The property was beautiful. Very spacious and clean. The staff were amazing and the breakfast was very good. Very chilled and relaxing.

The breakfast was delicious. There was many options to choose from and the home made bread was not to miss. Paulette was so generous she prepared baguettes especially for us to take home when we were leaving... plus her famous Belgian waffles. The staff was very friendly and always ready to help. The room was spacious and clean with a huge terrace and beautiful view from the Indian ocean. There were sun beds on the terrace and a sofa . The bed was comfortable and the shower strong and pleasant.
What we liked most was the dinner time around the table with the other guests of the hotel with Paullette's delicious meals, the talks and the stories we shared with the other guests and the host Paullette. We felt like home away from home.
If you like spending time on the beach this is probably not he best place. The kids from the village followed us around, demanding money and things from us, like my hair clip and earrings. We have been to many places in Zanzibar, we are well aware of the living of the locals and they are really nice and genuine people but for the first time we were so much disturbed on the beach.
The place was a bit isolate, no shops or activities around but it did not bother us as we had a car and was able to move around.

1. There were ants in the bed.
2. After arriving we were informed we could use the air conditioning only after 7pm. This was changed when we complained about the ants in the bed.
3. The water pump/ pressure was shut off after 9pm. So no water to shower in the night.
4. You have to notify them about dinner way in advance. We were told the kitchen was shut once when we asked for food and the second time when we asked for dinner in the afternoon we were told the dinner was already filled and there was no more room.
5. The owners upon us seeing us check out, 4 days earlier than we intended, did not even ask us about our stay or our reason for leaving. It was only about the contract and them making their money. There was absolutely no hospitality at this property.
We got no refund and chose to leave without even bringing it up again. Even though the above things are not mentioned in their booking page. The first time we asked for a refund they kept showing us the contract from the website. And said atleast if we stay we can use the air conditioning all day(wow). I signed the contract on the basis that we get a air conditioned room, water to shower with and a clean bed. Not a ant infested bed.
Their answer was “this is Africa”. I have travelled in Africa before and stayed on a ground floor and never had ants in the bed. I am highly allergic to insect bites which I informed them of. They did not even offer to move us to another room. Maybe the first night they didn’t have availability but I could see they did have rooms available after that.
I have travelled a lot and stayed at a lot of places, from Airbnb and booking.com and unfortunately this was my most disappointing travel experience ever. As well as my first negative review.
Luckily the neighbouring property was extremely hospitable and served us a meal at 11 o clock in the night and included us in their NYE celebrations.

The villa is good, the staff is good, strong wi fi
poor and dirty beach, too many local people due to the village next to the villa

Amazing stay! Everything was perfect: beautiful rooms, clean, modern, relaxing and cozy common areas for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Very friendly and welcoming owners: we felt like we were at home!
Food was exceptional! And finally a very good location, on a nice white sand beach where you can spend hours just watching activities of the locals from the village, the fish market being very close by, you see the fishermen life.
In short, many thanks Paulette and Didier for making our stay unforgettable.

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Victor. We even had our private pool and beach entrance. Along the beach there were several nice restaurants and local tour providers. Our highlight was the breakfast with home made bread, fresh juices and an amazing sea view. The staff is very friendly.
It would have been good to inform the guests in advance that for credit card payment there is a 5% charge on top.

Very lovely place with spacious and beautifully designed villas. The hosts and staff were very friendly too.. If you're looking for a nice place with some peace and quiet. Look no further. Also.. If you love cats, you will have great company. The cats are friendly and don't bother you, they like taking naps.

Beautiful house, very nicely decorated, very clean, nicely furnished, amazing sea view with direct beach access, good food.
Pool is very small, wifi is slow. Host was very rude, can't even mention it publicly. Toilet was lacking water, the bathroom always had a wet floor.

Great location for relaxing, beach access, boats to snorkelling island, service and food quality. There are a few restaurants within walking distance for variation. Locals friendly and we’re not bothersome. Cleanliness of villa and quality furnishings

Paulette is a world class chef and her boutique hotel had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Neema, the concierge, was able to fulfill every request my mother had from washcloths to ice to laundry to her dietary needs. The guests are all lovely and easy. We had a marvelous time relaxing in the pool and reading on the beach.

The staff was super friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The fresh breakfast spread served every morning was delicious and exceptional, and conversations with other guests and the owners were fun and memorable. It was a great time and experience.
I would have liked to know in advance the water in the bathrooms would be shut off after 10 PM, and the AC would be off in the middle of the day. I did not have running water to shower after a hot night out or use the toilet at night diminished what could have been an exceptional experience.

Everything was perfect. The views are amazing. The host Paul is sweet and so welcoming. I felt like I was home. She is also a chef and prepare some of the best meals I’ve had by far in Zanzibar. The rooms all had beautiful decor.

Location is extremely good.
The breakfast served was quite balanced and most importantly customized.
Additionally we got great comfort in the warm company of Paulette, Denial, Nema, Juma and off course amazing cook. The owners of the property never allowed us to feel that WE ARE NOT AT HOME.
Strongly suggest to install the fly catchers especially in the dining room.
Other small things we can definately ignore against the hospitality.

Well decorated rooms. Cleaning everyday. Good breakfast.
My husband and I felt out of place most of the time. Most of the reviews here really raised our expectations. Internet was bad. Then the air conditioning! Nothing prepared us for it. We have to go out of our room to prompt Nema(she’s the main person who interacted with us) to turn it on from a central switch. And often, after a long day, you just want to shower and sleep without these extra issues. The road leading to this hotel is deplorable.
We were called about an emergency at home that required us to cut short our trip. Fortunately we managed to get it resolved BUT during the period when we were frantic and desperate for a way out, we had absolutely no help from this hotel. They even said there’ll be no refund at all. Hotel policy, so beware! And not even a soul at the hotel asked us about what happened the following day.
It would have just been kind of them to ask us the details of what happened and if everything was okay now. Nope. Everyone just goes about their day. Then we receive a text from them on the eve of our checkout to remember to leave a review.

Exceptional Food with the resident Chef a specialist and a great property location. The Villa is an ideal relaxation and chill out spot. If you want to unwind and rest, this is an ideal location.
The staff, especially Naeema were exceptional. The surrounding beach was beautiful and the Villa service wonderful. A few good restaurants in the vicinity to expand your eating out options.
The daily municipal/government tax is a bit exorbitant for the local infrastructure offer; not the property’s fault though. For the adventure traveller, the distance from major activities is a bit far off.

Villa de Victor is special and we had an amazing stay there! The place is cozy, amazingly located on the long sandy beach of Matemwe, and beautifully designed. Paulette and Didier guarantee sheer warmth and hospitality and their food is an absolute plus, truly delicious!
If you are looking for a quiet spot on the island, this is definitely the place to be; highly recommended!

amazing breakfast, superfriendly and attentive staff - Nema is a gem! - dinner was also excellent, hosts Pauline and Didier are super nice and everybody is helpful and friendly. The room was large and furnished with a lot of taste and style, large bathroom.
Feels like home away from home :-)
Thanks for everything - Barbara&Timo
lights in bathroom could be better, sometimes power outage but that is a general problem in Zanzibar

The accommodations are beautiful and spacious. The beach is marvelous. The white sand is dreamy to feel, walk on and see. At night, the fisherman park their boats out in the water a bit from shore and they look so picturesque. The hosts, Didier and Paulette Victor, are great hosts. They speak French, Swahili and English. We enjoyed getting to know them. The main customer service worker and dining room server, we forget her name at the moment, was so polite, delightful and had a good sense of humour. We recommend the day trip to Mnemba Island for snorkeling or diving. They pick you up on the beach outside your hotel. The water is a crazy gorgeous color, and there's a nice variety of fish, especially by the rocky inter-tidal.

Beautiful rooms in this small hotel on a beautiful beach. The staff was very friendly and helped us with anything we needed including printing documents for travel, booking a snorkeling tour, or arranging for transport to Stonetown or the airport. Rooms had air conditioning for night which was definitely needed. Good running hot and cold water.
It was very isolated so if you wanted to walk around or go into town that wasn't possible without a car. Pool became cloudy as we stayed which made me wonder if they were keeping up to date on the chemicals and cleaning of the pool. I never saw anyone testing the water or cleaning it. Limited shade space near pool or beach. If you were not staying in the two rooms located beside the pool there was no shade where you could relax.

Owner is amazing woman and chef! Dinners were perfect, when all guests gathered together. Rooms are very stylish and comfortable. And very clean!
You should be aware that location is in the middle of village with many locals. Some of them use ocean as a toilet, as well as cows( During low water even with high tides it is difficult to swim - it was near 1 m depth.
We didn't like our room with balcony and no sea view, better ask for another. As for me, on the first floor are two the best.We also had very weak water pressure in the shower.

We were not able to switch on the ac during the day.
