This is very much a budget self catering accommodation that feels a bit hostel/HMO However its situated right on seafront with easy walking to any part of Aberystwyth. They also have lovely little cafe downstairs with lovely staff. Room was basic and a bit tight, but we were out and about each day so not an issue.

Room with a sea view was lovely. Nice to wake to the sound of the sea. Room was clean and comfortable. Nice little extras that we did not expect.

The chap who was on reception during our stay (Abdallah - apologies if I've misremembered, or misspelt, his name) was welcoming, helpful, pleasant and friendly.
The room was very comfortable, and the presence of a fridge was very welcome, as was access to the kitchen downstairs. In the bathroom, the shower was great, but the toilet was a little bit tall/raised up, making it a bit awkward to sit on, and the seat wouldn't stay up on its own and had to be held in place in case it fell back down.
The coffee and cake in the cafe downstairs were lovely and reasonably priced.
Some of the carpet on the stairs was a little worn and, while it wasn't a problem for us, it could be a potential safety issue if it's not replaced/repaired soon.
Overall, an enjoyable stay.

Not anywhere on you site does it say that it is a hostel. First impression I got when was people slumped over the chairs in the common room, after my shower I had to dry myself with my own Tee shirt as towels were filthy. bed was very uncomfortable and too small as my feet hung out the bottom

Nice welcome on arrival. Room was clean and bed was comfortable BUT it does need a bit of work. New carpets are needed throughout the b&b.

Purely booked to use one key cash points and somewhere to go on bank holiday. Wouldn’t have paid full price (£80) for rear room. Carpet really worn out throughout property and doors needed work - the hotel room door had a big hole and bathroom door didn’t shut properly. Needs extensive renovation. We also noticed the room floor wasn’t level. However the room had everything you needed for short stay - had towels, toiletries, kettle, tea and coffee etc. Location was perfect and staff really friendly. Average stay!

It is like it is. The time goes by in Aberytwith. The hotel is a good example for the city. Not bad but not more than average.

The property is on the seafront near the dog friendly area of the beach so very convenient for us.
The room was small and run down, the bathroom door did not shut and there was no running cold water however the water was fixed very quickly when we mentioned it.
The stay was ok but we will not be returning as there are far better places to stay in Aberystywth.

The property is run down, ceiling and walls are cracked. Shower cabinet is very small and also the entire bathroom you can barely move around. Do not waist your money on this one!

A clean place to stay with excellent sea views. Carpets are threadbare and finish is basic. A budget, clean place to stay.
Stair carpets are dangerous and should be replaced due to tripping hazards. This would also give a better first impression!

This property really needs some work done on it, apart from that the location and the staff are great

Lack of thought for basic amenities, extremely uncomfortable mattresses, block out blinds needed on door as light shines all night. No shelving available on shower. Photos do not show the true likeness of room!
Would not recommend to anyone in its current state!

We wont be coming back.
We rang 17 times with a couple of important questions in the week prior to check in. No answer.
On arrival we banged on the locked door for 20 minutes...no answer. Then a neighbour told us to go next door....which was actually a different name and different number. The guest houses were joined inside but nobody had bothered to tell us. The phone was ringing in reception...it was being ignored.
Inside a labarinth of corridors, stairs, doors, etc to our room...in the original building for which the key was lost...so we could go out that door but had to come in the other door.
Room was over 30 degrees and stiffling hot. We asked for a fan....they didnt have any. Windows were screwed shut!!! Receptionist said she keeps telling owner to buy fans but he refuses. We asked to move rooms and were allowed ...there were a lot of empty rooms ...but again stiffling hot and windows screwed shut. We met a man on the stairs..." Im not staying in this sh..t hole" he said and trundled his cases down the stairs. We rang around but nowhere else had vacancies so we spent evening in and out of the cold shower and dowsed ourselves with wet towels.
Carpet threadbare, scuzzy fittings, filthy windows , etc....

Nice sea views, yet rather functional accommodation that could need some fixing up again. Pictures online look a bit better than reality. But for one or two nights it’s okay.

The chap on reception (might be the manager) was very friendly and helpful. Although there are narrow corridors, the hotel overall is not grim, and "feels" pleasant. It is certainly clean, which for an old building with the usual plaster cracks is some achievement.
Getting a parking space is always a bit of a gamble that end of Aber. The public car park over the road at the back of the hotel is one we've used many times and never seen cars damaged or broken into.
The mattress was horrible (the owners might call it "orthopaedic", I say "hard") and the pillows about the thickness of two thumbs. We had a sea-facing room and the table and two chairs in the window were a pleasant place to sit and look at the waves. The room is too small to fit a comfy chair in. There's a "cubby-hole" type wardrobe with iron, hairdryer etc, and the en-suite is small and functional.
As a base for getting out and about, it would be great with a decent bed and pillows (at least you could sit on the bed in comfort, then). If you're young-ish and healthy, you can probably still sleep on a plank and be comfortable, so it wouldn't be a problem anyway.
There is a large communal kitchen area, which is presumably why "self-catering" is mentioned by the hotel. There was a young family using the facilities perfectly happily when we were there, so it's probably a good option for a longer stay.
Overall, I liked the hotel. But I like a decent night's sleep too. Upgrade the beds, will ya?

Very clean hotel. Sea view was very nice.

Only stayed for one night travelling up from South to North Wales. The hotel is well placed directly overlooking the beach. We were lucky enough to have a beach front room on the second floor, so the view was excellent. The hotel is close to all the beach front attractions an easy walk to restaurants and the peir.
The hotel had a communal kitchen and common room, both were well equipped. The room had tea and coffee making facilities. There's no lift in the hotel so we had to carry out bags up two flights of stairs...not a complaint, but if you have any physical challenges this may not be the place for you.
The room was small, very small with just enough room for the bed and a small table in the bay window. Likewise the bathroom was tiny, if, like me you are overweight you'll struggle in the shower.
That aside the host was welcoming and helpful, the room and site were very clean and the bed was comfortable. It was a booked at a good price and if all you want to do is use the room to sleep then it's a great option.
One last thing. Car parking it you drive there is likely to be a challenge.

After a long drive from Bridgewater, it was a welcome relief when we found ourselves at the Celtic Bay House and our host, Veronica, made certain that we got a nice room with a view of the ocean. We were fortunate enough to find parking at the car park to the east. We spent the rest of the day hunting for our forebears.

We really enjoyed our stay at Celtic Bay Guest House. We visited during Easter Break. At arrival I was greeted by a very polite receptionist. Room and bathroom were dated but clean. We had sea view, which was perfect. I suppose it can get noisy, but all guests were respectful and we had no problem with the noise. Essentials were included. A bit pricy for what it is, but I suppose that's due to the Easter weekend.

Stayed in #11 of Cardigan Bay Guest House and it had a gorgeous view of the ocean, size just right for one or two guests. Easy walking distance to most everything In Aberystwyth. Friendly staff! 50 steps up the stairs as it is on the top floor. Would stay there again.

Great budget accomodation with lovely sea views. Room clean and comfortable. Room a little bright at night due to outside lighting on the building coming into the room but only minor issue. Would use again.

Great views of the sea and easy access to the town centre. We were made to feel most welcome and the receptionist was extremely helpful with local information.

Nothing but good things to say. Staff are very helpful. Only hotel I've ever used with proper coffee and decent sized mugs. Fantatsic to be able to use the kitchen. Honestly, suberb.

Location is amazing, right at the beach. The welcome was warm and great, really nice to be invited like this. The room was comfortable and large enough. Very nice shower (albeit rather small) and beds were good. Sea-view from the room was lovely and very good coffee facilities provided. The overall look of the place is very tired (haggard one might say) and could do with an upgrade, especially considered the price of the room (room only!).

This is self-catering accommodation and I would be very happy to come here again. The ensuite bedroom I had was clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee-making facilities were provided in the room and I particularly appreciated the cafetière and small sample of ground coffee. The communal kitchen had lots of equipment and fridges. While some food was labelled with current guests' names, others (e.g salt, porridge oats) were unlabelled and I assumed had been left by earlier guests for sharing. It would be good to have a clearer (colour coded?) system that clarified what food was personal and what had been left for communal use. Guests should also note that Celtic Bay ask guests to advise time of arrival on the day (this instruction was half way down the second page of my confirmation document and I missed it)

Nice little BnB, room and location as advertised. Lovely sea view with sound of the waves forming your background. Clean and everything was functioning well. Great service from gentleman at reception

NOT NICE apart from the view! Was a very hot day, windows all closed and at first look seemed like all jammed shut. No staff available downstairs. Room was like an oven, had small fan on all through the night, didn’t sleep at all well. Gave one of the sash windows a try in the morn and with a big effort (I have arthritis) one opened a small way but fell down like a guillotine which could have been nasty! How dangerous and ridiculous! Once opened fresh air at last but then…. A coach pulled up outside, left engine running for ages. I had to close window as fumes nasty. After 10 mins turned off and waited there. He was picking up a few hotels up an hour later!

Very cute, bed and breakfast style and extremely friendly staff. Only thing that would make this place better is continental breakfast and an elevator because the stairs are a little steep for luggage.

Had a lovely warm welcome at the hotel.
Room was clean, plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate provided.
There is a car park at the rear of the hotel which is £4.30 for 24hrs (card only)
Hotel is in a great location.

The hotel itself is really old and well worn. The room was clean but the carpet is a bit gross (threadbare, didnt feel that clean, keep your socks on). Bed was extremely uncomfortable. En suite bathroom very small with old fixtures. Room was very hot, no fan in room but one window opened. View from window was beautiful, and the service from the front desk attendant (Abdullah) was exceptional.

Very friendly staff even when my dog barked at them! The room was simple but cosy, right on the seafront. Perfect stay. The only thing I would add to the room is a mirror in the bedroom area.
