The hostel provides a great introduction to San Gil on arrival. They helped us book various excursions, provided recommendations for restaurants and provided space for us to hand-wash our laundry. When you book with the hostel and the weather conditions cancel the activity, the hostel can very easily switch to another activity so you don't lose the day. There were even times that the staff moved our hanging laundry into the shade when it started raining. I would recommend Macondo hostel to anyone that is coming to San Gil for some adventure! P.s. They have hot water!

Beds weren't the most comfortable, very firm, especially after a long day of activity... I think this is more of a personal preference.

I stayed in a private room and it was the cleanest and most comfortable one I've had so far during my 2 week trip through Colombia. What I appreciated a lot was also the clean, fresh smell. Lots of places have scent diffusers which are awfully overbearing. This place didn't, which I was really grateful for.

One of the best hostels I've been to, the staff helps with everything - all info, booking tickets, you can book all the adventures like rafting, paragliding the day before and they organize everything. The bed was comfortable. The hostel is very social so great if you're traveling alone. And a hot jacuzzi in the evening is a plus :)

Great location in San Gil and a knowledgeable and friendly staff on hand to help with all your planning and activities while in San Gil. There was also a great atmosphere within the hostel with the guests

Easy to communicate with the staff to book tours etc

Our room was one of two positioned behind the kitchen used by all guests. It was open from 7am until 11pm. Unfortunately this meant that all noise from talking, music, moving chairs around, etc was CLEARLY heard from our room. This could have easily been mitigated by 1) fixing the door behind the kitchen to close properly as the latch was not there allowing the door to swing open 2) install a solid core door instead of the cheap hollow core closet door to our room and reduce the large gap at the bottom to the floor.

Perfect location, the employees are super friendly and help you with any kind of question. The place is really quiet and if you wanna book any type of activity you can do it via them (cheap prices aswell). Would highly recommend this place! It is super close to all the good restaurants and the main square :)

It was by far the best hostal I stayed in during my 2 month backpacking trip through Colombia. Apart from the fantastic location and the extremely friendly and insanely helpful crew, the hostal offered enough space and was sufficiently equipped to, for example, hang up wet things (e.g. towel/swimwear, etc.), store the backpack and clothes well and each bed, had a bedside table with power socket and lamp. Things you learn to appreciate when you´re travel around within the Colombian hostal world. I also really like the fact that there are very friendly notes everywhere to raise ecological awareness. The crew is by far the friendliest I have ever met and responsibly and trustworthily while helping to plan tours in the area and get to know San Gil. All tips and assistance have always been a complete success and was always really economical. Probably the best hostel I've been in Colombia in four months! Sean and the staff are absolutely helpful and friendly, the hostel feels like a home. Rooms and facilities super clean and comfy and great showers!

I was extremely sorry that I couldn't stay longer. The staff, including the owner were very friendly and welcoming. They were very helpful giving me directions of where to go and the timetable to it. I used to buy a beer at night just to stay at the reception talking. The garden was amazing and the jacuzzi was beyond perfection.

The staff is wonderful, always trying to make you feel welcomed, encourages you to have fun and helps you to plan your activities.

There is A LOT of mosquitos, if you are staying there, don't you dare to forget your repellent.

The receptionist helped us tremendously with figuring out how to get to our next location on a holiday when many buses were not running. She even made several phone calls for us.
