Overall, my stay was good and hotel is conveniently located.
However, the front desk failed to provide me with any receipt/invoice for my stay.
I was told that I receive it via email, but that never happened. I tried to contact reservations several times via email or telephone, but they never answered. Even hotels.com tried to get in touch with them but also failed. I don’t know what to do since I need the invoice to expense my stay. Never had such behavior from a hotel like this before.

Wonderful unique inn stay. The inn is a restored mansion and it's really fancy inside.
But it's not a hotel. It's an Inn.
The art and the interior layout and the furnishings in the rooms is like stepping back in time, to a more luxurious period.
It's got a lot of charm and character and I for one would stay here again.
The not so good :
Wifi didn't reach the room we stayed in.
No in room fridge or phone.
Concierge is part time (it is an Inn and not a hotel after all).
Continental breakfast only.
It is an old (incredibly well restored) mansion. The walls and floors are thin.... And people stay for a night or two like in a hotel.
Sometimes people are extra friendly when they stay in a hotel room.
The walls are very thin and not sound insulated.

I will say this, compared to the “three hots and a cot” most people in Detroit are probably used to this place may seem like an upgrade. Upon entering our room we were greeted with a double bed not a queen; hair on the bed- like A HAIR strands of hair. A rug that was dirty and had not been washed in ages, hair in the shower drain, hair clippings in the sink, as well as tile falling off the tub surround. We were told the property was sold out and we could not change rooms. We were also told that several of the issues we brought up- the cleanliness and the shower issues would be resolved when we returned from
Dinner. And of course THEY WERE NOT FIXED. They claimed they did; maybe they cleaned the wrong room? They had so many vacancies I can understand how they would've made the mistake with it being so empty.
The parking lot had 3 total
Vehicles so the property was not sold out. We were repeatedly told this is a queen bed despite putting a measuring tape on it and illustrating the measurements matched what Google said a double bed size was; and several Amazon links for double mattresses. I am 5’10 255 she is 6’1 170 so a double isn’t working. After realizing we would not be accommodating we left shortly after midnight and found other accommodations

This is a fun experience for couples or solo travelers. The rooms in this 19th-century home are cozy and comfortable. Guests have access to common living spaces and a kitchen. After exploring Detroit each day, reading and sipping tea in the front room, complete with period furniture, was very relaxing. It's a short walk to downtown and the various sports complexes. The staff were friendly and helpful.
One minor quibble: They don't answer email or "contact us" forms on their website. If you have a question, you have to call.

Charged me for two rooms when my reservation AND receipt say one room. Told me I had to cancel the room with 72 hours…. Explain to me how I can cancel a reservation I didn’t even know I had?
The house itself is beautiful, but the staff is so uninformed and rude.

was not the best place to stay. Especially for the price. The only really good thing was location. But room was kind of dirty, shower missing tiles, and the walls are SUPER thin so you hear everyone/ everything. And whatever you do, DO NOT lose your room key. Its hundreds of dollars to replace. Also, you have to pay $25 just to park in the lot connected to it. If not, your on the street.

The staff was super awesome. I loved this place. I wish that it had a thermostat in the room to cool off our room at night.

The charm of the hotel was amazing. The antiques in the hotel room added to the uniquness. Staff was friendly and helpful. We did miss breakfast so cannot comment on that. Very convenient location to downtown.

Very comfortable inn, very quiet rooms with great period details. My bathroom was quite luxurious. Attentive staff, plenty of restaurants within walking distance

Enjoyed the ambience. Staff friendliness.
Continental breakfast could start earlier.
An additional sleeper accomodation for rooms would be nice, at least a full sofa versus a settee

Loved this historical property and the ambiance. Also the location is perfect for happenings in Detroit.

The property itself is unique and each room is different from the others, this makes it feel less institutionalized and more personal. Would definitely stay here again

Lovely Inn in a beautifully restored home!

Everything was excellent. My one complaint was the breakfast; its was worse than what's offered at a hampton inn. A great B&B has a catered breakfast with hot main courses etc. served at a specific time when all the guests can meet at the breakfast table and discuss their trip, where they are from, other trips they've taken etc. Only meet one other couple.

It was very nice and sweet experience.

While the Inn can use some TLC, I liked the vibe of it. It was quiet and basically across the street from the arena. The check-in and out was smooth, the public areas were nice and upkept. There is a cozy vibe to the Inn. The room could use a bit more cleaning. I happen to look under the bed while I was stretching and it was fifthly. Needed vacuuming. Also, many of the corners and other little spaces needed dusting. Also, a plug by the bed would be nice to have. The bed was kind of squeaky. Can tell the frame is a little older. The little loveseat in the room was kind of questionable as far as clean. It was very faded and had some stains on it. Can tell it was an antique seat, but needed some upkeep. The continental breakfast was an added bonus.
Overall, the stay was fine and I'd stay there again, but would bring some of my own cleaning stuff in the future.

The Inn is a fantastic stay in a beautiful historic mansion. We were beyond thrilled with the experience, and the breakfast was lovely fresh food too. Also the convenience of its proximity to event spaces was great. Everything was easily walkable and in a clean and safe feeling area of Detroit.
We will definitely be back.

No air conditioning controls inside the room. 1 out of the 4 table lamps worked. Bathroom room/ only one bulb out of the 5 lights worked over the sink, no tissue, had to ask for toilet paper because their was a small amount on roll when we arrived.
The room was dusty and rug needed to be cleaned

Great unique bed & breakfast in the heart of Detroit. Walkable to sports arenas and bars/restaurants. Love the renovated old world charm of the house.

97 Winder is a classic old mansion with dozens of rooms -- kitchen, sitting rooms, bedrooms -- that are furnished with Edwardian-era antiques. Very charming. The bedrooms have 12' ceilings and remodeled en-suite bathrooms. However, it is located in a marginal area of downtown Detroit. I didn't have any issues with that, I wanted to be close to Comerica Park, but the area is very urban. My only head-scratcher was arriving at 3:30pm for check-in only to be told to come back at 4pm or face a $50 surcharge. There truly is a first time for everything folks -- I get early check-in as a courtesy a dozen times a year but this is not a Hilton and that is part of its charm. Still recommend for an easy walk to the stadiums or downtown Detroit.

The Inn is super really nice for our trip to Ford field…8 minute walk at the most. Super convenient.

Beautiful old mansion that had old time charm but a clean more modern feel. Staff were friendlier in person than on the phone. Towels were thin and shower was luke warm. Our room was very cold with the air conditioning but she couldn’t make it warmer because it would affect the temperature in a nearby room that complained it was too hot. However she had a space heater which we used on a hot day in June!. 5-10 minute walk to Comerica Park. Probably the same distance to the LCA. We enjoyed playing games with our friends in the beautiful dining room and admiring the unique decor. Bed was great. Would stay here again. Close to the Q line.

This was our 2nd time staying here and it did not disappoint! The place is beautiful and full of history, staff is amazing and breakfast in the AM is the icing on the cake.
Walking distance to all 3 Detroit stadiums and 2 theaters. We feel safe in this area and will continue to book here when we travel to this area. BRAVO!!!!!!

We felt a little deceived by the pictures of the rooms at the hotel. Our room was nothing like the pictures at all. A little run down. It is a great location and we enjoyed our stay.
