The staff was extremely accommodating! With it being my first time in Johannesburg they organized for a driver to pick me up from the airport, which I highly appreciated! During my stay temperature dropped enormously and the bed had heated blankets installed, heaters were also offered to guests. Breakfast was great!

This is a tranquil safe sanctuary with a perfect location. It truly feels like an oasis. It's gated yet we felt safe walking about during the day. Every staff member met us with a smile and a warmth that you could feel. I actually arrived needing to see a doctor for strep throat. The owner Sue called and set up the doctor appointment and the uber ride for me she could not have been more helpful !!! Daily breakfast is included and it's a hot delicious breakfast where you eat in the beautiful dining room with other visitors. We even met some friends we traveled with during our stay. I chose this place to stay with our friends because of all the good reviews and every one is true !!!please stay here!

Melrose Place has always been a great go-to spot with fantastic service & comfortable rooms!
Unfortunately there was no water due to a municipal water fault during my stay. The staff tried their best to manage that.
Other than that, the gardens weren't as kept as previous times I've visited and there was a young group of opera singers staying while I was there who started singing in their rooms before 6am. I asked them to please stop until a more decent hour, so just something I think management should keep an ear out for.

good location. restaurant at a 7 minute walk. the mall is a a 15 minute walk or 7 minute by Uber, where you can catch the Tour bus.
South Africa has power outage across the country. Some hotels have generator they run all the time so no consequence for the customers. But in this hotel unfortunately when it happened during the day, they turned off the generator, meaning no light, no internet. No TV. Besides, the host could have informed beforehand about the outage (I believe the local authority communicate about the scheduled outage). When I arrived late in the evening, my room had the emergency light. No TV, no Internet. Then at midnight, total blackout (the guard mentioned it when I checked in but I didn't realized it would have been no light at all). I took my shower with my computer light. In the room they don't provide candles or lamp, nothing...

Everything was exceptional, the room, the breakfast, the location and also the service was out of this world. Loving people and also nice place, the security is good and nice at the sametime. In short words a place to be when visiting Johannesburg.
