk was very friendly. The breakfast room had a nice ambience and a well-presented buffet offering a variety of breads, pastries, fruits, cheeses, jams, cereals and more. On the down side, the pillows were small and lumpy, but I am fussy about pillows. Our travelling companions didn't mind. I had some trouble sleeping due to noise and lights in the courtyards but later realized there were shutters that could be closed by pressing a button! The room does not have a safe or coffee and tea facilities.

This is a family run business and it feels like it: the staff are friendly, helpful, pleasant and happy to see you! The location could not be better for a city break in Angers. The main square is a two minute walk away yet the hotel feels quiet and secluded. All the main attractions are within easy walking distance. The breakfast is by far the best continental breakfast I have ever had. Eleven euros may seem at the top end but it is value for money if you like a substantial and good quality breakfast. Plus it will cost you at least that for just a coffee and croissant at the cafés in the centre of town. The room was clean and sufficient for our three night stay, and the shower was powerful and roomy despite being on the top floor of this beautiful old building. I would definitely stay here again if I returned to Angers.
