Stairway to the sleeping loft was a bit tricky, but doable.

The breakfast was adequate. Because of Covid restrictions the materials were all pre-packaged and as a result were not totally fresh. However, it was acceptable and there was enough to get the day started. Our hosts were excellent, friendly, helpful and very personable. The accommodation was unique, quirky, well located and immaculately clean. They went out of their way to meet us when we got lost in Matera, and guided us skilfully to their accommodation.

As referred to above the COVID precautions necessitated the delivery of pre-packaged material, all of which was adequate, but no more, as a breakfast. It would have been substantially improved with a good, comfortable settee and armchairs. The one provided was convertible to a bed, but not comfortable on which to spend more than a brief time.

Guiseppe, the host, was super friendly and welcoming, gave us a lot of tips for a perfect weekend in Matera. Its nice to meet people who are so passionate about their home town. Location is fantastic and the appartment is clean and spaciois

If you’re reading this review, take it from us and book this place immediately! You won’t regret it at all. Staying inside a sassi is an incredibly unique experience and as an added bonus, the space was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated, incorporating modern conveniences into the natural design of the cave home. And to add to that, the host Giuseppe is as good as they get, giving us a thorough and detailed explanation of what to do and see in the city on our short stay. The pictures don’t do it justice and we highly recommend staying here and I know we’ll be back!

The place is amazing and full of history. Whilst the place has been completely and marvellously refurbished some of the original features of the cave dwelling have been maintained. You'll have all the comforts whilst enjoying the history of the Sassi. The room is cosy and comfortable. It is only 5.minutes walk from the centre. Our host was incredibly welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. She explained a bit of the history of the premises we were staying in and then gave us very good tips as to how to organize our sightseeing tour. Top marks from us for Ai Sassi di Pietro

Excellent location int the old city and close to beautiful view for whole old city. Very supportive owners helping to book parking place and with many stories about city, history and apartment. Beautiful apartment with two floors and very comfortable for family 2+2.

The property appeared to be lovely, very conveniently located in the ancient part of Matera, yet accessible by car. The interior was cost and elegant at the same time, perfectly equipped with everything one might need and it was very romantic. Our hosts were our best guides, too. There was an excellent breakfast with fresh products in the house and our hosts even gave us a package of the delicious local pasta as a gift.
