Homely hotel with character. Staff were all welcoming and helpful. Clean and comfortable

Tea was only just warm at breakfast.

Excellent food, with exceptional dinner meals, notably “catch of the day” fish. Well presented beer and wine, with sunny garden terrace on which to drink! Friendly, helpful staff.

Everything about our stay was excellent from check in to check out. We enjoyed sitting and having a drink in the bar before going out for an evening meal. The little touches in the room were lovely. The staff were friendly and approachable. Breakfast was lovely before going out for the day. The location allowed for us to walk out for an evening meal into the center of the village and then for a morning walk before checking out.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike about the hotel and our stay.

The room is spacious and very clean. The dinner and the breakfast is good. The staffs are friendly and helpful.

Staff are very nice. Food served in breakfast and in their restaurant were of very good quality.

The flush in the room was bit difficult to use. A bit more fresh look of the room would have been better.

The property is in an excellent location within drivable distance to the beach and other towns. The interior is very lovely with the big wooden stairs . Very comfortable room with all amenities

A bit tatty...😳 Empty or dead flower boxes at front, what could be a lovely back garden for residents is largely untended., and at the entrance the 4 star AA sign is filthy....for goodness sake, give it a wipe!

The outdated room, outdated furniture, cracked walls, toilet not flushing properly,mould on the window seals,cold room overall, noisy floors and beds,rusty sinkhole.,stains on the carpet and bathroom,no phone in the room,no chairs in the room,a very small TV (probably 22"), the windows had not safety on them (should not open that wide -danger of accidents) Breakfast was just okay, except for the French toast which is actually some toasted brioche bread instead of the classical "French toast"(my daughter didn't enjoy that) We've been shown to a room with only one double bed first and than changed to a family room as we've paid and requested?! It's probably the worst 4 Star hotel I've stayed ever.

No heating in bedroom. Problem with curtains closing. Arrogant attitude of one staff member.

Birdham was a great location, room was comfortable, a good size and had a lovely bath and shower. We had dinner downstairs which was booked for us. Staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast had a very varied menu a mixture of continental and cooked items.

When the place was busy service was slow due to amount of staff and staff having to cover bar as well as checking in's. Parking was a bit restricted on a busy Saturday night. Luckily we left our car there and walked to other restaurants or when you needed to go out.

Staff were very helpful . I would not consider the room we had to be a 'superior' king-size room, (we had enough room to walk around the outside of our bed.) However, it is a beautiful old building and the hotel rooms seem to be in the process of refurbishment. Our room was above the bar area, but it did not affect our sleep. Good tea/coffee making facilities with added biscuits & sweets. Breakfast was very nice - with a good range of choice on the menu. The location was ideal for us. Bembridge is a pretty little village.

There was a very strong smell of paint in the upper floor room, where the room opposite was being upgraded. We were moved very quickly with no fuss made when we pointed this out. The room we were moved to was not of the same standard, and initially, we had a problem with the heating, which was quickly sorted. I have recently had a hip replacement, so climbing into a high bath to shower was not ideal. That said, the shower was lovely, the water hot, and the towels were a great size and comfort.
