Its location. Its history. The restaurants.
This property now is something called Seleqtions ( managed by Taj - which means it is not owned by Taj) . Here is a brief summary of what we didn’t like 1. Check in took forever, the girl at reception was surly and slow. 2. No mini stock of spirits. 3 No shampoo in the bathroom. 4 Single ply toilet paper ( signs of cost cutting ?) 4. Biotique shower gel ( a big brand in the 90s - pedestrian.
It has all the hallmarks of a once great hotel sliding into middle class value obscurity. I knew the man who launched The Taj President , the late great Mr. Xerxes Desai who must be spinning in his grave. Rename name Regal International or Seaside Grand or some such and you attract your true audience, the cost conscious business traveller looking for value beyond the Gingers and Oyos of this world. And who ran your brand design project made a ton of money and left you a mess eg: why Paathiya? Why create concepts that absolutely mean nothing? Other than Tamil speaking customers for whom it means : Did you see? And indeed we did.As someone who lived in the the Presedent in the 90’s, we see the President, this ain’t!

Good breakfast, very clean rooms, nice atmosphere within the hotel, friendly staff, particularly those who were managing breakfast, great location, timely service.
You pay through your nose for the good service you get.

Security, clean, polite staff, good smell inside, a variety of restaurants in the hotel.
A maintenance work from 9am to 7pm. It was very loud in the room during that time. And some staff insisted on a review with their name on it, seemed a little bit too much.

ستائر الغرف لا تحجب النور وطريقتها ليست جيده ولا توجد قنوات عربيه ويوجد نقص فى الافطار لا يوجد لنا نحن العرب اكل غير البيض وطلبت من موظف الاستقبال الغاء الافطار رفض وقال راجع وكيلك وتقصد بوكينج لذا من الان سوف اوقف تعاملى مع بوكينج.

Location is well placed as I had work in neighboring Maker Tower. Rooms are recently renovated and they are bright but toiletries needs to be improved. Breakfast as usual was nice esp. hot items and whole spread I cherished. Thanks !!! Other restaurants like Thai & South Indian and 'Wink' bar were great, keep it up.

موظفي الاستقبال جدا متعاونين وكذلك خدمة تنظيف الغرف ولكن يجب الاهتمام بتثقيف موظفي المطاعم على حفاوة استقبال المضيف ولابتسام في وجهه نزيل الفندق كما يجب الاهتمام بان يكون بوفيه الإفطار متنوع بالنسبة للجاليات الأخرى الغير هندية وان يكون الطعام فرش كالأجبان والمعجنات والسلطات
بعض موظفي المطعم الهندي والمطعم الإيطالي غير بشوشين ومتذمرين

Upon Arrival the front desk staff were pleasant and so welcoming serving us welcoming cold drinks . A Big thanks to Mr Priyanshu who upgraded our room to premium one at no extra costs and gave us a late checkout. A fantastic room seafacing view from the 14th Floor.
This Hotel is centrally situated , easy accessible close to Colaba Causeway Shopping Paradise , India Gate and The Taj Palace Hotel. The daily buffet breakfast was fantastic , with a very excellent selection of dishes .The waiters in the restaurant were great always helpful and serving us with a smile.
We would like to commend and send our special thanks to the front desk and reception staff., Mr Priayanshu , Miss Prapti,, Miss Almaya , Miss Sumaira, Miss Dipti, Mr Yash , Ms Shaiza, Mr Mantha and Mr Soham , you all have made our stay a memorable and enjoyable one and very helpful.
Not forgetting the Porters, security Staff and the lifesaver at the pool . Mr Sanjeev. Thank you.
The current construction work in front of the Hotel , which spoils the complete appearance of the hotel.

Service is very good. Friendly staff for everyday service, but there is completely no reaction to complaints and when something goes wrong.
All our group got food poisoning in the Tratoria restaurant. During our stay we ate nowhere but in hotel restaurant. After our complaint at reception on this there was completely no reaction from the staff on this issue. Be careful!

Check in was very slow. I asked for a newer room. Changed three rooms yet they were not upto standard. It’s not the first time I am staying and I know there are some floors with better rooms. All I was told at check in was that I booked a basic room. I paid more to upgrade but the room was as bad . How would I know what the rooms look like in each category since pictures do not show up category wise. They all look fine online.

this is one of the best hotels to stay in Mumbai. even arranged for a doctor when we got sick, and offered to send meds to the room. out of courtesy, they sent us vitamin juices and rehidrate.

Size of room could be bigger. Current one can feel a bit cluttered.
New coffee mugs in room are smaller than older stock.
Getting laundry done in hotel can be quite expensive.
