With a rich history dating back to the 16th century, this Grade II-listed house offers a peaceful retreat in the Suffolk countryside. Sleeping eight guests in four characterful bedrooms, this dog-friendly property blends historic charm with contemporary comforts for a truly magical stay. Nestled in the hamlet of Stoven, it’s perfectly placed for exploring the nature, history and landscapes of this delightful part of the Suffolk coast and countryside.
Set within an acre of mature gardens, this three-storey cottage radiates warmth and charm. Its interior is a tapestry of exposed beams, oak floors and grand inglenook fireplaces, bathed in a warm glow from the mullioned oak windows. Shrug off coats and shoes in the porch before heading into the cosy lounge. With its timber-beamed floor and walls, a wood burner set in an inglenook fireplace, and a large corner sofa, this room invites evenings of tales and laughter. The kitchen is a dream for keen cooks with a double range oven and state-of-the-art appliances, while the formal dining room provides the perfect backdrop to memorable mealtimes. Sleeping arrangements comprise four spacious bedrooms divided between the first and second floors. Take your pick from two super-king-size bedrooms on the first floor, one of which has a luxurious en-suite bathroom with a large walk-in shower and double vanity unit. On this floor, you will also find a beautifully appointed bathroom with a free-standing stone bath. There is another super-king-size plus a twin on the second floor, along with a family shower room. There’s plenty to keep you occupied in the grounds too, with a BBQ and an outdoor dining area, an outdoor tennis court, and a study/studio should you need a little peace and quiet.
The traditional seaside town of Southwold (5 miles) serves up a selection of independent shops and eateries and is home to the famous Adnams Brewery.
