This place is up on the mountains and has beautiful view, clean, nice and quiet. Temple near by (walking distance) is beautiful and must visit. Food is excellent both breakfast & dinner. private onsen in our room patio
1. there were no shower in our room, very inconvenient
2. the place is a little outdated

Was exactly what we needed. A gorgeous, incredibly relaxing experience after walking a ton for a week. The staff was incredible and dis their best to ensure we were comfortable. Would absolutely recommend for the ryokan experience and a good day/night of relaxation

The room was fairly big, and the view was amazing. The welcome tea and cookie were a nice touch, and the dinner was exquisite! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The complimentary wine after dinner was a nice touch. The breakfast was also very good and the server spoke English well and explained what everything was. All in all, this place is one I would recommend, but with one (rather important) exception which was that the onsen bath water was not hot. The night we arrived, we noticed that it felt not like usual Japanese bath water temperatures, and in the morning it was barely warm. This was so disappointing, so the Japanese woman in our group asked the front desk workers about it. They seemed surprised at first and almost seemed to not believe her (since no other guest had mentioned it), but upon check out, it had been checked, and we were given the explanation that the boiler had broken the night before and that is why the water wasn't hot.
The bath was very disappointing. The water, especially on the morning we departed, was not hot. We were told that the onsen water wasn't hot because of a broken boiler from the night we arrived. This was disappointing not only because we had an unsatisfactory bath experience, but also because the staff (the owner?) didn't seem to realize or care that a main reason we chose this ryokan was for an onsen experience, and she only apologized and didn't offer anything other than that. Even a token gesture of offering us another cookie would have been welcomed rather than just "I'm sorry. Shoganai." I don't think that is the kind of customer service that is expected at a rather expensive ryokan, and especially in Japan.

It is the most luxurious ryokan we visited, although the house is not particularly ancient or beautiful, the rooms are very big with a wonderful view on the wood. The food is very elaborated, a level of Japanese food you may get in five stars restaurant.
Communication may get a little complicated, expecially if you have specific food request, or if you want to get information prior to your arrival. It is a bit too expensive, especially if you compare it with other ryokan, on the other side it does not have the usual ryokan problems: is never cold, the view is amazing.

Excellent location, just next to many beautiful Shrins and Temples, but far away from everything else. Perfect place to rest, switch off and enjoy the nature.
Very good breakfast and dinner, with very traditional way of cooking.
The shared Japanese style bath is something not to miss, and even kids are allowed to join.
Communication is not easy, even though they try their best.
The building looks very bad from outside, except for the entrance, it is quite old but well maintained; although the windows and doors would need some work, as during night when we had bigger wind, it was simply coming though the whole room, from the balcony door to the room door, just crossing our bed.
