Location was perfect for the town/harbour

Enjoyable 2 night stay helpful friendly staff. Our room was very clean & generous in size & had everything we needed.

Friendly staff in all areas, on leaving even the hotel manager help me with our cases to the car,

Was pleasantly surprised by how nice the hotel was, we were in town for a wedding and needed a place for the weekend. The room, albeit on the smaller side, was new and had all the amenities we needed. Breakfast was great. Would definitely recommend!

Excellent room, very spacious with huge and comfortable bed and very nice fitments. En-suite bathroom also very good with excellent shower. Friendly staff, good quality food and good general cleanliness throughout the hotel. Only small issue was limited on-site parking, especially when a coach was present.

Too small. This trip was initially booked for 2 of us. Due to conditions beyond our control only one of us could attend. Good job, as the room was too small.

Very clean and well kept hotel, very modern decor, bathroom and shower were excellent. Room was really hot with no a/c but fan provided. Rooms are on the small side Upon arrival they must have had issues with their system as they had mixed my data up with a previous guest who shared the same name. Had paid via hotels.com months prior to arrival and when checking out was asked to pay again! Staff apologetic. On arrival family had booked table of 4 for dinner however hotel wasn’t flexible in trying to cater for the other 4 even though hotel restaurant was far from at capacity, gave nice suggestions for other local restaurants to try. Breakfast was lovely other than serving cold coffee, neighbouring table also had same issue

We stayed at the Carlton to view wedding venues for our daughter . The hotel was lovely the bedroom very spacious, the bed lovely and comfy , the bathroom aiiry and everywhere was clean . Breakfast was lovely and all the staff very friendly . We had a lovely stay and will definitely recommend

The Hotel is on the West side of Ilfracombe about 10 minutes from the town centre. There is parking for about 6 cars in the front but otherwise your parking on the street. Reception areas are fine but not grandios, Reception staff were good and explained the format. The room was decorated ok, but very small and tight for two of us and the dog. We went on the off peak season March and were probably given the mallest room, we noticed at least 15 other rooms that were not let out whcih may have been bigger. The front of the htoel was bit naoisy in the morning with no Aircon, and in summer this would have been intollerable. The evening meal was very good and breakfast is adequate. I rate this a middle end 3 star hotel.

I Don’t usually right reviews but felt obliged to say what a delightful Hotel this is. Comfy, clean, staff very friendly and the food is excellent. Will be staying again for sure when i next visit the area.

The staff were all lovely and very helpful, the hotel was beautifully decorated and very clean. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was great with lots of choice and we had lovely meals in the restaurant during the 2 evenings of our stay. However, I booked a Queen room as the photos showed it had a table and chairs in the room which makes it more comfortable for sitting drinking a cuppa and reading etc. when we arrived there was just 1 chair in the room so we asked for another and a small table or to have our room changed. We were given another chair but there really wasn’t room for a table and apparently there wasn’t a room available with these in. We may as well have booked a double room which was cheaper. Also, a mirror is needed in the room that you can us with the hairdryer. There was a large mirror over the bed which is really the wrong place. We didn’t let these minor things affect our short break away and we enjoyed exploring Ilfracombe but the hotel really needs to consider what they show in their photos for different rooms.

Fantastic place to stay in Ilfracombe. Will definitely use again. Only slight let down was the lack of pressure on the shower!! Great friendly staff too.

A very well presented friendly hotel ideally situated for ilfracombe attractions and the Landmark theatre with parking facilities.

The owner and staff were all friendly and helpful Food was great and everything was clean and tidy. Will definitely return.

I had such a relaxing, blissful stay at the Ilfracombe Carlton Hotel and will definitely stay there if I visit Ilfracombe again. The staff were eager to help and make my stay enjoyable. The room was well provided with facilities, and was smart, comfortable and clean. The lounge was stylish yet comfortable. The hotel's facilities were excellent - a restaurant serving delicious food, a gym and a great library with lots of books, local OS maps to borrow, and draughts board. The breakfasts were superb with many hot options to choose from as well as a range of cereals, fruit salad, yoghurt and toast. The proprietor is mad about theatrical musicals and there are posters of West End productions all over the walls which adds an element of fun. There's a bus stop just yards from the hotel, and the hotel is next to the entrance to the Tunnels Beaches (one of the main tourist attractions) and a couple of minutes walk from the museum (which is wonderful) and the sea front. All in all, I had a fantastis stay.

A lovely hotel with professional staff

We have had an amazing stay at The Carlton. Property very clean and all amenities were excellent. Breakfast and evening meals excellent. We will certainly stay here again, and we will prebook the table for evening meals. Chef catered for all of my specific requirements. Cannot recommend highly enough, thank you Michael and all of your team.

The room we had was lovely and spacious, newly refurbished. Excellent shower room. Breakfast was really good and all staff we seen were very friendly. We were attending a wedding in The Tunnels venue so it was very convenient.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel. Very comfortable and clean. The chest of drawers could have worked a bit better. Enjoyed the breakfasts. The staff were very friendly and helpful and would sray again.

Stayed at this hotel this past week and it was brilliant. Mike the owner was always on hand to help with any enquiries. The staff were polite, professional and friendly. Breakfast was on point. The gym was actually decent aswell. The only thing that wasnt nice was how warm our room was at night. Although this was rectified by keeping the window open. Overall for a 3 star hotel it was fantastic. Theres free parking out front aswell that made it so convenient. Couldnt recommend this hotel highly enough.

We had an amazing long weekend at Carlton Hotel. The room was spacious, very well maintained and incredibly comfortable. Michael was the perfect host and gave great recommendations on where to visit locally. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on the first evening, the food was perfect with great service. We can’t wait to return!!

Lovely hotel. Rooms were spotlessly clean as was rest of hotel. Nice to have fan and water in the room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and so much choice. Definitely not a 2 star hotel should be a 3* or even 4*. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Was a fast and friendly checkin , room was nice and clean , and kept clean every day threw out our stay , so had a nice relaxed stay , and would therefore recommend it to anyone else thinking of visiting ilfracombe

Would recommend the Carlton hotel, staff friendly, hotel very clean and tidy. Only slight downside was room was a bit on the small side even though it was meant to be a queen size room. This didn’t alter the opinion of this lovely hotel though

Smart, refurbished, seaside hotel. Efficiency run by friendly welcoming staff. Well located in the seaside town Ilfracombe. Access to our room and facilities within were comfortable and good. Food was very good with wide dinner menu choices. Breakfasts were traditional with delicious haddock option, although we always missed the croissants. We enjoyed our stay and the friendly support of all the staff.

Staff are friendly and helpful and it is close to attractions. nothing bad.
