This is a beautifully atmospheric hotel that, for us, more than lived up to its reputation. It was my fiancée's birthday, and we were generously upgrade to a wonderful suite with spectacular river views. Gorgeous roses, chocolates and a birthday cake added the perfect finishing touch. The staff were all extremely professional and friendly throughout - especially Mr Danny Hu, who warmly welcomed us and introduced us to our suite, bringing a real personalised feel to our stay. Finally, breakfast in the impressive lobby was luxurious with excellent service.

Unfortunately, our meal at the Michelin-starred Yi Long Court was very disappointing. Although the service was good and the environment pleasant, the food was overall quite bland and uninteresting, especially given the high prices. It's no exaggeration to say we've eaten far better Cantonese (or any) food at simple street-side places, which is quite shocking. I really couldn't recommend it, and wish I had chosen to book a table in the lobby instead. It was also a pity the other restaurants and bars were all closed, presumably because of COVID-19.

Everything! The hotel is stunning. the facilities are wonderful from the rooms to the fitness and swimming centre. We stayed here twice last year, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. Celebrating our tenth wedding anniversary at the Peninsula will always be such a special memory. Our room was upgraded, we were given a beautiful personalised gift as a memento of our anniversary and the Peninsula. The dinner in Elys Willy was out of this world! We also stayed again over the Christmas holidays and it was fabulous. This will always be our favourite hotel in Shanghai. We look forward to staying here again in the future! Thank you for the lovely memories.

Room setting and atmosphere

Breakfast at the 13th floor. Not organized. Not clean. The food selection is worse than most of the good hotels. The manager and staff asking for bill which I have already paid for the package. They promised to give us complimentary gift but at the end it never came.

Location is perfect, facility are up to date with classic taste of this brand. Kids enjoyed the Bund view and we opened a bottle of champagne!

2 small issues to point out. We had agreed with front desk to have our bags picked up at 6.30am but weren’t and had to remind them. Other issue was we didn’t like the way the front desk supervisor was chastising the more junior team member when dealing with our check out. Seemed too strong, belittling and unsophisticated. Other than that we loved the stay.

Peninsula is always my top choice for a leisure trip. The location, service, and spa make me love this property from deep inside. I’d like to call it a home away from home.
